Worst ever embarkation but Wonderful itinerary and ship by Bofagaz

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse

The embarkation experience was THE WORST I have ever experienced. A dedicated check in time of 12:30 - 13:00 yet it took 4 hours to get checked in with zero communication from celebrity staff. Also, you never responded to my emails ( by reply, to captains club and to customer services) when you first communicated the “barnacle” problem which demonstrates you dont value your customers. The cruise itinerary was great and all the service staff (bars, cabin cleaner, restaurant staff) were exceptional- something supervisors, concierge and executive team could do with demonstrating. The ship facilities were also very good and on the whole, the onboard experience was very good. 1) I was constantly bombarded by celebrity emails (circa 2-3 per week) for weeks leading up to departure asking me to comp, eye check in yet your own protocols say we couldn’t check in until we had a negative proof of covid test which had to be within 48 hours! 2) you forced us to book antigen tests in Canada at the cost of $250CAD because all your tests that we could order are solely geared for Americans despite the cruise director commenting that it was mostly UK customers, followed by Canadian customers onboard. I even contacted your UK customer service team and was told I had to sort this myself. In summary, as fully vaccinated travellers, we travelled from Scotland to Canada with 10 days touring Canada and only required tests by Celebrity, again costing us $250 CAD 1) no apology for the horrendous embarkation 2) the $100 onboard credit for the late “barnacle” change to the itinerary was derisory 3) no response from 3 different celebrity emails (inc captains club and “customer service”) to my complaint about (2) 4) you cost us $250 for antigen tests despite being fully vaccinated with NO support to non USA travellers. Such a shame as above means I am looking elsewhere for my next cruise and I have already advised x4 friends/family to look elsewhere as they choose their cruises. Exceptional staff were Lastra and Anjho in the main dining, Vira was a brilliant hostess at main dining and our cabin attendant Grace was first class. Horrendous embarkation experience, derisory offer of onboard credit due to VERY LATE ITINERARY CHANGE and unacceptable costs of antigen tests for non USA customers means I wouldn’t recommend. A real shame as great ship & lovely staff

Lost a day in Maui, but gained a sea day because of Barnacles slow down the ship. by Live2TravelNow

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse

We were on the Eclipse's 2nd cruise after return from covid shut down. The 1st cuise and ours lost a 1 day in port, but gained a sea day. The cruise after ours is having their port time cut in half. And the 4th cruise ofseason has been cancel. This is all because Celebrity didn't realize a Barnacle problem would slow the ship from 22 knots to 15 knots. Captain Leo told us they did clean the sides below the water line before starting to sail but couldn't do the bottom because of environmental concerns. Ship has to go to dry dock May 22th.

11 night cruise to Hawaii from Vancouver. The ship an issue with barnacles on the hull which meant an extra day at sea. We missed a day in Hilo but we didn’t mind.

CRUISE REFUSED DOCKING IN SAN ANTONIO/SANTIAGO CHILE by S148TOY

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: South America

Some wish to blame Celebrity for this cancellation. Blame China, COVID-19 Chile closing their port at the last minute, notifying Celebrity within 24 hours, the port at midnight, ship was arriving at 2:00am. When you book your own airfare, Celebrity isn't to blame, but still offering $300pp. These are unprecedented times. Those stuck aboard, free 14 day cruise to San Diego, reimbursed to those who paid, 100% refunded or 125% FCC. Open bars, free internet, all ship activities being provided, not charging gratuities(although everyone should tip the crew), free flights to home airports. Situation horrible to those who flew in to join this cruise, either booked own airfare or used ChoiceAir. Those who used ChoiceAir supposedly were being helped but things were chaotic this last weekend, so some maybe weren't helped as they should have been. It was chaotic on the ship too, we waited in line for 4 1/2 hours on Sunday booked two flights then had to cancel both including hotel, many hassles. Guest Services staff only got rest on Thursday night when we sailed.

Entertainment severely lacking by BOSFlyGirl

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: South America

14 night cruise to Antarctica, Argentina, Falkland Islands and Uruguay. We were blessed with some of the best weather I've encountered on a vacation of this length and extremely smooth seas through-out. The itinerary was also wonderful - would highly recommend. I found the ship's crew and staff to professional and genuine. The ship is in need of a bit of a renovation/dry dock (noticeable rust, ripped/worn linens and soft decor, etc.) and has one scheduled in April 2020. Overall this is a comfortable mid-sized ship but beware that entertainment is severely lacking which is especially an issue on a longer cruise such as this with lots of time at sea.

End Of The World by rbcoast

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse

There are a lot of places in this world to cruise. If you want to go to the end of the world this is a good way to do it. It’s a very lonely planet down here so lots of time to reflect on what it must have been like for early explorers.

South America cruising by snichols

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: South America

Great cruise. Great weather. Ship was very clean. Great cruise director on this cruise and it made a huge difference. The captain wasn't very visible. He attended the usual Capt. Club activities. Cancelled the Inside Access tour. Many other cruises I've been on the capt. and staff had Q&A's which I found enjoyable.

Good Cruise by mikewehs

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse

Very good. Ports of call were so so. Many of port terminals require a port bus to get to cruise terminal. Made port visit more difficult/time consuming. Only could mainly do shopping & just walking around. Got a basic feel for port/country.

16 Night South America (Los Angeles To Santiago) by snichols

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

Costa Rica was switch for Guatemala. Really wanted to see Costa Rica. Tendering was a real issue in every port. You would think that a cruise line would have a working system.

Good Cruise with a few issues by knightaudit

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Hawaii

The one thing I do wish that would be included by a cruise line is a list of all the crew at the end of your cruise. Everything from the Captain to the people in the laundry that you may not see, I think this would add a special level of intimacy to the vacation.

Magical Hawaiian Cruise by megansmom1985

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Hawaii

This was a fabulous cruise! Ten sea days is not for the feint of heart. If you get bored with five days in a row at sea, it may not be for you. We loved the sea days but can say we were happy to see land when we reached Ensenada on day 15. My only negative comment is that I believe that Celebrity could have extended the time at each port until later in the day. Only Oahu had a night time departure. The other days we sailed at 5 or 6 pm limiting the amount of time on those islands.

Awesome in every Way! by 2grneyes

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Eclipse / Destination: Hawaii

This was my first cruise spending 10 (total) days at sea. I discovered that I LOVE sea days which gives time to really explore and enjoy the ship. There are many activities and things to do to keep you entertained. Plus, the biggest benefit to me, was the relaxed pace that permeates the ship. I found this to be very calming. The weather was so perfect that you could hardly feel the ship moving. This trip included Halloween night and, oh my, but did people dress up in costumes. There was a costume parade with the Captain serving as a judge. He was also in costume...and a very cool captain. And there were winners. I wish I had taken pictures, but I was having too much fun. I would take this trip again, but Celebrity isn't offering it. Perhaps in the future it will be a possibility and I highly recommend that you try it if they do.
