Review summary

This was a superior way to get an overview of Italy, Croatia, and Montenegro. We enjoyed the history. We coupled the cruise with three days each in Rome and Venice to get the full Italian experience. We were able to see a number of bucket-list places and the ship and crew made the traveling all the better.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Very laborious. For some reason only half of the screening stations were open resulting in standing in a line for almost and hour. Once security screening was accomplished, the remainder of embarkation went very well.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The main dining room was superior. We only ate there for dinner. Although the menu was generally uninspiring, the food was prepared to perfection and our waitstaff was awesome.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Solid activities for a smaller ship. Not nearly as diverse as larger ship offerings, but still very enjoyable.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
For the size of the ship, we were very surprised with the quality and diversity of the shows. The musicians were excellent and this included those playing nightly in the bars.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Top notch. Our dining table crew was superior and that included the sommelier. They tended to our needs and quickly learned what we liked, to the point that I was able to get anchovies on my chef salad every night! I really appreciated the good morning or welcome back that I received from the staff all the time and the smiles on their faces were encouraging. Our room steward did a masterful job with the room and we really appreciated his efforts.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Solid design and very clean. No issues. They were always cleaning.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin was as advertised and clean. And clean!

Ship tip

Walk around and get oriented to the ship first thing! Once onboard, take it all in and let it happen.

Ports of call

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

3 out of 5
No excursion. The security processing was poor.

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

5 out of 5
Smooth port processing and we did an excursion.

Portofino, Italy

4 out of 5
Not a fan of tendering. They did a great job even considering the rain we had on that day. We did an extensive excursion.

Naples, Italy

5 out of 5
Great port.

Messina, Sicily

5 out of 5
Well planned port for excursion. The ship berthed right in the city, unlike other ports where the ship was in an industrial area. We did an excursion.

Brindisi, Italy

4 out of 5
The port is a long way from civilization. Everything went well and we did an excursion.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

4 out of 5
Another industrial port. Did not appreciate the fee for shuttle into the city. We went into the city on our own and did not do an excursion.

Kotor, Montenegro

5 out of 5
Well, it is not a port. It is another tendering operation and it is a long tender into the city. That written, it was worth it. This is a beautiful area and a must see and do. We did an excursion and had a solid time.

Split, Croatia

5 out of 5
Arguably the best port of the trip. The ship docked a short walk from the city and we had a wonderful excursion that we were able to walk to and from.

Ravenna, Italy

4 out of 5
Another industrial port located a long drive from the city. We departed the cruise here and made our way to Venice.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Great, smooth and efficient. We took our own bags and it was not a problem. Celebrity should not indicate that the cruise ends in Venice, as Ravenna is a long way from Venice. Tell it like it is so people do not have misconceptions. It is about four hours travel by train and bus from the port to Venice.
