Review summary

Fantastic. Wonderful. My only comment ... there should be more supervision at the hot tubs. People were in the hot tubs with glass bottles of beer, and the pool attendant (Howard) and one of the officers (Stanley) completely ignored the infraction. This happened on more than one occasion.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
The whole experience was flawless. Due to an outbreak of the Noro Virus, we were alerted 24 hours before embarkation that the timing would be pushed back due to additional sanitizing of the ship. No one had a problem with this and the whole check-in process was done in a very timely manner.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food on the ship, in both the San Marco dining room, Qsine and the Oceanview Cafe were incredible. Food was extremely plentiful and beautifully presented. The staff manning the stations were all very customer oriented and always had smiles on their faces. They could not do enough for all of the passengers.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
I was very disappointed not to see, on the single sea day, a "Walk for the Cure" event. As a cancer survivor, I always participate in this event, a great way of raising money for all causes and a fun experience. I did enjoy the Galley Tour which I found very informative.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Jane Cho was outstanding as was her husband. I did not care for the comedian ... his British humor seemed to have been lost on the crowd. The magician was excellent. The on-board Celebrity Entertainers were mediocre, except for one of the male singers who had an amazing operatic voice (he was dark haired, on the shorter side and a bit overweight).

Children's Programs

I did not travel with children so I cannot rate the program.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Exceptional service from the minute I came on board to the minute I left the ship. Each and every associate was friendly, polite, always trying to provide assistance. The front desk staff had the patience of saints as some guests were rude and short tempered.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Very clean lines and spotless in each and every category.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
My cabin was kept in such a pristine condition thanks to my cabin steward, Alvin. He greeted me on the first day, inquiring what he could do to make my stay better. He always had a smile on his face and no matter when I came in the cabin, it was like something out of a magazine.

Ship tip

Leave all your worries and concerns on the pier ... you are in for a fantastic time.

Ports of call

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

5 out of 5
Each of the ports was spectacular. The tender service process was handled without a problem and all staff on the gangway made transferring from the ship to the tenders an easy transition.

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

5 out of 5
One of my favorite ports ... easy access to the incredible Cinque Terre.

Portofino, Italy

5 out of 5
My all-time favorite port. The tender process was a non-issue. Gorgeous and plenty of time to explore the region.

Villefranche-Sur-Mer, France

5 out of 5
Magnificent. Plenty of time to explore the region and the tender transfer was done without a problem.

Toulon, France

5 out of 5
Excellent shore excursion, "The Best of Provence". Tour was very organized and brought us to 3 different and diverse towns. Excellent tour guide.

Sete (Carcassonne), France

5 out of 5
Lovely town and easy transportation to Montpellier where I went on my own.

Ibiza, Balearic Islands

5 out of 5
Loved the extended time in Ibiza. There was time for a full day tour, back to the ship for dinner and then an easy trip into town to experience the night life of this "happening" island.

Palma De Mallorca, Balearic Islands

5 out of 5
Beautiful island with plenty of time to explore.

Valencia, Spain

5 out of 5
Lovely extra stop on this cruise.

Barcelona, Spain

5 out of 5
Another of my favorite cities ... I stayed on for an extra 2 days of sightseeing and dining.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
This would have gotten a 5 star except that there was a problem locating my luggage. I was in Group 6, but the people who sorted the luggage mistook the "6" for a "9" -- no major problem. But I might suggest leaving out the "6" and "9" tags ... even with the line under the number 6, it was still identified as a number 9. But the staff in the disembarkation lounge quickly came to my aide and my bag was located in about 15 minutes.
