Our Constellation experience was a definite step down from our last cruise on the Equinox a few years ago with Celebrity (to many of the same ports); but, all-in-all, we still had a good family vacation.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Sufficiently quick, but crowded/cramped check-in process.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
We though the main dining room was a big disappointment. Food looked okay, but was often tasteless and lacking variety. Service was friendly, but slow. We ended up eating almost all of our meals in the Ocean View buffet area, which was above average.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Entertainment was above average.
Children's Programs
4 out of 5
Our two teenage boys had a good time with other kids their age in the teen club, pool, basketball area, etc...
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Nice and professional, but, overall and with some exceptions, not above expectations, which you tend to expect from an upper-tier cruise line.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
The ship is adequate, but it's not as nice as the newer and bigger Celebrity ships. It needs updating in the staterooms and most of the public areas.
Cabin / Stateroom
2 out of 5
Liked our stateroom attendant; but, for the price, the balcony cabin needs a facelift, as with many of the other public areas of the ship.
Ship tip
In its present form, don't expect the Constellation to be as nice as some of the newer and larger Celebrity ships. Therefore, if it's going to the destinations you want to travel, shop for the best deal possible and manage your expectations to make up for what it otherwise lacks in quality.
Would've rated it higher (as the actual disembarkation was smooth), but they didn't tell us that they were canceling our "extended stay" excursion they promoted in advance of the cruise until after we were on board and then with no real explanation or help in finding alternative arrangements.
