Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Very good cruise and beautiful ship, a little crowded for my taste but enjoyed it very much. No complaints, however I paid a lot of money for photos that should have been downloaded to the Carnival app and I am still waiting to find out where the photos are, calling Customer Service today to see if the can help, my advice get the USB instead of the App

Good by BarbaraGranda

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The Ship is very nice but we expected it to be above and beyond, being Carnivals newest ship.

The food was okay. On several occasions we tried making a reservation for the steak house but were unable to because it was booked every day. So we were unable to eat at the Steak house.  Being that the Pizza is the only food area opened late at night they should have more people working there because the lines were terrible. They should also have some other type of snack food available late at night like little sandwiches for the people who don't eat pizza.

We didn't like the show theater, the seating was terrible and the visibility wasn't good and it didn't even have a theater feeling.

Carnival Vista - 8 Night Southern Caribbean by kpagnano

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ship and services were very nice. They need to improve the "munster" process before leaving the original port. Our family's (kids 6 & 9) assigned munster station was in a casino where people were recently smoking and already drinking (loud). We could not hear the instructions over the intercom system. The local staff assigned to the munster station GENTLY tried to enforce quiet and not being on your cell phone but they didnt have portable megaphones to ensure people were quiet. Also, you were not required to bring your life vest (under our bed in cabin) and we never went to the site of our assigned lifeboat.

Also, we told the kids camp that our 9 year old daughter did NOT have permission to check herself out of the camp and one day at the pool early in the trip she shows up to us at the pool (they let her out).

Nice but not overly impressed! by gregarobertson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We weren't overly impressed with the Vista considering it's their newest and flagship boat in their fleet. Except for a couple of things like the Skyride and the IMAX once you were on the ship you could have felt like you were on one of the older ships. The carpet throughout the ship is already showing signs of wear and the flooring in the buffet areas was very slippery. The showroom was not well thought out. Too many obstructions. This was the second new ship we have been on, the first Carnival, and the Vista didn't compare to the Getaway from NCL. The Getaway had much more innovative things like large touch screens near all elevators to help navigate your way around. We did like the selection of ports except La Romana. Nothing to do there unless you signed up for one of the highly over priced excursions. I wish they would have more ships like the Legend. Now that ship has class and style. There was nothing that really set the Vista apart from some of the more recent ships in the Carnival fleet.

Overall experiencenot by arvindakshah39

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We took this trip from Dec 24 to Dec 31 with our children and grand children.

The ship is beautiful and really huge with lots of activities for all age group.Being a holiday week and ship size we have to wait in line which was frustrating.

with food services we were surprised with very limited choice of veg food when more and more people are switching to veg food. Carnival should rethink their strategy.

The ratios of passenger approx 4000 to staff 1500 was also surprising. It was very efficient

Expected more, very disappointed in Carnival. by rogerrose

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The lack of organization was our major disappointment.  It seemed there were too many passengers and not enough informed staff to deal with all the associated problems.  We had  to line up far too often for food, activities and disembarkation at stops.  The dinners were good except for the dry braised lamb shanks and short ribs.  Time waisted with the disorder could have been spent discovering more of the features of the Vista that I did not get to see or use.  I will not be going on the Vista again and have serious doubts about any Carnival offerings.  On the good side, our cabin attendant (Nelson) was friendly and thorough.  We were pleased with the wedding we attended in the piano bar.  It was well organized and the captain did a great job conducting the ceremony.

Cruising, Not what it used to be... by martinthehowleyscom

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I am only 50, have been on a number of cruises over the past 30 years.  Cruising is not what it used to be.

The Carnival Vista is a beautiful ship.  Everything about the physical ship was excellent.  Very well designed, good layout, smooth ride in rough seas.  Excellent accommodations, and plenty of entertainment.  Carnival hit the mark on the design.

Where Carnival missed the mark is on things like organization, food, and nickel and dimeing people to death.

First, the Your Time Dining thing is a joke.  The brochure says show up 15 - 20 minutes before you want to eat...  We signed up, were told 1 hour.  At 1 1/2 hours we were told another hour.  I went to see the assistant manager at the restaurant and he walked my family in immediately.  The surprising thing was that most of the restaurant was empty, lots of open tables, and lots and lots of people waiting on the deck above to be called.  Very disorganized.

Secondly the food in the main dining room "Horizons"  was sub par at best.  Selection, quality and taste were all lacking.  We asked a server one night what was going on with the food, his response was great,  "our customers have no class anymore, so we cater to what they want."

The lido buffet also had little variety.  Gone are the gala nights, the midnight buffet's and the extravaganzas that used to be Cruising.

The cabin stewards were amazing, polite, helpful people.  The drink servers were also very good, the food service staff was mostly rude and less than polite.  Except at Guys...

My family of 4 walked away from this cruise saying it was good, we loved the ports, the ship was great, but the rest was just OK - we have not cruised in about 7 years, we have just been staying on various islands - I guess we are going to do that again...  Will try another cruise in 8 years...

this cruise was a great disappointment by MSRITA

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean

This cruise was  such a disappointment. the fact that I flew in from Bermuda to meet up with family and to be a cruise that went days without cleaning our room, and when we complained it wasn't much better an the food was less than quality I expected for the money spent. Well on January 1st I did the smart thing. We booked our 2017 cruise with Norweigian. NO MORE CARNIVAL FOR US, SUCH A WASTE OF MONEY.

Vista is not all that by AngeE

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean

First let me say I love the Carnival franchise however I was very disappointed with the Carvival Vista. We had almost a 5000 people on our ship to include the ship personnel. Normally during the. Check in process your photo is taken and you are given your room keys. On this cruise your photo was only taken if you didn't have a passport otherwise the photo from your passport was used.  Your room cards (sail & sign) were not given to you, they were in an envelope outside of your cabin for anyone walking by to take.  The major problem I had with this is my credit card information was attached to that card. Anyone who arrived on the ship before my slotted time could have used my card to charge anything on the ship and would have not been the wiser until it was too late. The pictures and video they show of the Vista being built is not the same Vista I was on.  The balcony rooms were smaller than the other Carnival ships I've been on, The cabin was smaller than the other Carnival ships, The closet space was much smaller so much so that the life jackets are now located under the bed which means no place to store your luggage. The space between the desk and the bed was so tight you had to slide through sideways to get to the other bed.  The dining room Reflections is located on the same level as the Promanade deck, a high traffic area with a bar in the center with two staircases on each side, customer service, shore excursions the Christmas tree and at least 5 different photographers taking pictures.  Made it very difficult to make it to/from the dinning area for dinner ever night. After 11pm the only food you could get was pizza. Trying to stand in line with close to 5000 on a ship makes for a long wait for pizza.  The Guy's Smokehouse was only open the days we were out to sea so out of the seven day cruise it was only open three times (maybe). They fish & chip place that is free on the other ships charges for their food on the Vista. The food selection was okay on the Lido deck which was disappointing compared to my other Carnival cruises. There were only two ice cream machines that was always missing something i.e., spoons, cups, cones and always messy due to the number of children on this cruise. There were 1400 children on this cruise, most of them pre-teens or teenagers who caused havoc and mayhem. A group of them ran around the ship all night hanging from the of the ceiling in the hallways until they couldn't hold on anymore and just drop. All in the group taking turns. This went on for several nights around 3am. Don't know where security was, but i know where they weren't!  Now don't get me wrong I was not pleased with the above, but the staff that worked with me were very nice, accommodating and helpful.  The cruise director Matt is awesome! He definitely kept everyone pumped up during the cruise.  I don't think the Vista staff was ready for the number of people that came on this cruise. Not enough staff to keep up with the demand of the masses. This was not worth the extra money i put out for this ship. For entertainment if you didn't stand in line at least 30 minutes before you were not getting in to that venue. Everything about this ship although larger in size was smaller in space to accommodate more people. So in essence I paid more for less. Next year I will not be choosing the Vista at least not at the current price!

Crusing on the Vista by LisaChu

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean

My daughter (16) and I (53) had a great time on the Vista. Our interior room was cleaned 2 times a day, it was quiet and comfortable. We enjoyed the animal towels and the family harbor room. The food was fabulous. The shows were great. We loved the trivia. This was our first time cruising too.

Improvements:  We did not know about Horizons Restaurant for dining until the 2nd day or so. We could not hear the announcements in the hall way from our room. Mongolian Grill wait time was too long and service was slow, portion size too small. There should be saucers for the coffee cups too, I spilled some coffee when walking with a cup. Volleyball should be segregated by gender too many boys trying to spike the ball and not enough teams, if your on the losing team each time you only play once.

I was sadly disappointed (Very surprised because I love Carnival) by jking0058

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean

What was your favorite part of the cruise? My favorite part of the cruise was Matt the cruise director and the Lip Sync contest. ( My cousin actually won)

Also Ferinheight 555 was the best part of Dinner for the entire cruise.

What could use some improvement? (the dinner reservation portion of the cruise and port time at Puerto Rico).

This was a horrible experience because we actually waited 1 1/2 hours for dinner and my mom is a Diabetic. We had to beg for a table when we could actually see tables all around us.

Would you recommend this cruise to others

No, Pureto Rico was cut short and for the amount of money we paid for a suite and a brand new ship I expected to have a grand time. I was sadly disappointed...

Great Experience by pbs19643

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean

The check-in was great. The only problem that I had was the dinner experience. Not knowing that you had to have reservations first, the staff made you feel like you did know the process, that was not a great experience at all.  Also for a large party we had to wait over 30 mins. which was not good because one of my family member's is diabetic an really had to each something before she passed out. That is how we received a table. That really needs to be worked out. On the good side I won the Lip Sync Battle on the ship. I would go again only if the Dinner reservations issue is resolved

Carnival Vista by marvinmerrit

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean

The ships was clean but entirely aimed at millenials, not baby boomers!!! Specialty dining was poor in La Cuchina, horrible food, F 555 was a typical steak house, Ji Ji was excellent. Bonsai Sushi was amazing. Main dining room menu needs some updating, has not changed in years on Carnival.

Staff needs to be trained in the Carnival Culture of addressing passengers by name on return of the Sail and Sign card. Staff need to be more friendly and make you feel wanted rather than a burden to them.

Short of expectations by piggottna

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

So we planned a year ina svante to be a part of the Carnival Vista inauguration voyage thinking that this ship would be the turn of something new and unexpected from Carnival. We were disappointed from beginning to end with the cruise experience as there was no true new experience to the Bista. The only NEW attractions are the sky zone, the IMAX theaters and the seafood shack however those experiences were not included in the carnival package and required extra funds. I think the most disappointing aspect of the Vista was the food options....the exact same as all the other ships the same formal dinning menu every night the same lido deck options and the same 24/7 pizza and sandwiches. Our cruise director Matt was amazing and hot and the twist of Ms. Cookie made the mundane activities bearable. My suggestion is brainstorm on better food options we are on the boat more than we are on the ports don'tsbort the guests with boring pallet options.

Stunning Vessel by downsouthhvac01

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean

This ship is by far the nicest ship in the Carnival fleet and I have been on  many. The design, choice of colors, the decor, various restaurants for any dining preference, the thrill theater and Carnival can boast of an iMax movie theater aboard the ship.

The continual problem that I had with the Carnival Vista was the anytime dining. The entire concept needs to be revamped, it's a nightmare or may I should say depending on the size of your party...our party was 10.The lines are entirely too long and the dining service is hectic because you have a different server every night. Ultimately, delivering very slow to poor service...The food was great and the selections were great...the service side needs to step up the game or Carnival needs to work out a system to make it more efficient.

My first time on a Carnival ship by Cruiser19779800

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The port visitsHappy   Loved the ports and all the excursions.   I thought the Carnival Vista was a so-so ship tho the staff was friendly enough, just not the service I have had on other cruise lines.  Was not overly happy with the food and their venues.
