Review summary

We weren't overly impressed with the Vista considering it's their newest and flagship boat in their fleet. Except for a couple of things like the Skyride and the IMAX once you were on the ship you could have felt like you were on one of the older ships. The carpet throughout the ship is already showing signs of wear and the flooring in the buffet areas was very slippery. The showroom was not well thought out. Too many obstructions. This was the second new ship we have been on, the first Carnival, and the Vista didn't compare to the Getaway from NCL. The Getaway had much more innovative things like large touch screens near all elevators to help navigate your way around. We did like the selection of ports except La Romana. Nothing to do there unless you signed up for one of the highly over priced excursions. I wish they would have more ships like the Legend. Now that ship has class and style. There was nothing that really set the Vista apart from some of the more recent ships in the Carnival fleet.

we were in a cove balcony and the balcony was a filthy mess. It didn't look like it had been cleaned in weeks. The beds were hard as concrete. We didn't get a single good nights sleep.

Ship tip

Don't set your expectations very high or you will be disappointed!

We waited over 20 months for our Vista cruise in November with great anticipation only to be disappointed in oh so many ways BUT being on a cruise any cruise was better than sitting home dreaming about being on a cruise.

completely agree. vista is looking dated already. service on board poor, food mediocre, staff (unless tipping regurlarly generously) rude and unhelpful and onboard prices bearing in mind gratuites and service charge already paying are extortionate. would not sail on this ship ever again.

Agreed the Vista was lack luster and someone described it at IKEA feeling. Dining room was awful!

Can you give me some information for La Romana and the resort you're referring to? We are leaving out on 2/11 and are wanting ideas for DR...

In La Romana, you could have gone to Dreams Resort and had their all inclusive for $65 a person. You don't have to stick with Carnival excurions. Maybe next time do some research, or ask questions here on what to do in ports.
