Review summary

After 15 - 20 cruises in Carnival and Royal Caribbean, this was very disappointing.  I paid for two passengers(balcony rate). At the last minute, my significant other could not go. I did pay full price for both passengers. I.e., I paid about $800 extra for a second person. I was suppose to be given a $75 promotion for a dinner in one of the restaurants. I was given 1/2 only $37.50, even though I paid fully for the second person. Other items dissapointing:

1) no refrigerator in room  2) lack of account/dinner menus/ room service ordering on the TV. 3) confiscated a second bottle of wine and ship threw it away. again I paid for two passengers.  4) I was suppose to be refunded port charges($104) which I have not received.

My question will you respond to this. How do you feel about the "customer service" on my trip? If your were the customer, would you be satisfied?

Thank you.........

Confiscated wine is not returned.

After 15 - 20 cruises? Your review says otherwise.

courtneywills    8 years ago

I haven't cruise sunshine yet but have cruised the breeze an we had so much fun an carnival is the most affordable an we had awesome service so sorry you had such a bad time but like everyone said u should have done your homework, so many people are so quick to bitch about things life is short don't waste ur time being unhappy an complaining. An FYI get cruise ins an it wouldn't be a problem

Kkitty44    8 years ago

The PVPs are great. If I had used mine last time, I could've claimed the insurance

Kkitty44    8 years ago

Ah I see. I'm hyper organized when it comes to booking cruises and going on them (even though I've only sailed 6 times prior) so I send a chart to my guy with names, type of cabin, number of people in the cabin, email address for confirmations, etc. My football guys and I tend to share a quad cabin with balcony. Others will do 3, and some, 2... :) but we won't have that many cabins.

tonyflorida    8 years ago

i may start doing that in the future. in fact, already booked for march 2017 on the glory and had to call carnival to book as they only off me one cabin choice online for a cruise 16 months out! so i guess i now have a pvp!

TeresaC1963    8 years ago

Thanks. I've booked mine direct thru the website but also only booking one cabin at a time for 2 ppl.

Kkitty44    8 years ago

I always browse on the site but then call my guy to book.

Kkitty44    8 years ago

I have my own PVP with carnival and he's handled all my price adjustments, etc. PVP = personal vacation planner. We don't have a big enough group to be considered a "group " in their eyes (booking less than 8 cabins) so we just get to deal with our PVP

tonyflorida    8 years ago

personal vacation planner

TeresaC1963    8 years ago

What is a pvp?

tonyflorida    8 years ago

i have never used a travel agent. going on our 8th cruise in march on the sunshine and have booked every one of them myself through their website. never had an issue until this one because we are part of a group. cant print anything out until the final pmt date passes if we want our cabin # on it and everytime i have called to get a rate reduction have had to be transferred to a group rep. dont like that one bit.

Kkitty44    8 years ago

Best believe I'll be using my PVP for that

Kkitty44    8 years ago

Oh for sure! Over the last two weeks, we've been selecting our next trip. It'll be the Breeze, November 27,2016 for my birthday

TeresaC1963    8 years ago

So sorry about that. You seem to be keeping a positive attitude about it. That's awesome!

Kkitty44    8 years ago

They do know what they were missing. Most of them couldn't get the time off. Most of them had just started new jobs or been promoted, etc. It was a good thing for them though because they're really young. Like 22-24. And yes I'm pissed at my TA. first time I didn't use my PVP and everything went to hell :(

TeresaC1963    8 years ago

Wow kitty. That is terrible. I would be pissed at my TA if I were you. That's a lot of money. What made all 10 of them cancel on you? Don't the know what they were missing? 😉

Kkitty44    8 years ago

Onboard credit (your $75) is always split/assigned equally among passengers in the room. There has always been a refrigerator in my room so I can't speak to that. Not all ships and rooms have them...

Kkitty44    8 years ago

Oh geez. Ok. I understand that it's disappointing when you paid for both of you and only one could come. In January I booked and paid for 11 of us. With only weeks to go, all 10 of them cancelled. I DID have the insurance, but my travel agent didn't process the cancellation properly, and so my guys were listed as no shows. So I couldn't make the insurance claim. :(

Dorisscott - we loved Jaime Dee also! Really full of llfe and energy - that's for sure.

mulbite1    8 years ago

Oh my mistake. It had me so confused. Thank you.

TeresaC1963    8 years ago

It doesn't say 15-20 minutes, it says 15-20 cruises, meaning Dave claims he has sailed that many times on the 2 cruise lines and this one time didn't go his way.

mulbite1    8 years ago

Why does it say after 15-20 minutes in Carnival and Royal Caribbean? Did it happen to you twice? If so I would recommend you not booking anymore cruises with your significant other. Also if you paid for the both of you and didn't pay for the insurance then you should be asking your significant other for money back not the cruise line.

TeresaC1963    8 years ago

I agree. I understand them holding the liquor you buy in port and of course, that should be returned. But their rules regarding bringing liquor on board at the start of the cruise are clear. If you can't follow the rules, they shouldn't be responsible for holding for you. Trash was made for a reason. 😜

tonyflorida    8 years ago

if I were carnival i would not return confiscated liquor either. if you don't want to follow the rules then suffer the consequences!

mynupasttime    8 years ago

new policy...do not return confiscated on Carnival any longer

gellmore    8 years ago

Way to go Doris.. I only a few behind you!!

dorisscott53    8 years ago

Oh yeah, I've done 28 cruises... BY THE WAY

dorisscott53    8 years ago

I was on Sunshine this past week ... BEST CRUISE EVER... Best cruise director EVER! Best Entertainment EVER ... I could not find one bad thing about this cruise or the Sunshine Ship! Totally 5 stars plus! Love love love the Cruise Director , Jaime Dee... Looking forward to sailing with her again on the new Vista!

cpfritz    8 years ago

This is perhaps what you would have had to pay for single occupancy anyway. Or would you have preferred your money back and had the spot sold to a perfect stranger?

Kkitty44    8 years ago

To my knowledge, they will confiscate and return booze you bring from port, etc. But on embarkation, there is a limit and anything beyond that limit is confiscated and not returned

gellmore    8 years ago

Daveharrison jr.. First of all, learn how to write so people can understand. They will confiscate wine but ALWAYS give it back at end of cruise if you had too much. Sounds like you need to do your homework before you cruise next. Also sounds like you are not a happy person. I thought I was the only one who took complainers to task but so glad others stick up for a great Carnival cruise line.

sweetliberty13    8 years ago

My family was on the Sunshine last year at this time. We weren't disappointed in the least. We found the service and entertainment to be outstanding and the food to be what we would expect. The only irritation was disembarking - though that just goes with the territory. I thought our cruise was a great value.

Beachum    8 years ago

it is very unfortune that individuals take out their negativity on the cruise line...Carnival is the best far as I'm concerned... they make cruising affordable and fun. Everyone should take responsibility and ownership of their mistakes and not being aware if cancellation policy...everyone is always looking for a hand out for their error. hopefully you will learn from this mistake.

Macu    8 years ago

Why is it that when people screw up they always blame the cruise line. And if you didn't have a good time it's your own fault....I went on the Sunshine in September and had a great time....

lkspaddy    8 years ago

I agree with above. Sorry but it's not the cruise lines fault that 2nd person couldn't go. If they had been able to go all those issues wouldn't have been issues and you may have had a wonderful time.

sealion85139    8 years ago

I to can be disappointed, but I tell my Cruise companion, it's our responsibility to make the best of it, and not dwell on the disappointment and to maximize the enjoyment of the cruise. I think your rating was unfair, many people work very hard to make quest happy. Carnival is one of the best, and affordable Cruise lines.

TeresaC1963    8 years ago

You do know this isn't Carnivals website or their email, don't you? They will not respond at all from here. Did your partner have travel insurance? If not, there's no refund due. And no, you did not pay for 2, you paid the single rate which is double occupancy. So sounds like you got what you were due. The carry on limit is per person not per paid amount. Sorry.
