Review summary

Great value...great ship....great time....no such thing as a bad cruise. A nice variation of islands...staff was helpful. Relaxing and fun even though the ship was full to capacity we never felt crowded or rushed. Staff was a bit stretched but Carnival has to figure that out. Great food and entertainment

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Fastest ever. From the time we arrived at the port to the time we were on the ship was less than 30 minutes. We waited about an hour to get to our cabin. Upon arrival our suitcases had already arrived and our keys and welcome sheet was in the room

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was great with great variety and....no reason to go hungry 24 hours a day! Alcohol prices seem to have been jacked up since our last cruise. $9 for a mixed drink seems excessive...curbed my indulgence for sure

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Food was excellent. Choices seemed a bit more limited than past cruises. But always something"exotic" to try. Service overall was very good but it seemed the waiter and his assistants were over stretched. There seemed to be considerable down time between courses. I recognize European style of dinner is much less rushed like we "Americans" choose to eat. But the servers were all over the place...way too many tables to provide the personal service we have grown to expect with Carnival

Entertainment

3 out of 5
bar staff difficult to find. Overall cleanliness lacked. Full ashtrays abound (not a smoker) dirty glasses. Ventilation was very good considering they allow smoking! We all should like "clean air"

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Hard working entertainers! They put it all out there for "us" Great enthusiasm and energy. Although somewhat scaled back in glamour and glitz it provided fun entertainment for all. Never had trouble finding a seat even though the ship was at capacity. wait staff was around but not pestering

Service and Staff

Ok...so they are teenagers...and are all trying to carve their own path but come on parents....you don't just turn them loose. They seemed to gather outside the O2 lounge occupying seats and sofa's like they were "home" feet on the sofa. lounging like they owned the place. many were "rude" and....well in the way. As for little kids....? carnival (and parents) seemed to do a great job. In spite of a Christmas cruise with lots of kids....You barely knew they were around.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
We have been on this class of ship before...so getting around wasnt that bad. Dis I mention "PINK"? 9days on a cruise ship....I never really got the "theme" of the ship. Most public areas were clean and orderly. For an "older" ship...it had anything we could want.....EXCEPT Guys Burger Joint!!! We knew it wasn't on board before booking.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Adequate space and layout. No surprises there. Not enough electrical outlets! one 110V outlet in the cabin? With all the electronics we haul in our daily life! Cabin steward seemed a bit stretched....we didnt see him til day 3 except for an very "impersonal" business card left in the room to contact him if we needed anything. He took great care of the room...aside from being a bit slower than past cruises.....not really a complaint i guess

Ship tip

Deck 5 is where you need to be to get from bow to stern inside...or go thru the cabin floors. Deck 4 and 3 have public areas but it is a bit disjointed getting around. We have been on this class chip before so we got the flick early....not so for many others. On and off at the ports was so smooth as well as embark and debark. Carnival knows how to move people

Ports of call

Miami, Florida Did not visit port

We live in Florida....we were there to cruise!

Nassau, Bahamas

Hasnt changed in 30 years of cruising. Straw hats and jewelry. Cabbies were quite insistent. Not as bad as Jamaica but...annoying

St. John's, Antigua

Great port. A lot to do close by. We did the horse back excursion. Great time...great staff...lots of fun. Pretty Island

Basseterre, St. Kitts

4 out of 5
Pretty Island. Daughter did dolphin excursion and really enjoyed it....we were able to watch the events without paying. usual "stuff" in port. They start to look the same after a while. But still a nice place to visit

San Juan, Puerto Rico

These people need to focus on recovery from the hurricanes. I realize tourism is their industry but...Not sure Washington is doing what should be done.....talking with the locals....they still feel isolated and forgotten!

Grand Turk Island

4 out of 5
Great "beach" stop. A few local bars....great sand and beaches. Funny,,,people sit by the pool on lounges on the ship...then get off the ship to....sit by the beach and pay to sit in the lounges......oh well we all have our idea of fun

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Unrushed and orderly. Getting thru customs was simple and quick. No complaints...Carnival knows how to move people!
