Great cruise by AT332859665

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Spirit / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

The ship was great, but the evening music needs to be improved. We are in our 60's and the music we would like to have danced to was available after 11:00 most nights, and that was too late for us.

Family Anniversery Trip by ShannonC1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Spirit / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

I am/we are experienced cruisers. We were pleasantly satisfied with the Carnival Spirit. Having been on Princess in Alaska twice before, I think I would recommend Carnival above them. The ship and crew were all excellent. Shows were good and food way above average for general cruise ship fare. I would go on this ship again tomorrow!

A great experience. by KyokoS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Spirit / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

The Carnival Spirit was immaculately clean, extremely well maintained and obviously pride themselves in their excellent top notch customer service. I have to say that I was disappointed in the food, not the quantity or the selection, which was enormous, but the quality; my husband and I found the taste oftentimes bland. Not bad, but average. But everything else compensated for it; the entertainment, the punctuality (when they say they're leaving at 7pm, they're not kidding!!) The housekeeping staff and dining room staff were by far the best we've ever encountered. Kudos to you all!

A Value Cruise for first time cruisers by RamV

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Spirit / Destination: Hawaii

This was a Vulue cruise - You get what you pay for. The ship is great. The food and service can be better. This is our second cruise. Our first cruise was on Princess. Compared to Princess; Carnival has a long way to go.

The ship was nice, it seemed though that there were not enough staff to accomodate the size of the ship.

Fun Cruise San Diego to Acapulco by hopeinjamul

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Spirit / Destination: Mexico

Our first time on Carnival and we were pleasantly surprised. The layout with the atrium and adjoining areas, plus the diningrooms and theatre, were all beautiful. Our stateroom was narrow but had sufficient storage and since we upgraded to the larger balcony, did not feel squished. Family member was next door and crew opened the adjoining balcony door which made it even more enjoyable. All the staff were great and most helpful. Everything was well managed and there were enough activities to keep people happy during the total of 4 days at sea. The food was all quite good, and ample of course. Enjoyed the ports of call, especially Acapulco which is still beautiful. We opted to NOT book our shore excursions through the ship this time, since our small group had different needs and physical abilities. At each location we ventured off and hired a van driver or cab to take us around the city and beach. We had great experiences all the way around and saved at least half compared to similar excursions arranged by the ship. It helps that my husband can speak Spanish too, but most everyone was fluent in English. The embarcation and debarcation went very quickly. The evening shows were all entertaining and the chorus dancers displayed an incredable array of moves and styles. The cruise director "Chris" grows on you, and he was a hoot when giving his version of the Blues Brothers concert. We live in San Diego so this adventure was incredibly convenient. The whole experience was relaxing and fun. We would highly recommend it if you're comfortable with "down to earth" cruising and ports of call. The 8 days was just the right amount of time too.

Fabulous Sailings by TazR

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Spirit / Destination: Mexico

We had a wonderful time from start to finish. Everyone was really friendly, the food was good. Lots of variety on the lido deck. The melting chocolate cake was amazing. After eating so much it was great to go to the state of the art gym. I made great use of the sauna and steam room. If you wait a couple of days into the cruise the spa gives really good deals. And the treatments were wonderful. Entertainment was good. My boys, 10 and 9 loved camp carnival. Hesitant to go at first, but once they went, I had to fight with them to spend time with me. It was a wonderful family vacation.

not what we expected by DennisW4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Spirit / Destination: Mexico

We were very dissaponted with the costs while aboard. Drinks costs were excessive $8 to $14. We did not enjoy paying for every little thing once on board. Nothing is free except food. Even bottled water was expensive. We did not receive the rooms we wanted even though we booked early in May. They offered a room change for $250. Thanks so much. We have decided to never cruise Carnival again because of that and no one seemed to care when we told them that. A bad experience to say the least

Carnival Spirit was truly a funship! by MurrayJ

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Spirit / Destination: Mexico

This Carnival Ship has all the trappings for a fun 8 days. The crew was exceptional, and we couldn't have asked for better weather. Food is average to above average; but if you don't like the first entre' order a different one. Plenty of activities if you want; or rest if the activities aren't your thing. Don't plan on winning in the casino -- few people do. The stop in Manzanillo was a waste, but Acapulco and Ixtapa were terrific. Carnival should switch Manzanillo with Cabo and you'd have three good ports of call. The Crew was terrrific. Even though Carnival charges $10/day per person, we left our cabin steward and waiter a little extgra because they worked extra hard to please us. I suggest if your help is that good, you also leave a little extra. One warning -- Carnival charges top dollar for pictures and drinks. So if you have a good camera, take your own picks; and if you can avoid drinking booze for the week, you'll save at least $200. All in all, a very enjoyable 8 days.

Food to die for by JaniceS5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Spirit / Destination: Mexico

We were very pleased with this cruise. The ship was lovely and it was easy to find our way around. The food in all parts of the ship were exceptional, by far the best of all the 4 cruise lines I've traveled on. I do recommend skipping the port of Manzanillo in the future and hitting Hualtulco instead.

A Fantastic Cruise by TrishW

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Spirit / Destination: Mexico

Just the right size...not too big and not too small. Elegant and very comfortable. Stateroom was very comfortable and always kept immaculate. The extra large balcony was definitely a plus to pay for. Always had fun towel animals waiting for us upon our return from excellent dinners and outstanding shows! Every person on the ship's crew was super friendly and made us feel special. Plus their special dinning experience at The Supper Club was a true epicurean's delight which should not be missed.

We had a great time on this Cruise. Fun by BarbaraB15

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Spirit / Destination: Mexico

We did enjoy the size of the ship. It was great. You had enough room to get around and not feal like you were at a mall with so many people. I also liked the Casino and the Spa everyone was very friendly and our Waiter at Dinner was the best. The show were nice to. Of course the best thing I liked was our room with the balcony, what a nice view we had and the weather was nice and sunny so we could enjoy it. All in all we had a great time, we will be back soon. Thank You for a great time.
