It was my worst cruise ever I have been to Alaska one other time and it was fabulous but for some reason this cruise on the Spirt was not good
Embarkation

The line to get on the boat was like a mile long standing in the sun. Then they split the line therefore we lost our place due to others running to get in front of us. We had 2 handicapped people with hip replacements and they wouldn’t let us use the handicap line. It was about 1.5 or 2 hours to get on the boat. It is usually a nice smooth process I have never seen a embarkment this bad.

The food was horrible. I have been on 7 cruises and this by far was the worst food ever. The buffet was yucky and the nice sit down dining was just as bad. Yuck.
Onboard Activities

The pool was pretty nice no one got in it hardly but we enjoyed it. It would have been nice if they played some music, had some fun activities by the pool and people to bring ya drinks.

The games were boring as the staff was just not very outgoing therefore it was hard to get in a super fun vibe. The vibe on the whole boat was pretty boring. No fun dancing, no laughing, no outgoing fun crew members.

When we first booked our cruise a year out we were on the 8th floor mid ship by the time we left we were moved to the 1st floor.
We had to complain many times to guest services as the noise above us would wake us up. It was like they were pulling chairs across the floors along with carts that have wheels. It was very loud. We complained every night. They would go try to hear the noise and stated they didn’t hear it therefore gave us no compensation for the issues.

Ship tip
Victoria BC is not worth getting off the boat. It’s a half hour paid taxi ride to downtown and it’s late and shops be closing. Stay on the ship.
WOW! So sad you didn't enjoy a cruise that my group loved. We were on deck 8 and occasionally heard a chair being dragged on the pool deck. Also depending on the wind you could overhear conversations drifting down from above. I do agree the buffets on both Spirit and Vista have dropped in quality since the COVID stuff. The MDR though seemed up to normal but the service seemed much slower. We also enjoyed a few TRIVIA games and the youngest of our group did a little partying/dancing up by the pool. Hope your next cruise goes better for you.
Why were you moved? Did you choose a Guarantee Cabin? If so, it’s always worth paying extra to pick your cabin location. The Guarantee rates get the leftovers that no one else wants because of the noise.
You went on this same ship/cruise last year and it was fabulous but this year is totally different? What was different? Did the games by the pool or the food menu really change that much? Sorry they didn’t pay you money because they couldn’t hear any noise above your cabin. Did you hear it when they came to your cabin?
Deck 8, as in under deck 9 lido, I’d always book a cabin with other cabins above and below, and especially never under public areas with chairs that are rearranged every night.
How did you get moved from the 8th deck to 1st???? You expect people to bring you drinks as you sit in the pool? I'm so confused. Sorry your cruise was bad. Hopefully your next one is better.
I've heard that any Victoria...I guess that was a token stop to make it a lawful cruise... I think you have a good attitude and know cruising is better than this one-off experience
