Awesom Trip by WashingtonED

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was a my first Carnival Cruise, and I was not expecting it to be as wonderful as it was.  The staff was extra attentive, the food was decent, it just got a little boring after a few days, but there were many options to choose from.  The comics were funny, and the shows were entertaining.  One thing to note is that March is Spring Break season, so there were a lot of college aged kids, but if you were not in the sections where they were you could not hear them.  We had a balcony stateroom, and watching the sun rise every morning from the balcony was breathtaking.  I found myself lounging on the balcony more that I thought I would, just alone quite and peaceful. The only downfall is the process of embarkation and debarkation.  Be prepared to pack your patience.

Relaxed by btru2nash

I enjoyed my trip, didn't like that we spent a long time in Nassau and a few hours in Freeport. One thing I didn't like is it took forever to depart from the ship Sunday. That was very stressful

A vacation that you can design to meet your needs by nan7valleys

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was our first cruise and we desperately needed a relaxing get away from our "sandwich family".  We spent most of the time reading, sitting by the adult pool and relaxing on our balcony and in our room.  My husband made good use of the fitness center.  However, if activity is what you are looking for there is plenty to do on board, day and night for young and old.

We took excursions to all three ports and had a wonderful beach time each day.  The stop in Freeport was very short and the cost of the excursion we booked and the taxi fare to and from was quite costly for the hours we spent there.  Otherwise, no complaints!

Waiting for next time to go on that ship! by TeddyBear

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

was cooler than I wished, but not Canivals fault, cabin and staff was great in every way. Was in wheelchair and and did not leave ship, but had offers everywhere to help with what ever I needed. The only thing I would do next time is look for a better price.

Just average by DanfromNY

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Stateroom: clean but showing signs of wear. We took the Pride a coupe of years ago right before the 2.0 upgrade and were disappointed that it still looked run down in certain ways.

Food: Normandie was outstanding. Small portions (order multiple entrees). The buffet was OK. The Guy Fieri Burgers were over cooked and mass produced.

Entertainment: Stand-up comedy was very good. Song and dance shows not very good. More all ages karaoke. Many of the shows on certain nights were 18+.

Lido deck: The smoking section ruins it. You can smell it everywhere.

Destinations: There is not much to do in Nassau. We did a private Island day at the beach which was 4 hours. Not bad. Freeport is a huge waste of time. 5 hours with some tents and small shops selling cheap tourist stuff.

Overall: Just average. Ok for the money, but nothing that would make me tell people that they would love it.

Carnival Pride February 2016 by laheroux

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I went on this cruise with my family and 2 friends. We all had a good time. It was cold starting out and the sea was a bit choppy. I and 2 other people in my group has upset stomachs. The rest weren't bothered at all by the ship movement. But because of the high winds, most of the decks were roped off. We did go to the activities and shows. We had fun learning how to make the towel animals, going to the comedy shows, and even bingo was fun. Tj who ran bingo and towel folding was very funny and entertaining. We didn't do karaoke but it was great to watch. The ship was very nice and clean. We had an ocean view room and we thought it was great, plenty of room. The ice cream machine was not working the first 2 days but luckily they fixed it. We do love Carnival Cruises and will go again someday.

Nice time by wdelaney3d

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We've cruised quite a bit - on a variety of ships in the Caribbean and Mediterranean and mostly out of the bigger ports.  Since this was a "winter getaway", we weren't expecting the warmth and breadth of sunning that we normally get in the summertime cruises.  Generally, it was a nice cruise - crew was friendly (as expected) and things went well despite some high winds and choppy seas.  What I was most surprised at was the lack of onboard activities and entertainment - the "shows" were relegated to the trip from Baltimore to Florida on the way down and from Bahamas to Baltimore on the way back - so you only had the major evening entertainment (shows, comedy) while on sea days.  Given the lack of warmth and sun, it really cut back on things to do.  Several of the activities (such as beer pong in one of the bars one afternoon) were oversubscribed and closed out for participation before the announced sign up time.  Again, we had a nice time - comparably not the best cruise we've been on and certainly not the most jam-packed with entertainment.  For a week-long winter escape, it was enjoyable.

added per comments/questions -

We had one really nice day in Freeport, Bahamas - a glorious day spent on the beach - unfortunately it was a short shore day (only from 9am - 1pm).  Generally it seems we picked the worst possible week as a cold front went further south than usual - Florida was in the low 50s when we were there.  I think we just got an unusually cold week.  I would try it again.  Also worth noting the main pool had a retractable clear awning/roof that was closed most of the time that, even when it was colder and windy made it feel bearable, bright and certainly comfortable when out by the pool.

Oh and also, the one-man submarine excursion in Nassau was AMAZING  One of the most entertaining adventures we've done in all our cruising and certainly something that can't be done at home.  Recommend it highly.Happy

Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was a so, so cruise the bright spot is the staff.

So many thing could be a lot better, the food was poor at best, don't waste your money going to David's the food is no better there.

I ordered sparkling water for our cabin but was told it was not available yet when we wen to David's they had it to sell me then, 2 days at sea??????

I won't travel this ship again unless I see they have given it a food and beverage overhaul.

Bahama cruise with "the Carnival Pride" by markelnaomi

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

Food was excellent! Entertainment fair. Stateroom attendant outstanding!!! Bar service could have been better in lounges. There were not any bartenders servicing the tables. You had to get your own! Restaurant service outstanding!

Great time for a great price by Chemprof85

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was my 4th time taking this exact same cruise on Carnival Pride.  It is a real bargain for those of us who live close enough to Cruise Maryland to just get dropped off.  This is the first time I have taken the cruise in the winter, and I don't think I would do it again.  The seas are much rougher than in the summer, when you get to Ft Lauderdale and the Bahamas the temperatures are not warm enough for swimming even though they still sell snorkeling, etc shore excursions (avoid these in Jan and Feb)  I had a great time, however, at Walt Disney Animal Kingdom.  There were very few lines for anything, and the animals are all out trying to soak up what sun is available.  I spent most of my time on the ship and the food, service, and entertainment were well worth the price of admission if we hadn't been going anywhere.  Again - the bad weather made the ship late leaving and getting back to port, and disembarkment was very slow.  Carnival has to figure a better way of getting people off the ship.  They have rules about who goes when, but they don't really enforce them and the people who follow the rules really get screwed.  If you're looking for an elegant experience, forget Carnival.  They also don't enforce their own rules about dress and behavior in the dining rooms- it's kind of like going to Denny's.

Some good some poor by dreamchaser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The unique features of Pride are its interior artistic design, big screen movie theater and not-so-crowd dining experience. The downsides are less experienced photographers, poor quality of ingredients that meals are made, although chefs are trying their best to make them delicious and they deserve to have an honor of excellence in cooking skills.  Service are great in dining areas and in cabin areas.

Pride Feb. 7-14 by kfk657

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We had a wonderful time on this beautiful ship. The cabin was larger than we expected and the cabin steward was wonderful. The food and staff was great. We did have some rough weather but the captain was able to avoid the worst of it. He kept us informed at all times. The ship was clean and modern. We loved the Kennedy Space center in Florida. Nassau and Freeport were fun and we enjoyed our time there. It was a great vacation!

Carnival Pride- Safe cruise with little excitement by Cruiser583

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

If you like Broadway type performance after-dinner shows, like to dance and enjoy Caribbean food and fruit while visiting the Caribbean islands, this is not your ship. Evening entertainment was Steve the cruise director selecting members from the audience to perform the limbo on stage. There was great service from the crew, which was comforting. The Captain brought us to the islands and back home safely, for which we are grateful.  We would book another itinerary on another ship in the future.

Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Thanks to the help of travel specialist Melissa Lemke my husband and I enjoyed a perfect Cruise on the Pride for 10 traveling to 6 different islands in the Caribbean.  The sight were wonderful and we are loyal Carnival cruisers and the trip lived up to all that we have come to enjoy while traveling with Carnival.  We just wished it could have gone on forever

Cabin 6164 to be avoided... by lambdin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

My wife and I booked the back to back 21 night from Baltimore. We both love the ship, but NOT cabin 6164!  I'm 83 and wife is 73, so maybe if we were 50 years younger would not have minded the room temperature being 67 degrees. They finally got it fixed after many days with us huddled under the covers with coats on.

Other than that, we loved the ship, crew, and especially Lady and Adolph, our room stewards. They are the reason we give 3 stars, and not one star.
