Waste of Money by knemec

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We had to wait in line in the Port of Baltimore, Maryland for two hours standing because they were understaffed. We had a time slot of 2-2:30 to check in, but the 12-12:30 people were still waiting. Customer Service on the ship was bad. The ship is old. The food choices on the ship are bad. The drink package is a joke.

Carnival has their own island, but your drink package does not work. Our friends spent 10AM to 3PM on a great island paying $10.48 a drink and $6.60 for a beer because their drink package does not work on their own island. I have gone on other cruises and this one was the worst. Florida ports are better and faster.

The Pride by jszebin

Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I really like the food and staff. I bought a soda card and had to pay for the cup. most ships give you the cup and also have machines that you can get your own soda. i thought that just being refurbished that the Pride would be up on all that. The Punchline club was great . The main show needs to change. All and all though we had a great time

Carnival Pride 2017 by UncleCheek

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was our sixth cruise on Carnival and this time we brought family members that it was their first cruise.  We had an awesome time and our family members had such a great time that they are already looking at another cruise.

The favorite part was how friendly the staff is and how they remember you and how they bend over backwards to make sure you are having a wonderful time'

Embarkation and debarkation were a bit challenging in the Baltimore cruise terminal, but I would definitely recommend Carnival to people.

1st Cruise 2017 Bahamas by melissacruise2017

My favorite part of the cruise was the stop in Nassau. What could be done to improve my "Very Good rating to Excellent" would be upgraded bathroom and TV in our room.  We had the "OLD" box TV while other guests we traveled with had the flat screen TV. Our bathroom was out dated for the $ we spent.  Yes, I would and have recommended Carnival cruise lines to family & friends.

Perfect family getaway by rebial79

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I have a family of six. We have two older kids (13 and 11 years old) and two younger (6 and 3).  We have a difficult time finding a family outing that suites everybody. Normally the younger kids dictate what we do for fun which makes it not so great for the older kids. On this cruise, all of us had the time of our life. We needed two staterooms. The older kids had their own and my wife and I shared one with our little ones. This accommodated all of us perfectly. The older kids could do what they wanted while my wife and I had fun with the younger two. We would all get together for our excursions, a few formal dinners, and our family photo shoot (By the way, I would HIGHLY recommend Jasmina Ban for a photographer. Our photos were by far the best we've ever had.). The weather was unseasonably cold on most days but it didn't matter. We still had such a great time everyday. Carnival did so many little things that make a huge impact on our stay. They make all the logistical stuff as easy as possible. The friendly and personable staff are the second to none, hands down. To Rizwan from India, Muhammad from Indonesia, Paolo our steward, Dillon in Circle C, Matthew in Camp Carnival,  Alexander the bartender, and Jasmina our photographer, I say thank you for making our trip so wonderful.

First timers by fronko5

Never cruised before...got a suite which was very nice....food and service was good. Port calls were too short and excursions were not worth the money.

You waste 4 days going out of and returning to Baltimore on the sea......the weather sucked going south (49 knot winds). Sailed March 12-19.

The ship never stops "selling" you.....come to the art auction...buy photos of every day's event...drinks...soda...water....bottles of booze....jewelry....

Carnival Pride Baltimore to Bahamas by maryrlo98

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Loved our balcony room, food was good although more food changes from day to day on breakfast buffet and late night snack would be nice. Liked the comedy club, singer/dancer shows were entertaining as well, rock band in pub was real good. Biggest complaints were hot tub and and men's steam room was out of commission most of the week. Weather wasn't good for most of cruise so most people couldn't enjoy pools and outside areas were closed at times.

Great Cruise by scotiagirl

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean

We have sailed on The Carnival Pride many times and have always enjoyed a great experience.  We coupled this 14 days cruise with a 7 day Tampa to Tampa roundtrip the week before so we actually had 21 wonderful days in the Caribbean.  The Carnival Pride is one of the companies Spirit class ships, which means a capacity of around 2100-2300 guest.  Because of the time of the year there were only a few kids on board, so it was relatively quiet.    We throughly loved the Panama Canal part of the cruise, and of course Aruba, St Maarten and Bonaire, Limon Costa Rica was a huge disappointment, it is a commercial port city and Carnival Excursions tried to enhance any description of their trips but you can't make silk purse out of pig skin to put it bluntly.  We did the "rain Forest Adventure"-very lackluster -only exotic thing we saw were the spiders and the caged snakes.

All in all the food this time on the Pride was excellent the entertainment and "daily fun activities"  were old and stale.  Perhaps we have been with Carnival too long but nothing new in this area for us.  Having said that we loved meeting new people, spent many relaxing days in the sunshine on the decks and in the adult Serenity area pool.  Be aware in spite of warnings that it will not be allowed, other cruisers start as early as 5:30 AM staking out spots in the prime areas hours before they will actually be occupied, some stake out as many as 4 at a time just so they can move to a new location as the sun change.

We love to cruise, Carnival offers good value for the $ and they have some great destinations, we love that the ships are well maintained and spotless, we get out of every cruise everything that we want, so at that basis I am very pleased.

Wonderful itinerary by hiltzfamily

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean

On this cruise the excursions were our favorite part.  We learned a lot of history, saw beautiful countryside and met nice local people.  We did not do the tourist shopping or beach hangouts this trip.  The ship itself was very low key. There was no energy in the music performers. They were talented, just boring. They may have been booked for an "older" crowd but this group would have been ready to party if given the chance. On the other hand, the Carnival Pride dancers, although only a handful of performers, were very entertaining and worked very hard! The highlight of the cruise on sea days was the informational talks given each day on a variety of topics, including the history of the Panama canal.  The food and service were fabulous as usual.

Another day in Paradise by prettymuchnuts

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean

First let me say that my wife and I love cruising on the Pride and spending 14 days was the best.  Port by port:  Cozumel, nice port, good shopping, first time I've ever had my bags dog checked coming OFF the ship.  Panama Canal, don't know what I expected but it was that exciting.  Would have liked to have hit a port along the lake or something.  For anyone doing this, don't try watching from the upper deck, it doesn't seem like anything is happening.  Go down to windows along deck 2 or outside on deck 3.  There you can really see what is happening in the locks.  Limon, Costa Rica,  we did a great tour to see chocolate made from flower to the best chocolate I've ever eaten.  We enjoyed the port.  Aruba, WOW!  Possibly the prettiest place I've ever been.  So many beautiful beaches.  Bonaire, little shopping area, but there is nothing there but cactus.  Took a tour, The best of Bonaire.  There is no "best"!  Glad to have seen it, but there really isn't much to see.  St. Marten, one of our favorite ports in the Carribean.  Water taxi ($7 all day) takes you to Philipsburg where there is great beach ($25 for 2 chairs, umbrella, 4 drinks and free WiFi, and you could probably negotiate that price) and too much shopping for one day.

Always felt rushed on 7 day cruise, had such a better time at 14 days.

My only negative was the food in Normandie.  I don't think the choices were what they have been in the past.  There seems to be a push toward more " exotic" dishes and less choices for us meat and potatoes types.

5 Star rating!! Staff is stupendous! by Jluvspalmtrees

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was my first cruise and I absolutely loved it! The staff on the Pride were outstanding! Everyone was friendly, quick to smile, say hello! and always glad to help you in any way!  Our cabin stewards (Randy & Tut) were the best - from always keeping the ice bucket full - to the towel animals and always remembering your name!  We went to David's Steak House and loved it!!! We went back two nights later!! Embarkation went smoothly - we had FTTF and were in our room enjoying the balcony as soon as we were on the ship!

Disembarkation went even faster - we were off the ship at 8:15 - through customs and at our gate at the airport waiting for our plane 45 minutes later!

Unfortunately we made a error in the time difference and almost missed the ship in Roatan - the Captain actually waited for us for 35 mins!  We were embarrassed but sooo happy.

I cant say enough about this ship and the people who work on her - we will be back!!

Thank you!

Jenny

Awful by eblais

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This cruise was the worst i have ever taken. Don't even know where to start.... The nightly shows were repetitive...meaning when you have seen a comedian don't come back because the show is the same....what????  never heard that before... then the teenagers singing show...that is good for a high school production.... entertainment was awful...no variety.... the food was just so so...shrimp cocktail...4 little baby shrimps.... scallops....3 little bay scallops.... formal night ...nothing special on the menu....then i paid top dollar for a massage then the massage therapist really turned ugly when i didn't buy any products... at the bar, the drink of the day was different price at different bars?????? cleanliness was mediocre, you sit at a table to eat and it is dirty??? do i need to go on????

50th Anniversary Cruise with family by ejbjcruising50

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean

The eight family members that cruised with us and two of them first time cruisers that are now hooked. The shows, comedians & music were all top notch very enjoyable. Not much luck in the casino which seems to be the norm lately and better than average food. Would recommend the Pride to fellow cruisers.

Service and ship left alot to be desired by SuzyQ5220

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall we had a great time. The ship gave the appearance of being clean until you took a closer look. The windows were very dirty. The main walkways were clean but if you looked along the edges of the floor, they hadn't been cleaned in a while - they were black. The room was clean. We were notified that our balconies would be cleaned during our last day at sea. The plexiglass railing was cleaned about 3/4 of the way from the top. The rest was not touched. The ship had a terrible vibration throughout the entire cruise, except when in port.

The food was not very good. We only ate in the dining room one night. Shrimp in the shrimp cocktail were very small and warm. 2 of the 4 of us had steak. One was very overcooked, one was very undercooked. Our table waitress had an attitude and acted very stand-offish - as if we were an inconvenience. The buffet was ok - best meal was breakfast. 2 of the 4 nights we ate at the buffet had nothing we cared for. The Guy Fieri hamburger bar and Blue Iguana taco bar close early and aren't open during dinner hours so if you don't care for the dinner selections your only other option is pizza or deli sandwich. I read alot of really good reviews about the pizza. We weren't impressed. Mostly burnt and very thin crust. The deli offers the same sandwiches every day but they are good. The desserts are ok but not as good as they used to be. Fruit is always good. The midnight buffet is only a selection of about 4 items and is the exact same thing every night: ham and cheese sandwich, hot dog, chicken foccicia sandwich and the other item has slipped my mind. Room service was great.

We spent out last sea day on the 10th floor sundeck. There was only one person taking drink orders. When asked where all of his help was, his response was "that is what I would like to know". It took abut 25 minutes to get the drink I ordered after waiting almost 30 minutes to order it in the first place.

Jessica in Guest Relations was the most unprofessional customer service person I have ever had the misfortune to be in contact with. After reporting a missing item from our room, she was very rude. When checking to see if the item had been found the next day, she was very nasty toward me and implied that I was lying. My 3rd encounter with her was the morning of our final island port. We purchased Faster to the Fun ($60 extra) and had an early shore excursion - not booked through the ship. We had to get off the ship as soon as possible to make it to our pickup point on time. She told us that we would not be able to be one of the first to get off the ship (after diamonds and platinums) because this was not a tender port and we were not in a suite - that only suite guests qualified for faster to the fun. When I showed her the letter I received the night before that stated I was to meet at that location at that time and was included in the early departure she said that was a mistake and I was not eligible. She told this to more people than just me and had many people very upset. Another guest services person was able to clarify and we were one of the first groups off the ship.

The shows were ok, the comedians were excellent. Many of the lounges don't open until very late - after 11 pm, if they open at all. The casino machines were super tight - very little payout. I heard many repeat cruisers commenting on this also.

Overall we had a good time. Our room steward was excellent, bar staff was very friendly. Guy Fieri hamburgers are really good - just wish they were available later.

The ship needs a good head to toe cleaning and some of the staff needs re-training. I will cruise again, but not on this ship.

Awesome cruise by BMW78

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Had a great time on Carnival Pride. Only one thing we wanted but didn't get was the anytime dining. We like that better than having a set time. Rooms was great, perfect location on the ship, deck 8 and next to pool stairwell. Check in was easy and very fast. Will book again on Carnival and through ! Thank you Peter, you hooked us up!

Carnival pride ride by Cruiser67174273

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My favorite part was just the relaxing and doing nothing

the only part that could use review was the amount of workers in the red and blue bars. Many times we only saw one server who was working as fast as possible but people were two and three deep.  You would sell a lot more if you could provide faster.  Also we sat at second pool and only saw one server for all the people back there

I would recommend this tour for anyone wanted dun snd relaxation

Very nice older ship by lovintocruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Very nice get a way aboard the Pride. We had not been to Tampa and many years and decided to combine a Busch Gardens visit with a cruise. The cruise was very relaxing with great weather. The food was very good, the room was nice and the ship was very clean. I love the Guy's burger joint had lunch there everyday. The food at David's steak house is a little pricey and then my wife got a very tough filet during our dining experience. The ships entertainment is questionable when the karaoke and love and marriage game is better.

Did not like the casino at all. Not enough slots which also need to be updated. Need sugar free desserts for people with diabetes. Free drinks while gambling.
