I had a good time.... by phoenixraquel
Sail date: /Ship: Carnival Pride
I had a good time. The decor was very nice and I liked the layout. Time really flew by, especially since our ship was late so it felt like we lost a day. I don’t see how people do 3 - 5 day cruises. I wish time stood still for a while. Lol. STAFF Most of the staff was friendly. There were a few rude workers, but that doesn’t spoil the bunch. I try to be understanding because I use to work in customer service, and some days it was hard to put on a happy face cause I was just over it sometimes. So I get it, but compared to other ships so far this one comes last in friendliness. The Room We got an extended balcony. The room was a nice size and there was no odor. I was happy about that. I liked our room for the most part. The only downside was it got really hot from like 1am to 5am every night. We kept sweating and it was hard to get comfortable during that time. We never had a balcony before so I don’t know if that had something to do with it. I should’ve listened to others and brought a fan. The ship also made a weird howling noise and that also made it hard to sleep. (It wasn’t every night though) My husband used his ear plugs and I used my headphones so it wasn’t too bad. The last minor con was the key card. It took 5 to 30 tries to get the key to work. It wasn’t a huge deal, just a minor annoyance. FOOD I thought it was funny that on this ship it was the opposite. I usually eat at guys burgers and blue iguana, but I only ate at those places once. I loved the main dining room food on this ship (its usually a hit or miss to me, but on this ship it was a hit all the way). Everything was wonderfully prepared. David’s steakhouse was good. I didn’t enjoy Fahrenheit 555 on the last ship, but I enjoyed my entire meal at David’s. My husband did not, for the price he thought it should be better. He did enjoy the dessert though. We got the chocolate sampler. So good! Bonsai Sushi was the same as last year, not that great. We got different things, but it was still mediocre. I will say the wagyu kakuni appetizer was really good, but you only get 2 pieces. If they make it a meal and give you more I would get it every time. This was the first time that I tried sea day brunch. During the first seaday it was so good. We ordered so much food. I can’t believe we missed out last cruise. My husband said it was the best meal that he had ever eaten on carnival. It was really good you guys. We went again on the last seaday, but it was a different experience. We had a rude waiter that day (had a attitude and kept disappearing for extremely long periods) and he didn’t give us everything we ordered. A lot of things were missing and my husband had a hair under his steak. We left without dessert that day just so we could get out of there. I’m sure it was a fluke. Just one of those days I guess. The pizza place wasn’t as good as the one on the sunshine. The late night buffet was still good though. They cook their buffalo sandwiches differently, but it was still good. They had great ice cream and froyo. I loved that they had strawberry. They kept running out, and I can see why it was so delicious. A SPECIAL THANKS to whoever said to bring Oreos for the ice cream. I can’t remember who said it, but someone mentioned it on this app and it was a great tip! I enjoyed an Oreo milkshake every other night. Someone asked if this ship had Tea Time, and yes they do. I went to tea time and they had a couple of sandwiches and lots of desserts (along with tea of course). It wasn’t something different to try. BAR/Drinks I listened to everyone and you guys were right. “A Kiss On The Lips” was amazing!! I had one from beauties and I had one from the red frog rum bar. I loved it. I also had a painkiller from red frog, and a MVP from the skybox. They were okay. Next time it will be kiss on the lips everyday. Lol Extra Pros and Cons One huge pro was that we never had to wait long for an elevator. One always came quick. Another pro is that we didn’t have to wait for a table in the dining room. We had your time dining and we never had to wait. Last year in the sunshine we had to wait 20-30 mins every night. Another thing that I enjoyed was the stairs at David’s. It might sound strange but it gave me so many laughs (especially the first day). If you’re afraid of heights then you know what I’m talking about. Watching people go down them was hilarious. My husband is afraid of heights so I got some good videos of his attempts. It gave us some great laughs. 🤣 One con was the size of the serenity area. It was much smaller on this ship. I could never get a round bed thingy, which is my favorite. Excursions We did the Disney excursion in port Canaveral. Had a great time and had more than enough time. (I did a separate review with details in the port Canaveral section) We didn’t do an excursion in Nassau or Freeport, but we still had a good time. Final thoughts: All in all I would go back on this ship. So far it’s it my fav, but it was good enough to go back. My husband said he wouldn’t go back. After next year we will try a larger ship. Sorry so long.
