Review summary

I understand that the ship line is coming back from Covid and it is a process. Overall it was a good cruise. It was different due to less ship activities and the cabin cleaning. Carnival has changed procedures on a few things and it may affect loyalty. One thing different is they no longer welcome those VIPF gold members (can speak for the other VIPF levels) with a bottle of water in the cabin, the gold pin and the certificate for free drink on last night. No one informed us of this so after two days I went to guest services. I found out that you have to go to the bar and order water and they will give you your bottle at no cost. You have to go to the Pixel Studio to get your gold pin. When I went up there the worker handed me a photo album. Told him I just wanted my pin. He said they are out and this is what I get. I have collected pins from every cruise and was disappointed I didn't get one for this. How can Carnival who knew who the VIPF members were not have enough pins. I still don't know if I got a free drink on last night. This showed me that Carnival doesn't value the loyal customers. Also, the other issue is Carnival didn't Carnival has given those of us who own 100+ shares of stock and onboard credit. I submitted the paperwork and was approved. The credit didn't show up on my account and when I asked guest services the reply is Carnival is no longer doing this. Hmmm....was approved for it and they didn't honor this and never informed us. I am disappointed in the lack of loyalty to repeat loyal customers. They must learn that loyalty is a two way street and if you don't show loyalty you won't receive it back.

Embarkation

The way they do the appointment and embarking process is very efficient and quick. I was impressed.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was very good. We only ate in the dining room and of, course Guys which were perfect.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
There weren't as many activities as on previous cruising. We did the Comedy Club and Karaoke most of the time and they were both very good. Our group wish Karaoke was in the evenings instead of 4:30 in the afternoon. It is an activity a lot enjoy and I think you would get a bigger group if it was after dinner.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The comedians were good. There was a singer by the name of Rob who we really enjoyed.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The wait staff were fabulous. They were so attentive, friendly and good. I did love the maitre d' on this ship was so engaging and was always in the dining room. Every night he sang and had a beautiful voice and his staff danced. The housekeeping was as good as they could be with the limited staff. Service has really been cut back. Your room is done once a day now and you can pick the time - either morning or evening. The young housekeeper was so overwhelmed by the amount he had to do alone. Even though he was overwhelmed, I cannot complain about the job he did...he did an outstanding job.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Windows in Lido were dirty and were never clean. Sat on the balcony in our room and it had rust. Whoever painted the balcony in the past were quite sloppy. Our deck chair was splattered with white pain. Ship is dated and needs to updated and maintained better.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was nice other than the stain on the couch in the room. It was a large stain. Everything else seemed to be great. It was clean.

Ports of call

Tampa, Florida

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

Boring. It certainly wasn't a great replacement for Grand Cayman.

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

Belize City, Belize

We went cavetubing. Carnival got it right on how they did the tendering in this port. It flowed so well. Good job.

Cozumel, Mexico

Thanks for sharing your cruise.

Oh, and the free drink it still available. It is on your sail/sign card but is only available at the sea day brunch (as I recall).

The free water thing is written stating go to any bar and you can get it. The pin thing is generic now and in the past when they were out you just needed to write or call or email home office and they mailed it to you. The stock credit is still available. Make sure you print out your invoice which shows the credit before you sail, as you won't get it afterwards as it appears as onboard credit only.

I see most issues are do to staff training, hopefully this will improve

Appreciate your feedback. Sorry you didn’t get your pin, but they are generic with just the year for Gold, Platinum and Diamond (all the same pin). It’s good you checked as many people complain about it without asking. If you go to the VIFP section on Carnival, it will tell you about this in detail. If we lived near you, we have an extra pin.

Carnival is still doing OBC for owning stock. Every time we have cruised this year we have received it. And yes, you have to go hunting for your rewards. Thanks for sharing.
