Review summary

I loved the route but the ship left a lot to be desired. I will go back to Alaska (this was my third trip there) and there is so much to see and do. Carnival did a great job with the naturalist lectures and other programs. I do think this program could even be more immersive with additional lectures (twice a day rather than just one) focused on Alaska and the individual ports (not shopping lectures, but highlight of each port lectures).

Embarkation

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Carnival food is nothing special but you will not go hungry.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The naturalist lectures were fantastic, as were some of the other lecture activities. The ship itself is older so not any special bells and whistles.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The entertainment was fine

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Most tried their best. Cabin was well taken care of.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship is old (she's showing her age) and did not appear to be as spotless as some of my previous cruises with other brands.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Cabin was good overall except for the smell from the bathroom (sewer smell) and the temps at night were very cold. The balcony appeared to be leaking cold air and the ship overall was not heated very well.

Ship tip

For shorter trips probably not a bad ship but she showed her age on this longer trip.

Ports of call

Sitka, Alaska

3 out of 5
Okay port. Was very rainy when we visited so I did not get to explore like I wanted to.

Juneau, Alaska

4 out of 5
I like Juneau and did a whale watching tour. Very fun.

Skagway, Alaska

4 out of 5
Always a great port and weather was beautiful. Wonderful views.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

5 out of 5
My favorite port. From the smell of the bonfires when you arrive to the hiking opportunities, this is a unique port that is NOT about t shirt shops.

Cruise Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska

5 out of 5
Great cruise down the fjord to the glacier. Took this route in 2015 and it never disappoints.

Ketchikan, Alaska

4 out of 5
Did a very fun hovercraft tour, highly recommend. Ketchikan is a fun easy off and on port.

Prince Rupert, British Columbia

4 out of 5
Had never been to this port, was nice to walk around and do a little shopping.

Disembarkation

Was a nightmare getting off the ship and getting a porter in long beach. I have never seen such a disorganized mess.
