Review summary

This was an amazing cruise. I will definitely plan another Alaskan cruise again. The crew of the Miracle sure know how to make everyone comfortable. I will be taking another cruise on her again after the short dry dock that is happening very soon.

Embarkation

Dropping off the luggage for checked luggage is a bit of a mess, but with experience in this newer port it will be better. Everything else from there was a breeze and on the boat within 30 minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food in all areas was a hit or miss. No real consistency in all places. The first elegant night the steak and lobster was cooked to perfection but on the last night both was overcooked. We found all the soups and sauces to be outstanding. The dining staff in all areas were exceptional. Made, Dennis and Paul in MDR were amazing and easy to chat with.

My family has a ritual that every time we walk by these machines that we always get one. Sometimes we walk by 3-4 times a day 🤪

Bacchus Dining Room

Dining team was great.

The Carnival Deli

Sandwiches were great. Even their grilled cheese sandwich helped cure the seasick I got on the first seaday.

JavaBlue Cafe'

The ladies were great to chat with but the coffee and chai tea was a bit more watery then what I'm used to

Bonsai Sushi Express

4 out of 5

Sushi was ok but we are used to many varieties available to us at home that it isn't really fair.

Lido Marketplace

Hit and miss at times. The biscuits for the biscuits n gravy is really hard be prepared not to loss any teeth.

Nick & Nora's Steakhouse

Brunch was a 5 but dinner the next night was a 3. Not sure what happened but we will go back.

Only saw the PG comedians but they had my teenage girls and I giggling.

Onboard Activities

Ulysses Main Pool

I swear my teenagers turned into mermaids after this cruise. Pool was heated.

Guest Services / Shore Excursions

They were very quick in getting us new cards but they kept peeling. We never had troubles with this before.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
There was 3 different shows which were good. When the DJ was on Lido there was barely any body dancing, which is typical for this itinerary but it was strange. The comedians were funny.

Cherry on Top

Great variety of candy

Service and Staff

Simply amazing people everywhere. Our vacation was made unbeatable by these hard working people.

Ship Quality

The layout was easy to navigate. I think I like the closer feeling of a smaller ship. I could see the crew cleaning everywhere at all times of the day.

Cabin / Stateroom

Great location. I tend to pick mid and low since I get motion sickness. The room steward, Joe was great. Found out that he had girls the same age as my girls so we hit it off right away.

Ship tip

Make sure to download the Carnival app because it is needed for almost everything now.

We did the Mendenhall Glacier/Salmon Hatchery/Salmon Bake through Carnival. The glacier was phenomenal and lots of great pictures were taken. The hatchery was a quick 30 minutes. The sea lions stole the show at the beginning though. Those cute lil trouble makers kept getting into a section of fish and eating some😮🤣. At the salmon bake they have the most AMAZING salmon. I think all of us went back 3 times.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

Beautiful port and the locals are fun to chat with about how they live. We did the Spasski Wildlife excursion though Carnival. We got to see a bald eagle and it's juvenile sitting in a tree. When we got to the first platform all we had to wait was 5 minutes before the first bear appeared. He was as happily chasing down salmon. We followed him on the each of the 3 platforms for about 30 minutes. While back on the bus we encountered a cheeky bear on the road that wouldn't share the road. We followed him for a good 10 minutes.

Skagway, Alaska

It was a tender port, in which due to which windy conditions we couldn't get off ship.

We did the Butchart Gardens tour though Carnival. I wish we could have spent more time because it was so pretty. Even my teenage girls enjoyed it.

Cruise Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska

We decided not to do the small boat excursion. Our ship went down most of the way so we were able to see and get some great pictures. We even got some family pics in front of it from Pixels.
