All in all we loved this cruise - looked forward to it for a long time and it did not disappoint with the exception of the Skagway cancellation. The people needing to get off the ship right away at each port for early excursions had a rough time. I think a better system needs to be put in place rather than first come first serve as people lined up an entire hour ahead of time like sardines (not good for Covid). Dining in the main dining room is our go to every evening as it is so relaxing, the servers are so attentive, and the food is excellent. The deli is a plus to have available when needed as well as the pizza. I wish the salad bar would remain open all day. We had a great time and would love to go back again!
Embarkation
3 out of 5
This port did not have the ability to pull up and drop off luggage to a porter. There was a long line outside with people pushing ang pulling all their luggage to get to the area to check it in. Never saw that before.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
MDR is always my favorite and it did not disappoint. Great service, great food.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Did more watching than participating. We love the casino and that was great fun. The naturalist on board was very informative and prepared us for the next stop.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
We always seemed to miss the major shows. The times coincided with our preferred dining time.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
I can't say enough about the service and staff - they are so attentive, always ready to do more for you.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Everything was clean and well maintained. I loved the layout of this ship. The only thing is that the zig zag hallways to the rooms confuses you a bit until you learn your way.
The lido dining had too many large tables and not enough 2-4 seaters. That made it difficult to find a table without intruding on others. Luckily everyone we approached were friendly and allowed us to sit at their table.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
This was the largest balcony and room we have ever had. It was so spacious - loved it!
Ship tip
Be sure to attend the informational sessions. And keep an ear out for the naturalist as he lets you know when their are whales to see from the ship.
We were all bummed as they had to cancel this port due to high winds and having to rely on water taxis since the Carnival dock was damaged. This was a big disappointment as you can imagine since this is the number one tourist highlight of a visit to Alaska. Wish Carnival could have an alternate way to get to this port. Or time it so as to rent one of the other docks when not in use.
Loved this port - rode the sky cables to the top and took a hike. Went on a wilderness trip and saw bears, sea otters, eagles. Ate reindeer chili (excellent) and dungenous crab at the Crab Shack.
Our time was cut short here - just not enough time to explore the area or go to the famous gardens. We did get Halibut fish and chips that were incredible.
