Review summary

Wonderful cruise regardless of any negative feedback I provided. The ship was clean, the food not so good. 80% of staff is not happy to wait on you but had a great time in spite of that. One of the comdians joked that Carnival is the Walmart of cruising. lol. So if you think you need something snootier than dont cruise on Carnival. Maybe burn out for the employees. Great cruise anyway. Just be kind, we dont know what their life is like.

Embarkation

Not sure the SF Cruise Port workers were too helpful. The line to drop off bags was as long or longer than the line to get on the ship. Thankfully our Uber driver dropped us in the right spot. Didnt have to wait in line too long maybe 45 minutes

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
The food quality seems to have declined since our last cruise in Sept 2021. The choices are limited and even specialty steakhouse food was just ok. Maybe we will use corona virus as an excuse for everything for next 20 years. I realize supply chain makes getting quality food difficult. Miss the old days of cruising when every meal in the main dining room was a big deal!

Onboard Activities

Didn’t really go to any shows other than the comedy club almost every night and we enjoyed that!

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Our room steward was awesome and went out of his way to help us. Dining room staff seemed like they were doing us a favor by waiting on us. Maybe they are not given appreciation enough and has made them callous. Dont be in service if you dont want to serve people. I miss seeing smiles and all you see is masks. Can’t understand them with it on. It is not personal touch anymore! But very grateful to be able to cruise!

anytime you have a balcony it is a great room. All the lamps had usb ports for charging. Lots of storage and bathroom is great size with double sinks and a tub!

Ship tip

If you are going to Alaska book shore excursions early if you have your heart set on one. Get to know the layout early. Enjoy!

Ports of call

Victoria, British Columbia

3 out of 5
Victoria is so beautiful! Not enough time in port. 8:00 am to 12 pm and the Canadians are very fussy about when, why, and how you are coming to their country. Lot of red tape to visit for four hours.

Juneau, Alaska

Love Juneau! Ride the tram and eat at Tracy’s King Crab Shack! 👍👍👍👍

San Francisco, California

SF has changed so much. Last time here 2014. Don’t remember it being so dirty and smelling like urine on every street. Lots of homeless people you wish you could help. SF landmarks still beautiful!

Cruise Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska

Did the close up tour to see Sawyer Glacier and it was breathtaking. Highly recommend!

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska
