Not what I expected from a cruise line. by EdgarD

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall, our expecriece was good. It was our first time on Carnival. We had clean rooms, good food and fine entertainment. However, communication to passengers was poor during a delayed departure due to fog. We were left for hours without any updates....not even a "no change status" while other passengers from other ships were routinely told what to expect. Although staff was pleasant, being accomadating was not high on the list...frequently heard "not my job". Often not attentive to detail such as use of hand sanitizers by all entering in dining room especially during flu season; little effort in cleaning table tops between patrons; cleaning place settings in DR between servings. Carnival gives you an OK experience but very laid back.

cruising by seacruiser

Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I enjoyed the cruise after it got going, hanging around the port of Tampa for ten hours was not very enjoyable. I did however not enjoy the dinning room at all, most food was cold. I am a people person and did not have dinner with the same people twice as we neverrver went to dinner at the late dinner which I tried to change, and was not able too,It was just like Norwegian ,which I no longer go on. I hope if I ever go on Carnival again, the food will be better and that I can have table mates for the whole cruise. The cold food was not very good and by the time they brought more others were finished

Disappointed by Likescruises

Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our cruise started late because of fog. After standing in line for 21/2 hrs.we finally got on the ship.We were kindofput out that we did not receive an evening meal inthe dinning room. The $15.00 refund @ did NOT cover what I felt we gave up.Our dinner wait staff was great and our room steward and staff was great. Our cruise overall was a bit of a letdown.I thought the food was ok but the mahi-mahi was not very good at all the lobsters were really small.normally I eat chocolate melting cake about every night but I did not get any that were cooked right all week.We will keep cruising but not on the Legend. Thank you Dan Smith

For the money this was a great cruise. The staff were wonderful when the ship was delayed for debarkation due to fog fpr 8 hours. They quickly set up entertainment and had lunch served, and we were allowed to stay in our rooms.

Carnival Legend by carnivalfamcrui

I requested early seating and was never notified that we got late seating for 8:15pm. Got it changes next day but our party of 4 was seperated for the remainder of cruise. Our waiter served my husband first and refilled his water but never mine, he was not friendly. My daughter and my sister were at a seperate table, we could not see, and their waiter didn't bring water or rolls without asking and never received refills. The entre's were not the best or near good as we have had on our 12 other cruises, they were not hot and I can have meatloaf, grilled chicken and lasagna at home. The formal night we had the smallest lobster tail I ever say and seconds were a thing of the past. When we got to our room after entering the ship, it was not vaccumed and the counters were not washed. Our room attendant never introduced himself. We looked forward to the casino, but it was so smokey we couldn't stay. There were only 3 shows in the theatre and 2 of them were the cruise dancers. We would not take another Carnival cruise because of the bad service we received. The ship was clean and other servers were friendly. the buffet was better than the dining room. We did like the appitizers and the desserts. Joseph and Nancy Wright

Great trip! by Cruisingfriends

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was my 4th cruise, the first on a Carnival ship. The whole check in went very smoothly, from the available valet parking (for just $20 more), to checking in and getting our room cards, to embarking on the ship was quick and easy. I had read reviews of this cruise and some of them were a bit off putting, but I decided a long time ago to just trust the majority and try it out. Well, I was more than surprised at how great things were. The staff was friendly and helpful, the ship was clean and fresh and the staterooms (we had an interior) were much larger than other cruise line ships. The food was tasty, plentiful and enjoyed by all of us. I would gladly do this cruise again.

A ship of dreams (nightmares) by AWR

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Would not recommend this cruise, there was not enough for older folks to do except to spend money. Would you believe it, the only band you could dance to lip sinc'd the enitre trip, asked if they could play some Frank Sinatra and the drummer looked at me like I was from Mars and had no idea who Sinatra was. Poor dance venues, only place to dance was in a public passage way. Plenty of good dance floors on board but they used them for cigar bars. The cruise director needs to be replaced. Unless the waiter or assistant waiter was your server, they would walk in front of you and expect your to get out of their way. Other non-tip crew members were rude and not helpful unless you were spending money.

Cruising the Caribbean was awesome! by FrazierC

Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

From the moment we got on board to the time we left, we had a good time. Our stateroom and balcony were very nice. The ship was always clean and the crew we had contact with offered great service. The excursion were good, but not always what we expected, however, that made it even more of an adventure. We enjoyed the dining room experience and the people we met at our table. Each evening we enjoyed the band, Bestsellers, and even enjoyed some dancing, although dancing space was limited. For us, The Bestsellers were the best music on the ship. It was a great cruise and the seven days went by way too quickly.

relaxing by 1sttimecruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The trip was fantastic, but make sure you verify where you will be docking. we were supposed to port in Belize, but they ended up changing it at the last minute. The excursions were great, but you can usually find less expensive ones if you don't do them through the ship. If you are leaving from Tampa, it is less expensive to hire a taxi then it is to take the shuttle if you have more than two people going to the boat. the food was pretty good, but the deserts were not. Most of them were either way to rich or really bland. There is a ton of fresh fruit and salad, so you can eat pretty healthy if you want. the pizza and sandwiches were awesome.

The Legend by Winemaker

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This ship was beautiful and does not deserve the Carnival reputation. Although the food could have been better at times, the room was great - lots of space. Their bathroom design is excellent. The crew seems to work well together as a team and we did not see the usual disgruntled employees. The staff was extremely helpful to people in need and most pleasant and attentive. It made all the difference in the world as to my attitude and how much fun I thought I had.

disapointed by Stephens1stcrui

all I have heard is how great the cruises are and the food will be great, NOT SO. Over all not terrible but the food was only prepackaged frozen for the most part but the Deli meats were horrible, the scrambled eggs served were worse than military eggs, the fried shrimp was worse than Gorden's frozen from the grocery store. although there were some greats served. the flat iron steak, the prime rib, lobster and all the deserts were great, served from the dinner menu. The buffet did have decent pizza, hamburgers, hotdogs and a small sampling of sushi. O yeah the Chinese food also saved the day. The crew as fantastic except.. serving the soft drinks that we paid over $50 for unlimited soda's. When we ordered we were always the last to get service, waiting up to 15 minutes before walking away to another bar to get a soda. The shows were a delight and so professional, but the cruise director should have been fired long ago. First of all we only saw him on the TV for most of the time. We did see him from a distance at a show but never around the ship. We did see him on a tender coming back from a port of call. He (David) was sitting facing us with a young gal. He never looked at us, said hi, smiled, asked how we liked our cruise... NOTHING LIKE WE WERE DEAD. I was asked to depart the tender first as I was using a cane. David said behind me " I should get a cane to get off first" in a smart ass way. I wish he had what I had to need a cane. Carnival advertized Belize and we expected it, They have not used that port for a while and they still advertize it. While driving around the Golf for days might seem like fun, it is not if you expect to hit 4 cruise ports and only hit 3 with 4 days of driding around. . .

carnival cruise by gabejones

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)

This cruise was money wasted. For the price you pay the over all vacation is not worth it. Service was slow at best. Ordered room service one time and never recieved or order. People were nice but few spoke clear English. Buffet food was the worst food I have ever eaten on a vacation. Getting off the doat was a real hassle. They would only have one gang plank for exiting the boat, when everyone was trying to get off and two to get back on when it wasn't busy. I am a fireman and the way they had us getting ready to disembark from the boat can only be classified as dangerous and unorganized. If there is a ship emergency during this time there will be massive ininjury and confusion. They claim safety but if felt more like trying to herd cattle as fast as they could.

everything was great but with some problems by lilbear

Cozumel was as expected and the excursion was coordinated correctly. We didn’t look around, we went on an excursion, but the people who didn’t go on an excursion loved it and seemed to have a fantastic time. We went to the Mayan ruins, had a good time. People can’t get on the ruins anymore but it was still fantastic to see. Belize was NOT what was expected. I recommend you do an excursion, if not; you will be on a dock like area about 300 feet long and about half a block deep. Unless you LOVE buying jewelry and EXTREMELY high priced T-shirts, don’t just stop at Belize. Do an excursion! Honduras was great! Beautiful Port area, wide open, clean, new looking, and things seemed to be priced right. Go check out the Passport stamp area. You get a stamp in your passport for a donation! No other place offers that. Honduras actually did not give you a long time, which is a shame because we had a blast! We went on the excursion to Tabyana Beach Break, that is the place to go if you like sitting under a palm tree, hear the waves, and occasionally or all the time, play in the water. When we first got there, the venders were annoying but the staff made them stay on the borders of the property and not mingle with the guests. Cayman Islands is another Excursion place. It did have the 7 mile beach and you spend a long time there, it also had jewelry, jewelry, jewelry stores Galore! It seemed that the entire place was a jewelry store. The cabs offer to take you to the beach for 40$ but you can ride the public buses (which are minivans with a 'WB#" on them and they will honk as they come up on you and you just have to wave) that costs $2.50 per person each way to just about anywhere on the island it didn’t get over 4$ per person.

Slow start in Tampa- turned into lots of FUN! by YorkPACruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our ship was "fogged" out of Tampa Bay and about 10 hours late getting to the pier for boarding. Carnival was very accommodating; crediting our account for lunch, dinner and the first day's gratuity. This was our first vacation with Carnival. What started slow, turned into a very enjoyable vacation. Ship's staff was very nice and always available when we needed them. They were not pushy. The dance/vocal troupe was very good and the comedy club was the HOT ticket every night. The "adult" deck was called Serenity. It was a great place to go for some quiet time. We snorkeled at each stop. Water was amazing, reef beautiful, and fish were plentiful (for viewing). When we returned to Tampa, we chose to self-disembark. If you have limited sizes and amounts of luggage, you may be among the first to disembark. Anyone who has spent the morning in the theater or at one of the many other places passengers wait onboard, should appreciate this perk.

it was agood time after we got on the cruise after a fog delay that didnt let us board till 10 that night!!we really had a good time but the food at the all night buffet and breakfeast was really bad they had powdered eggs...yuck and nowhere on the ship was there any seafood except shrimp????with room service for breakfeast all you could get is continentil which should have been more variety and more than just continental with powdered eggs!!mad it bad for people who wanted to sleep in.the casino pays out nothing we saw noone winning anything and theres nothing to do during the day on the ship unless you get off at a port.all and all everyone was freindly and enjoyed the new cheers program and loved cayman island absoultly gorgious!!!!zip lining in hondourous was awsome too think they need better food quality and more activities on the ship during the day but with that said we will defenitly cruise again!!!

I like smaller ships. This line seems to want to get more passengers aboard and has less amenities.

The size was good, the decor a little too glitzy for my tastes, but had many areas to satisfy all needs, including quiet reading, water activities, games, etc.
