I was cruise on Legend again. Alaska was absolutely beautiful and a must see. This is the first time we haven't done Carribean so packing was difficult. Layering is best. We were there first of June and mornings were very cool, but by afternoon it was a beautiful day. Hot Tub in serenity was broken so one day they made the pool hot. That was fantastic getting into while waiting to leave port. Legend is smaller but don't discount. We didn't have any long lines and ease of getting on ship was nice too. Balcony isn't necessary for the cost difference unless you are someone that spends a great deal of time in room. We enjoyed being on deck and the ability to move around with the Nature person spotted different things in the water.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
So easy, very organized, walk straight on with no wait
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The food with Carnival as a whole in my opinion has gone down in quality in the MDR. Guys Burgers, Blue Iguana and the Deli are the best options for good quality fresh tasting food.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
The did a good job of having multiple activities available for all ages. One thing I missed was an outdoor screen for movie nights. Its just not the same going to a indoor room to watch.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The shows were the best that I have seen in a long time. All new shows, good talent covered many genres and age groups. Comedians were good and had real content that was funny and not offensive.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Wait staff top notch, room steward did a good job cleaning but kept forgetting the ice we requested for each night. CD amazing and so was entertainment staff. My 3 starts due to Guest Service was the absolute worse we have ever seen. Didn't know what they were doing, were rude and never resolved our issue.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
i liked the different design with the clubs on lower levels. The ship was easy to get around on and was always very clean.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Cabin was very clean. I've never been on the 1st floor before. I liked that the comedian and variety shows were a quick walk around corner or one flight up. I did not like at all the noise above us. If you want to go to bed early this is not cabin for you. You will hear music and chairs rubbing floors all night until after midnight. AC was broken. we were told the thermostat was broken ( within 5 minutes of them coming in room). They never fixed it for us so room was very warm and we finally had to request a fan to sleep. View was good from window.
Ship tip
make sure you check what is above and around your cabin. Layout is different then other ships we have been on with Carnival.
We went up to the top decks to see the scenery which is absolutely beautiful. I am sure the boat excursion was very worth it, but we did not do since we had excursions in other ports
We did the Dog Sled Discovery and it did not disappoint. We got to see the animals up close and personal. Would highly recommend this excursion. Great guides. Really enjoyed all the history info as well.
We did the VIP whales and glaciers and saw 6 different whales two of which had offspring. Also got to see a wall of seals. Really enjoyed this excursion and would highly recommend
not a lot to see in this port. We did the hoveraround excursion. This was a disappointment as we did not see any sea life. The only cool thing was the bald eagles. they stop and throw frozen fish in water. Eagles fly out and dive to get. Other than that felt the description misrepresented and not worth the price of the excursion. Seemed like was a new excursion too that they didn't have all figured out. It does not glide over land either like it says.
I do not see the point of going here at 7:30 at nite but required as part of international law we were told. Alot of things were closed. We walked around for a little while, shops were very expensive. It was pretty but would have rather stayed on board ship due to night before we got back.
