Review summary
This cruise was our first time cruising. We had a great time! It was amazing seeing all the wildlife from the ship. We saw whales, sea lions, and porpoises. We got extremely spoiled with all of the great service on board. The staff on Lido deck did an excellent job of keeping everything clean. The dining area on Lido deck was very busy and often crowded, but the staff was always friendly and efficient at clearing the tables and making room for everyone. We had a balcony room, which was really quite roomy. The closet/storage space was more than enough room for all of our clothes. It was really nice having a private balcony, but I think if we were to take another Alaskan cruise, we would not get a balcony. We didn't spend much time there because it was too cold to really be comfortable. Our cabin steward, Papas, was phenomenal! He was so nice to us and took great care of us. He always greeted us by name when we saw him. I thought he just knew our names from a list or something, but he really remembered our names and faces. The only thing I would have liked more from this cruise is to have been able to stay at the ports longer. We planned excursions at every port and by the time we were finished with them, it was already time to leave. I know this probably isn't possible because the ship is on a tight schedule, but it would have been nice to walk around the towns a little bit. We were pretty nervous that it was going to take a long time to get on and off the ship, but we didn't have any problems. In Seattle, we didn't have to wait in line at all to get on the ship. When we left and came back from excursions, there was always a line, but it always moved really quickly. I had read reviews that said it can take hours to get off the ship after the cruise, but once again we didn't have any wait at all.
