Winter escape by lucentum

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This cruise fulfilled my need. It was a cruise to get some sun, get pampered, and relax, nothing else. Cruising is my regular vacation and escape, doing it twice per year. Once in the winter, for a week, looking for sun and relax. The big one in the summer, 2 weeks+, where the sites are most important. This cruise was a winter cruise. The ship was dirty, staff unprofessional, cafeteria food, and portion of the ship was under construction with its noise and smells...The ports where mostly un accessible  for people in scooter or wheelchair

Glory cruise ship dump by Jackson313

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The favorite part was looking forward to the next morning at a different port.  The cruise ship was the dumps. on the Lido deck they had the water slide close / roped off for repairs.  The maintenance was done on the ship (welding, restructure / building, fixing out of date equipment.  This ship "Glory" should have been docked and not in use to cruise passenger's.  I had an balcony room and the smell from the welding was awful every morning.

Glory is a old out dated ship to cruise for seven days.

carnival glory/ 2/11/17 by HowardHicks

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Worst trip of my life! Bought 3 ocean cabins for family to celebrate wife's

birthday.  Carnival decided to start the demolition process the first day of cruise,

shut down waterslide, pool, sports deck. Jammed anybody with kids into a small

deck area, where tempers were flying daily. Noise and dust covered entire

deck, where open food was being prepared.  Staff openly lied to clients regarding

their knowledge of upcoming repairs . Carnival tried to cover up jackhammer and

burning/torching nonsense by increasing the decibels of the music they pipe over

the deck which ended up being of migraine levels. Staff members let everyday

maintenance go until dry dock , rooms had left open food stuffs, sexual items,

socks left from prior cruises. Sink in stateroom was broken when we

got on board, and was still broken the last day of cruise, as well as other maintenance items around the ship.  Broken water lines with ceilings leaking   in main corridors with buckets to catch water.

Classic example of a corporation once they've got your money and your

stuck on their ship to absolutely stick it to you.  I feel as though I was robbed.

Not only did you people disappoint my grandchildren, you've lost me and my

family as future cruisers with carnival.  If this had been my first experience with

cruising I would never go again. Corporate greed trumps customer satisfaction

apparently with  Carnival.

Getting on board the ship was very easy and well organized by the Carnival staff. Once we were on the ship, we were treated like royalty. We are already looking forward to the next cruise...

Glory glory by terrykusner

The ship was clean and comfortable.  Staff were professional and friendly.  Food was better than most .

The only complaint was the shows at night.  They were overproduced and the sound system was awful.  the volume was so high that it distorted the sound and made the show uncomfortable to sit through.  Even tho the performers were talented and hard working, the shows were disappointing.

Norwegian is way better by mdwelch1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I will say that the Carnival cruise wasn't terrible but wasn't great either. We ate at the Emerald steakhouse a so called 5 star steakhouse but I could have got a better steak at the Outback all 3 of our steaks were so rare when we all ordered them medium the Calamari was excellent but the blue cheese salad dressing was the worst I ever had. As far as the ship it was fine but really lacks quality entertainment with the exception of the comedy club. I also hate that they advertise the Italian specialty restaurant on their website but it's no longer on board. I will not stray from Norwegian Cruise Line again.

Carnival Glory Cruise by scottr84258037

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I enjoyed my first ever cruise.  It was everything I expected with enjoyable staff and entertainment for the most part.  I would say that the waiters, cleaners and customer service were the happiest to serve us.  The least enjoyable or happy people were the bartenders.  Some were pleased to serve but others seemed a little inconvenienced.  Even  though the drink package I had included tips, I gave a small tip with each drink and that didn't seem to make a difference.  Next time I'll leave the tips off because the service for me versus a person who didn't tip was no different.  The excursions I would not do next time.  They were over priced for the time spent doing them although the guides and drivers were awesome.  All in all the trip was great!

Perfect sized Ship by bbbud

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The Glory is large enough to have all the perks you want on a cruise ship, yet small enough that you don't feel like calling a taxi to get from one end to the other.  I've been on this ship 4 times and have never been disappointed.  This cruise I especially liked the lobby band and the comedians (always a favorite).  They also had a couple shows in the theater that were outstanding.

Great Ports, Great Entertainment by rblandes83

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We selected Carnival because of the Ports:  Amber Cove, St Thomas, San Juan, and Grand Turks. The price was right for the amount of ports. We were pleasantly surprised with the on-ship entertainment. The evening shows were very well done.

great time relaxing by kgwisdala

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

All the staff were pleasant and smiling.  I really felt they all ENJOYED their job.  The food was great in both the dining room and the buffet.  I wish there were more things to do in the earlier hours of the morning -- some of us rise with the sun and I wasn't fond of waiting another two hours or more before the dining room was open.  I could order room service any time, so that was not a problem.  I know there were a few other early risers -- I would see them walking on the decks, too.  However, that certainly did not detract from the great time we had

All of the ports of call were fabulous. My favorite was Grand Turk with the beach right there near the ship and the shopping. I would definitely do this one again!!

Glory Carnival by andreammagro

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

No would not recommend trip.  The only entertainment was comedy club. & we had no comics   at all one night.  I have never cruised where there was  no musical revue show offered every evening.  It was done CHEAPLY.

Food  was AVERAGE.

Our time on Glory by JohnandJoniB

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Getting on the ship could be easier.  We thought since they had you pick a time to board it would be better.  Was not, everyone just boarded when they got there.  Stood in line for almost an hour.  The ship was nice.  I would not want to be near the elevator on the Lido deck again.  Too much noise.  Food was good.  Service was very good.  We did get off the ship great as we took our luggage off ourselves.  Would do it always!

Carnival glory 7 night Caribbean by sfoy818

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Belize, roatan, cozumel, we missed grand cayman due to weather.  We were ok with the fact that the staff chose safety over the port. The staff were great, shows were fun, kids camps were awesome.  We had a great time.

Carnival Eastern by travelteam2

The food was good...hot and tasty.  The entertainment in the lobby was not up to the quality I have heard on similar cruises. The staff was polite and seemed well trained.

very nice by themaskedmakita

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

but where was the steel drums? the Caribbean  atmosphere? The water slide needs more water! The burgers and fries were excellent as was almost all of the food. The male comedians were good but repetitive, it might be time to retire the lady that performed..other than that great weather and fun times made it a good holiday

Good Cruise by ILikeit

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our 5th time cruising with Carnival and our first time leaving from Miami.  The Miami Port is much too congested with passenger embarkations and debarkations happening at the same time, in the same place.  Additionally, if you park in the deck, expect to pay $20 per day. Yes, $140.00 for a 7-day cruise.  While this is not a Carnival charge, they and the other cruise lines should help to defray some of this cost for their customers.

Embarkation wasn't bad, but I don't understand why Carnival wants guest to choose a check in time when anyone is allowed to check in whenever they choose.  Staggered check-in is a great idea, but it wasn't enforced. We stayed in Cabin 1104 on the Spa deck.  I enjoy that deck because it has far less cabins than the other decks.

Our Cabin Stewardess was awesome and quite attentive.  The Cabin was clean; however, the glass in the door leading to the balcony had two large cracks and the mattress was obviously lumpy, so much so, that you could see the indentions where previous guests had slept.  There were also a few stains in the carpet.  I notified the Cabin Stewardess and she said that the problems would be corrected when the ship enters dry dock.  That was of little assistance to me since I was in the Cabin then.  She did try to add some extra padding to the mattress, but that really didn't help. Carnival should not have booked this Cabin or at least they should have notified us of these issues and discounted the fare.

I found the ship to be clean and the public restrooms were well maintained.

The food was very good and the variety was excellent.  The Lido deck, which holds the buffet and several other restaurants, was never really unbearably overcrowded and we were almost always able to get a window table.

I do wish Carnival would enforce the rule to make the guest dry themselves off and cover themselves before coming into the dining areas.  Several times, guests were standing in the food lines dripping wet after getting out of the pool. There are posted signs, but some folk just overlook the rules.

I found the crew to be exceptionally friendly and helpful, and I did not encounter one crew member that did not speak and ask if we were enjoying our cruise experience. I am already looking to book our cruise for next year, but I will do everything possible to choose a port other than Miami.

By the way, I hear that the Glory will be dry docked sometimes in February, so it will be like new when the refurbishments are completed.
