It was ok. There were a lot of people, lots of lines, and it wasn’t the cleanest ship.

What a great time! by zafirapaint

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom

While there were some not great moments, overall our cruise was great! We both enjoyed ourselves immensely and had lots of fun. There were tons of options with things to do and see that just about anyone could enjoy. The staff were great, the music acts were top notch! I'm so glad we went!

Perfect Midsize Ship Experience by CleverCruises

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Freedom

Very long and crowded embarkation that was not particularly pleasant but excellent service once we boarded. The crew made me feel special at every venue I frequented and my cabin steward was extremely attentive as well and even brought a towel animal and filled my ice bucket every night. The pool and slides were excellent options on such a small midsize ship too and the amenities were plentiful for a ship of this size as well. Although the decor is a little outdated, it did not bother me at all and the ship was well maintained inside but could use some exterior updates like some of her sister ships. The food was excellent overall as well in the MDR as well as the buffet. Unfortunately, they changed the Guys Burgers a little and they are not as good as they used to be in my opinion, which is unfortunate, but Blue Iguana remains decent and the Deli was good enough to make up for the shortcomings of Guys Burgers a little. The upcharge bonsai sushi was also tasty but not worth the upcharge in my humble opinion. The steakhouse was OK but the sides were not as good as I remember although the bread wa much better and while the chocolate sphere was good, the cheescake was very disappointing. Id just order the upcharge steak in the mdr if I was in the mood again. I also tried it twice but would not bother with it if I had any future cruises on this ship, especially with all the good or decent food elsewhere. My stateroom was very comfortable and spacious, especially in comparison to royal caribbean, but some of the rooms need more USB port updates and charging uodates, etc. Activities were plentiful for a smaller midsize ship at half capacity and I was very impressed with them trying to keep us busy and not miss a beat even at half capacity. The club even operated despite covid restrictions and every single bartender was friendly and got to know your preferences as well, especially at the Alchemy Bar. The upcharge coffee shop was also worthwhile and very efficient too. Pictures by Pixels were not as good as usual though so I did not purchase any. The comedians were above average and very entertaining with the exception of one comedian that always showed up completely wasted. Punchliner was basically the main attraction or show every night even though I enjoyed the singing and dancing shows I attended every time. The piano bar is outstanding as well and Stevie D will have you singing along all night long and lose yourself in his talent. The third floor lobby and deck view was a great way to unwind in the afternoon if not listening to the beautiful Caribbean music in the red frog or on the lido deck. In other words, the entertainment met or exceeded my expectations on every level despite one comedian. The casino was well laid out and everything was what I would expect or better, especially for an older ship.

Carnival Freedom January 18, 2015 out of Fort Lauderdale by lynnleigh6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I'm late with this review but just joined the site.  :)  The Carnival Freedom was an amazing ship and our cruise was absolutely fabulous.  My husband and I were in an aft balcony cabin and loved it!!!  The aft balconies are substantially larger than other balconies and ours featured 2 lounge chairs, 2 regular chairs, and a small table...and we still had room to move around.  Having an aft room does make for a LONG walk down the hallway but trust me, it's worth it!

Our ports included Grand Turk (beautiful beach!), St. Maarten (Airplane Beach - Maho Beach is amazing!) and Puerto Rico (beautiful!!!).  We were not disappointed!

We also purchased the Tour the Ship/Meet the Captain excursion and found it to be very interesting.  Our captain wasn't the friendliest but it might have just been that he was busy and didn't need to be interrupted to meet a group of question asking passengers.

The steakhouse on the Freedom was delicious and well worth the extra money.  I highly recommend it!  The Alchemy Bar should not be missed either!

Oh, and just to leave my favorite tip that has served me SO well on cruises.  Buy one of those over the door cloth shoe holders and place it over your bathroom door on the ship.  It holds tons of items and really helps you to stay organized.  I never cruise without mine!

Our 1st cruise. The Carnival Freedom was great, the Cruise Director Emma was amazing and hilariously! by EdBoling

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom

Cruise was such fun. Even though it was hot most places and got some rain here and there, we never let it bother us. The crew of the Freedom was amazing. Special shout outs to David and Percy at Blue Iguana tequila bar, Diana at the Atrium bar, our outstanding cabin Steward Ketut, and especially the Cruise Director Emma.

Great cruise as long As you do excursions in Freeport and Nassau . Half moon Cay looked like something you would see on a post card. The water was amazingly blue and if I didn’t see it with my own eyes I wouldn’t believe it . I highly recommend ! by yammerjammer

The ship was like a 5-star hotel on the ocean - immaculately kept, superb service, warm and welcoming staff, delicious food, great cocktails.  And lots of fun shopping.  I had a wonderful time and can't wait to go on my next cruise.  This was my first cruise, and it was nothing short of fabulous.
