Overall a Great cruise, ports-of-call interesting, cabin accomidations wonderful, Cabin Staff Fantastic as well as the Main Dining Room staff where the food and service there was excellent. Buffet menu and quality needs attention (sometimes cold and lacking flavor), and the entertainment (shows etc.) were not very exciting. Overall our group of 6 Family members (3 Balcony cabins) were overall pleased.

Bad cruise by Lasttrip

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean

Carnival is getting worse each time we use them. Cold food, change in excursions with out telling us. Kile a zoo in lido areas, loud people, like hyena screaming. We go to eat and relax, they need to have a noise law.

My husband and I truly enjoy the cruise, wonderful shows, great itinerary. Overall cant complain.!!!! The only issue really was the trip to Jamaica mostly due to the culture, nevertheless the Dunn's River Falls are a must see.

smoking by cruiserfla

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

if u are a non smoker this cruise is not for you. basically every where i went on the outside decks there was smoke the casino even though the smoking was allowed inside there were no doors or barriers to keep the smoke from drifting outward. also if u plan on taking advantage of the night life activites this cruise is not for you. the one and only night club allows smoking also and it makes for a terrible evening. i have nothing against smokers but as a non smoker i shouldnt have to be inhaling smoke. the only time i really enjoyed myself is on the excursions. they were amazing

Freedom cruise by MonaO

Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Staff is excellent, they go above and beyond, they acknowledge birthdays and anniversaries, daily change of menu and a very wide variety, love the "welcome back" parties, cruise directors are awesome. We travel with Carnival all the time now, we've tried other cruise lines but Carnival has them beat.

Carnival, great family cruise! by Cruise4Life13

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Although our family has taken several cruises throughout the years, this cruise on the Carnival Freedom was extra special from beginning to end. From the moment we arrived at the pier, we were treated to great customer service from the check-in counter to getting on aboard. When we reached our cabin, we were immedicately greeted by our Cabin Steward. The room was clean and great looking. During the booking process we elected to go with your Time Dining and that ended being a great choice. Our dining experience was exceptional. We were so enamored with our wait staff (John, Alexander and Nilo) that for the first time ever we would go down to the Chic Dining Room before it opened at 5:45 EST to make sure we would get the same staff every night. On the third night of the cruise, we had arranged to renew our wedding vows for our 15th wedding anniversary. This turned out to be an excellent experience. Judit, our Wedding Consultant took care of all the details and the ceremony was beautiful from beginning to end. In addition, our son who is 8 years old enjoyed Camp Carnival so much he didn't want to get off the ship and take part in shore excursions. All the Carnival Camp Counselors were incredible but my son nicknamed one of them Princess Dana. The camp activities were fun, creative and very age appropriate. I would highly recommend Carnival to anyone regardless of age, single, married or with or without family. There is truly something for everyone to do and enjoy!!!!!

Verry unhappy by CaseyDSmith

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

There were hidden cost, the pools where to small to swim in. The showers broke so we had to spend a day on an inland without a shower. I spent half of a day dealing with the cruseonly.com about the terrible job they did. To be honest we will never use cruseonly.com again very bad business. We may never use carnival again. Casey

Vacation for 3 Family's with Children by Andyrexy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean

To start with this was a great cruise with a great staff!! We Boarded the ship with no problems. We left late from Ft Lauderdale because the computer system went down. The days at sea and the ports were great. In Aruba the Jeep Tour is amazing and on Grand Turk Going to Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville was amazing. We rented a Cabana and loved it. The only problem we had was the kids program was not a good fit for our 11 and 14 year old kid. We really enjoyed the ports, the ship and the people we went with but we still prefer Royal Caribbean cruise line but they didnt have the ports that Carnival had.

Pool was to little and of all places you couldn't smoke at the adult pool. You could at the kids pool, but not at the adult pool. by Johnsonfamily90

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The best part of our cruise was our bartender EDWIN at the pool bar. Also didn't like the fact that after 10 you could only get pizza or room service.

Freedom ship by marymary66

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

First off my granddaughter left her Ipod in our room and it was gone when we returned to our room. We went to security and they took a report and then thoroughly searched our room. Did'nt find it . Next day we got a letter slipped under out door saying basically Too Bad for you. Contact a web site with any further questions. So I know we have a safe in our room and now know why. Things are just not safe in your room. I know they have a system on the door locks that let them know who entered our room but did not tell us that. It really put a damper on the trip. Left a bad feeling in my stomack and will really think about taking another trip on carnival. Also the food except at the nightly dinner was horrible. I heard lots of people complaining and also about how rude people were at the buffets.

As a Platinum Member by charpo1029

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

As a whole, I was very pleased with my experience. As a Platinum Member, I have cruised many times...there are certain bonuses that a Platinum Member receives...no standing on lines, free laundry services...but when it came to "your time dining"...I was disappointed they didn't consider my "Platinum Status"...the waiters were very good...but the staff at the desk at the restaurant was very disorganized...our room stewards went well beyond the call of duty...

Outstanding by T32ch3r

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Although we were all in one cabin (4) of us, it was very comfortable. Room service was fantastic, Marty the piano man was unbelievable, food was beyond my expectations. We never made it to Jamaica but this was the right decision to keep us safe and we had an amazing time in Mexico instead. The staff went above and beyond to make sure everyone was happy and well taken care of. The only negative was the smoking allowed on the balcony next to us. Maybe they should have smoking balcony's on just one side of the ship so those of us who do not smoke and want to enjoy the balcony we pay extra for can breathe. Very satisfied other then that!

Food and Service by leximom

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The food and service was horrible. The staff aboard this vessel we felt did not really care about the guests aboard it. The shows in the dining room were ridiculous and no effort put into them at all. The dessert at dinner time were also horrendous and I did not have one any night aboard the ship. My husband had purchased the soda package and the one night that we did order room service, when he asked for a soda the response was: You are going to have to pay for that.

Just a cruise, nothing unexpected by gatorboy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I enjoyed the cruise. Despite the smaller islands being on the cruise itinerary, we had a really great time. Antigua was the the only stop where we were a little disappointed. Once you left the duty- free area, you felt a little uneasy on being without a group.

Disappointed by out of control teens & unhappy staff by Jilliebeans

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

My boyfriend and I went on this cruise hoping to have a calm and relaxing experience. Both in our thirties and no kids, we knew that Carnival was the "Fun Ship" so we did expect families and sunbathers but we didn't expect the other vacationers to be so disrespectful and rude. The last cruise we were on, you would never know there were kids on board but this one, there wasn't a place you could go to get away from them! Even the adults only areas! Parents allowed their kids to drink and run around the ship at all hours, knocking on stateroom doors and running away, yelling, screaming. I'm not uptight by any stretch of the imagination but their attitudes and disrespect really made me upset. Some of the staff would attempt to keep them out of certain areas or tell them to dress properly in dining areas but they would completely blow off their direction. The staff, though most attempted to be polite and smile, were overworked and seemed generally unhappy. I learned that the crew is subject to the labor laws where the ship is registered, not US laws, meaning that some typically work 70 hour weeks (no wonder they had to work to smile!). When I took a survey for Carnival, they asked a lot of what the staff was held to (remembering first names of guests, addressing guests, etc) and it's no wonder to me that they would be stressed or spread thin. The ports of call were okay -- unless you planned excursions, what's walkable are the shops next to the port which are similar to ones you'd find at each stop. St. Thomas was by far our favorite and we were disappointed that there was a US travel advisory against getting off at Nassau (Bahamas). Sea days were our favorite by far for relaxing. We didn't go to the pool areas much because they were so very crowded and opted to use the hot tub at night when it was less busy our our balcony for sunning. The food in the main dining room was mostly pretty good and the buffets were usually decent. We did wish they had longer hours of operation for lunch and more variety for lunch or snacks after dinner time. The ship was very clean even though the decor was dated (looked a bit like it was from the eighties). I heard from one of the staff that the Freedom was going into dry dock in the next year for maintenance so maybe they'll do some other updates to the interior. Overall, it was a vacation so we can't really complain but the teens really made what probably could have been a great time just okay. We learned our lesson and will not be taking another Carnival Cruise -- even if or when we have kids because we would not want our kids interacting with the kind of kids running rampant on Carnival.

Carnival Freedom means TOTAL freedom for rowdy teenagers! by Johnnva

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Lets start with the good parts. Embarkation went smoothly. Our room was ready at 1 PM. Aft facing balcony room 7446 which was really the main saving grace of this entire cruise. Room was quiet (when the gangs weren't using the 7th floor for their games) and our room steward Kitty was great. The food for the most part was good. We ate in the buffet since we don't like taking 2 hours for a meal. Debarkation was a dream and good thing because we were MORE than ready to debark! We carried our bags off and it took the time to leave our room and walk off. We were in our car on on the road at 6:30 AM!!!! Now for the bad parts. The kids on this cruise, and there were hundreds of them, were TOTALLY out of control. Everywhere you went were groups of loud and obnoxious kids screaming foul language. Groups of boys playing baseball in the dining room with the fruit and carrying cups spitting water on each other and other guests. The crew could not have cared less as if it was just business as usual! We have never witnessed such a total lack of control or just a lack of caring by the crew or the parents.... where ever they were. Gangs of kids running from floor to floor playing hide and seek or some such game at all hours of the day and night for the entire 8 days. We even witnessed some obviously under 21 kids in the over 21 pool area drinking beer and wine their "mother" supplied them. I could go on and on but suffice it to say we will NEVER take another Carnival cruise. EVER!!!!

2nd time on freedom by goldcardcruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

need another craps table, alarm clocks, and additional staff for room service. The wait staff on the pool deck do not have to be so aggressive w/ trying to get the guests to buy drinks. More clocks around ship that are not in military time. More TV stations and have them in English.
