Amazing vacation! by ktaylor8912

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We absolutely LOVED the cruise! The Carnival Dream was perfect, and we really enjoyed the staff on board. We visited the comedy shows several times, and even sang a little in the Song room (Karaoke). Dinner time was delicious, and the wait staff made us feel right at home. All in all... the boat was amazing!

Roatan- Positives- the most beautiful views I think I have ever seen. We took a rental car with a tour guide, and got to see a few secret places off the beaten path. We learned a lot about the "real" Roatan, as opposed to the "tourist" Roatan most visitors get to see.

Negatives- When we finally made it to the beach, we were constantly harassed by locals wanting us to buy a massage, get our hair braided, buy some handmade trinkets, and even got asked if we wanted to buy cigars to smoke on the beach. At first I was really annoyed. I mean... being asked if you want a massage 35 times in an hour was a little excessive, but when my tour guide informed me the income the locals make off of these massages, and trinkets, was the only income they make, it helped me understand their persistence. Also, we noticed a lot of local military armed with rifles posted at convenience stores and other stores along our private tour. If you have small children, might want to stay close to the port, and maybe choose to visit the beach right off the main dock.

Belize- Positives- One of the best vacation spots I have ever been to! I absolutely loved the whole city! We chose to go cave tubing with a company called Ecotours. Our tour guide was named Raymond, and he was AMAZING! He was very friendly, and told us all about Belize City...right down to some of the medicinal benefits many of the local plants offer. There was a thirty minute hike in the jungle to reach our push off point for the cave tubing, but with our tour guide showing us the local plants and natural rock formations along the way, it felt more like ten minutes! The river we floated down was crystal clear, and the river bed was all smooth rocks. I would definitely do the cave tubing again!

Negatives- We didn't have enough time to really see all of Belize City. There is so much to do, and so many wonderful things to see, we just couldn't do enough in the 8 hours we were in port.

Cozumel- Positives- What can I say other than it was AMAZING! The beaches in Cozumel are second to none! We had fresh margaritas and authentic fajitas on the jeep tour we took. Our tour guide took us to some of the smaller Mayan Ruins, and to visit the old Lighthouse. I highly recommend the jeep tour for 1st time visitors.

Negatives- Like Belize.. there just wasn't enough time. I could have stayed on the beach for another 6 hours!

This trip was amazing from start to finish. I highly recommend cruising with Carnival. We are already discussing our next trip!

Carnival Dream Cuise by gmparmer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I enjoyed the Black Jack Band the most.  The days at sea were pleasant and we enjoyed games on the Lido deck that we played.  The nightly shows were good, but I thought the sound was too loud.  Food was delicious. Fighting outside our room and by the elevators the last night by passengers was a bit frightening.

Overall the cruise was a welcome retreat and the places we toured were great.

My Cruise by lenfowler3

Enjoyed the vents on board, particularly the comic's.  Would have liked a little more time in the ports of call, two days each would have been nice, but for our first cruise it was great.

Very Nice Vacation with Exceptional Staff by dab77714730148

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a nice room midship that was one of the quietest we have had.  The people who cleaned our room were exceptional, very friendly and always had it looking great.  All of the help was much friendlier than the Norwegian cruises we had been on.  Very easy ship to get around in and also pretty décor. The food was better than the last Carnival cruise we took and they had changed the dinner menu.  It was nice to have a few different items to choose from.  We did miss having the newer dining options on this cruise, like Guy's Burgers and the Italian restaurant.  We attended the previous cruiser get together for platinum and diamond guests and it was nice, but it seems they have cut back on the appetizers and the entertainment was just so so. The shows at night were very good and the first two comedians were also great, not so much the last two.  There were some nice places to go and relax in the evening and listen to music.  This was the biggest ship we had been on and it did seem a little crowded at times.  We had anytime dining in the evening and there was a wait some nights especially if you eat later than 6:30.  We enjoyed the brunch on sea days but, the bbq outside on sea days was just ok.  The only big disappointment we had was that the pool at the back of the ship was closed the last day of the cruise.  There ended up being only the big pool in the middle that day and since it was a sea day it was very crowded.  They were very organized getting us on and off the ship in New Orleans which was fantastic.

Dream Girls Vacation by marylivingston

The entertainment staff was great. Very personable and energetic. Lizette one of the dancers was a joy to meet. We loved Eric who did most of the trivia and games. He was so sweet and so much fun. Emily is a wonderful cruise director.

The service in the dining room was wonderful for dinner. Kind of slow at breakfast but the food was always good. What I loved most about the cruise was the variety of music, shows, and activities

Great Cruise by pesseapn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Dream is a fabulous ship.  The crew is so helpful and friendly.  Our cabin steward, Eva, did an outstanding job and took care of our every need.  The only suggestion I would make is it would be helpful to have more than 2 kiosks available to manage your ship account.  Lines tended to get a little long.

overcharged by boxfan13579

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My mother was overcharged $2000.00 on our cruise.  I heard from ten others with same problem.  I stopped using my sail and sign card and just used cash.  Customer service and casino staff did nothing about it saying computer shows her taking out the money but i was with her and know she only played with 1000.00 and was charged 2900.00.  They also charged me 90 a person in my cabin of 3 and my aunt 90 who stayed in cabin with my mom but charged my mom 190.00 for gratuity.  So if you want to take this cruise i would keep a close eye on your account.  I wont be returning.

Carnival cruise Sept 11th 2016 by kaytip30

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My favorite part of the cruise was the stop in Grand Cayman and Cozumel. The dinners in the Crimson dining room were superb. The breakfast and brunch in the burgundy dining rooms was also great. The Lido buffet however not so much. The same foods get old and most of it is bland. The adult drinks weren't great so we didn't waste the money on those. You can buy the soda package but even those seemed flat and odd tasting. Stick to the water with lemon! The tea, that's a whole other story. Not. Good. At. All. The shows and comedy club are great as well as the entertainment staff. They go above and beyond to make sure your stay is great. I'm not sure that I will ever take another cruise as apposed to an all inclusive, again.

Fun Fun Fun by peterrfarr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My favorite parts of the cruise were the sea days, the other guests & their stories, the ports of call, the food, the movies, the demonstration by the Chef of the Steakhouse, my cozy cabin & the Carnival staff.

Least favorite was the excursion in Cozumel because the guide of the art exhibit spoke mainly Spanish to a group & the rest of the guests would have loved to learn more about the artist & their offerings.  The flyers were the best part of the tour.

Pleasantly surprised. by aheadofyou

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Prior to this cruise we had primarily been on 3 or 4 night cruises; with the last cruise being about15 years ago. We were pleasantly surprised with the size of our stateroom is was larger than the last time we cruised, in fact we had a king size bed, which my wife thought was a little stiff. We had a balcony stateroom which was nice, we spent quite a bit of time sitting out on the balcony with our wine/beer and enjoying the ocean. The food was okay but not seasoned very well so tasted somewhat bland. We had dinner one night at the Steakhouse, it cost and extra $35 per person but was well worth it, meal was excellent. Good comics in the comedy club and the shows were enjoyable. Stopped in Montego Bay, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel; if I cruise this way again would consider coming when it is less humid; being from California we were use to the heat but not the humidity. Excursions were fun, a good way to get an overview of the different islands. I would recommend this cruise as a good way to see the Western Caribbean.

dining room experience left a lot to be desired, very slow service and then we were rushed with appetizers, salad and soup all at one time. didn't have time to enjoy a cocktail before dinner, then dessert and out the door.

our room Stewart was great.

Way to go Carnival! by afoates

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Food and entertainment.  The musical shows were very professionally done.  Cruise director Chris Williams was a great host and a very talented singer.  My biggest complaint was there was not enough swimming pools, two small pools for 3500 people.  We stayed on the ship in  Cozumel and could finally get into the pool. A couple of the food lines were very busy, Mongolian Grill and the hamburger line had people waiting, some 30 minutes or more.  We just ate somewhere else.  It was all good.

Western Caribbean with Friends by sandieron

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

we loved the trip down the Mississippi from New Orleans very much. Up on deck 10 watching the sail down to Gulf. Very relaxing trip, great meals. Both buffet and MDR! Fabulous. Feel like I ate my way clean thru the whole cruise 😃. The friends we were with were very experienced cruisers and did not care for the amount of entertainment. Disappointed in it. There wasn't much in the line of entertainment until last two nites. Something needs to change perhaps in that because we had 3 sea days. Just a suggestion. Loved it, embarkation and debarkation was very smooth. Great time!

Carnival Dream Cruise by Cruiser85437453

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Just as I expected, a great trip! There was some changes like the cabin services, and extra charges for items ordered from room service, but it was fine with me. Overall, the trip was not much different from all the other trips I have been on. So no complaints from me.

Great food, Great Service, A little raunchy! by pcaleb

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

As usual, my favorite part of the cruise was the FOOD! Cruising with Carnival, I've had the pleasure of trying a plethora of new dishes that I wouldn't otherwise order. My most exciting food choice this cruise: Braised Ox Tongue!

The service was also impeccable. You have the opportunity to really get close with your waiters and cabin stewards. Ours were great!

My biggest critique of the cruise would be the entertainment and the cruise director. Both were very raunchy and the cruise director was pretty rude to many. I applaud Carnival for their many PG-rated events; however, the PG rated events were far from PG rated. This was very disheartening to my wife and me.

Never Book a Cruise in Hurricane Season by UtahCruiser2015

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our third cruise on Carnival and it was as expected except for the change of the itinerary due to a hurricane.  Carnival is a good cruise line but are more or less a Plain Jane cruise line. Carnival has gone to a timed check in and this was much faster and if you set up on board account online it went even faster.

On this cruise we had a balcony stateroom and it was small compared to the suites we usually get.  Lots of not being able to get into closet because the bathroom door was open and so on.  Bed was very comfortable. Storage room was good with suitcase storage under the bed.  Carnival has cut back to once a day room cleaning and no longer does a bed turndown. Room had a safe and frig but it was not very cold.

When we cruise, we dine in the dinning rooms.  On the Dream the dinning rooms are very nice but the food is not very upscale.  Most often we choose the flat iron steak and baked potato since it was a safe bet.  On cruise days they have a brunch in the dinning rooms and this was the best meal we had.  Try the steak and eggs.  There were times when we wanted a quick snack and this could be hard to find.  Pizza was 24 hours but it was hard to catch the buffet open to get potato salad to go with your deli sandwich.  Coffee shop didn't open until 11am so early morning fancy coffee was out.  Overall the food was good but could have been better. Once they had  a grill cookout where the meat was so spicy hot that we could not eat it even though we like some heat in our food.

We did purchase the Cheer's Beverage Package and enjoyed the drinks and bartenders.

We will cruise again with Carnival because we are moving to a town near a port making it really easy to go on a cruise.
