Disappointed! by lauries03

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I should start by stating the food on Carnival was improved from a few years ago. The ship was renovated and looked nice and relatively clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our days in port and the excursions we went on. Everything else was downhill...there were so many people on the boat it was difficult to find seating for meals and find lounge chairs around the pool. It was impossible to find seating in the Serenity area of the ship. The entertainment was scarce and shows seemed short. The level of service has seriously gone down over the years. There was less attention to detail than in previous cruises. All and all, we were disappointed in our Carnival experience.

Late for everything by Cruiser58835239

I would never recommend Carnival Cruise to anyone. As a matter of fact I talk a customer out of traveling Carnival today. They are checking on other lines. My day in Belize was ruined because we were stuck on the ship an hour an half longer than promised.I missed an important meeting at the Embassy.  NEVER AGAIN

fun cruise by newcruizermich

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

i would recommend a cruise on the Dream.  The cruise director was fabulous.  The food was great.  The only criticism is if you don't book your excursion through carnival they treat you like a second class citizen, and don't make sure you get off the boat if tendered.

Average At Best by Tomthetiger

The ports of call were great because of the experience visiting foreign countries.  You see things that you ordinarily wouldn't see unless you go there.

So much fun! by bondsvoyage

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Took my daughter and two grandsons (9 and 3) with me.  We had a cove balcony.  I liked the room but when traveling with my husband only, I prefer a balcony higher up.  The CD (Chris the Flying Scotsman) is just AMAZING!  He made the whole trip so much fun.  Food is okay, I think cruise food in general is not as good as it was 10 or so years ago, but I don't cruise for food.  I cruise for FUN and this trip was FUN, FUN, FUN!  Other entertainment was enjoyable also.  My young grandson is special needs and the photographers took extra time to get good pics of us and we so appreciate that.  Roatan is a great port if you just want to go to the beach - easy for kids.  We did the Altun Ha mayan ruins tour in Belize and I really enjoyed my older grandson getting some history lessons in while having fun at the same time.  We went to Mr. Sanchos, all inclusive, in Cozumel and I wish I was still there.  The Dream is a great ship, can't go wrong!

Vacation in hell by BenCramer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The hot tub's and the pools we're closed most of the time, the food was the worst I've ever had on a cruise and the  slides were close to which was really upsetting that's one of the reasons I have taken that particular cruise. The things I liked about it was that they have a sushi bar and guys hamburger shop that was pretty good  another negative is they didn't have enough bartenders and workers and some of them had an attitude and  they were still working on the ship blocking halls laying tile down they took the boat out of drydock a week or two to soon I wish I had never been on that ship it left a very terrible taste in my mouth

Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

You sit to eat,you sit drink, you sit to sunbath, all your seating -bar stools,  deck chairs, dinning chairs all need improving.                                                                 Bradley Edge was a nice experience hope to see Bradley again sometime. Also

over- serving your guest may need to be addressed by management.

Lack of Ammenities by lcassidy7484

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Sadly, I was disappointed with this trip. When I got on the ship, none of the hot tubs were opened for use. The food was TERRIBLE, and there was no variety.  Also, the bars that were open were packed, while other bars stayed closed. At one time I wanted a bottle of water after my morning run, and I purchased the cheers package, so all beverages were covered. When I approached the bar for a bottle of water, the employee told me they were closed. So I asked where could I get a bottle of water, he just shrugged at me and walked away. The ship also seemed to be lacking the necessary crew to keep the dining areas cleaned. I had to bus tables myself in order to get one. Maybe my expectations were set too high, but I will not be traveling with Carnival ever again.

Cruise 2017 With family by Cruiser97907719

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Had a blast on the excursions- would do them again for sure.  In Belize we met our cruise director in one of the stores with his "boss" as he called him.   Cruise director was Jayce and Alex was his boss.  Totally rude to my sister and I.  I couldn't believe how rude they both were.  Only good thing from what I heard was jayce was going to California.  So otherwise the cruise was ok.    You can be as busy as you want or do totally nothing at all.  The only downfall was our last day at sea it was raining and freezing.   So I know that isnt Carnivals fault.  But overall it was a fun cruise.

review of cruise Jan 22 departing from New Orleans by ddemars4188715

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The comedians were very good.

We have been on several cruises and the things that we didn't like were with the anytime dining we were unable to make a reservation like we had on all the other cruises. We also found the lack of direction on the ship hard to follow. We had to hunt down the restrooms, when we disembarked there were no signs that directed us to the correct stairs

The workers on the ship were great. Everyone very friendly.

Good value for money by cleaheasterling

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The 3 ports were all good. I loved the sea day brunch. The serenity deck is wonderful for relaxation, sunning or just reading. The ship was clean and my bed was comfortable.  The ship was going into dry dock for refurbishing after our cruise.  I would like to see how they improve the ship.

january 22 rotan, belize, and cozumel on Carnival Dream by rkhiguera

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall it was fun, but, having cruised with Carnival several times before this one was a little flat.  the entertainment was so so with the feature being the comedy club.  one of the comedians went on a rant about the Trump administration which was uncomfortable.  the food and service in the main dining room was good, but not as spectacular as past cruises.  the buffet was boring and the food was repetitive and not really tasty.  the level of service in maintaining the cabin was a little less than before too.  Not bad, but not great.

Fun in the sun! by lankfot

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The food and shows were amazing! We loved the cave float trip in Belize. The people are so kind and happy on that island despite the poverty and recent hurricane destruction. Roatan was beautiful but you are limited on your experience with the locals. You spend the day in a free resort style beach area where locals are not allowed unless they work there. Cozumel is beautiful throughout the entire island and lots of beaches. The food and entertainment lines are long on the ship but worth the wait.

Dream 1/22/17-1/29/17 by margies60r

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We enjoyed our cruise, of course each cruise is what YOU make of it.  The ship was clean but in need of refreshing, but we knew when we booked that she was going in to drydock just after this cruise.  The main entrée portions in the dining room are larger than most of the other cruises we have been on.  In the buffet the plates were platters that many cruisers would pile full.  We elected to eat normal portions!  We enjoyed the comedy shows in the Burgundy Lounge, the country show in the Encore, and several movies on the Lido Dive In Theatre.  We met our room steward when we arrived and elected to have evening service only.  We have service before that would appear and make the bed each time we left the room, so we thoroughly enjoyed our steward cleaning our cabin while we had dinner.   We had an extended aft balcony on Empress #7460 and were pleased with our cabin and enjoyed the view of the wake just below us.

Great family vacation by amydresh

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Favorite part was all the ports.  Also really enjoyed a lot of the activities happening like trivia, dive in movies, and shows.  I HATED that a lot of the activities were near smoking areas and I had to breathe in smoke while trying to enjoy myself.  There are FAR FAR too many smoking areas on a cruise ship that is supposed to be family friendly.  I was trying to watch a dive in movie on the starboard side of the pool (not even on the same deck as the smoking "section") and I had to cover my nose with my shirt so that I didn't have to breathe in smoke the entire time.  It honestly ruined the experience for me.  I also did not like that my daughter was breathing it all in too.  My husband's dad and uncle both passed away from lung cancer and both were non smokers, we were told by the oncologist taking care of my father-in-law that it very well could be hereditary.  I do not like that my children had to breathe in so much smoke while on a vacation, especially being that Carnival considers themselves to be a very family friendly cruise line.  Non smokers should be put ahead of smokers that are polluting the air of all of those who do not want to breathe in all that crap!
