Review summary

My first Journey cruise (14 days). I was afraid I would get bored being on the ship for 14 days, but the time flew by. I met so many new friends and learned so much from these new friends who are Diamond cruisers that adds so much to a cruise. People get together to play cards, dominoes, etc.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We scheduled the time to get on the ship around 2 p.m. and there were no lines and basically just walked on the ship after showing our passport and boarding passes printed before I left home.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Great in every aspect.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Spa was great

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The stage shows were exceptional and some of the best singers. All the singers inneracted with the audience and welcomed meeting people after their performances.

Children's Programs

There were very few children on board and I didn't have any with me.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The waiters were great and very friendly. Our room steward was great. He even created a chalk picture on our mirror just inside the door saying Have a great cruise, palm trees and beach with our names.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
All areas were clean and well maintained. All Carnival ships I have been on are basically laid out the same so I feel at home.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Beds were exceptional in the suite. The Ocean Suite was smaller than anticipated because it was the same size (except a slightly larger balcony) than a Junior Suite I had been on previously. Also, I had difficulting connecting to the internet in the cabin and that is how you see the activities for the day. I would have to step into the hall to get on the internet. I went to customer service three days in a row but nothing changed. I had also paid extra to be able to stay in touch with family at home and wanted to do this in the privacy of my cabin but had to go into the hall or anywhere else on the ship other than my cabin in order to do this.

Ship tip

Do not overpack. It is much easier to disembark at the end of your cruise if you can carry your own luggage off the ship.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas Did not visit port

We drove to Galveston (4-hr drive) the morning of the cruise and left as soon as we got off the ship.

Key West, Florida

5 out of 5
I have been to Key West before so I got off the ship and walked around by myself.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
Took a tour and it was great.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Learned so much about this port (one of the points of the Bermuda Triangle).

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
Beautiful island and so many yachts right next to our ship. We took a tour to the highest point of the island.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

Beautiful port. We just walked around on our own.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Montego Bay, Jamaica

I have been to Jamaica several times. We took a tour of Rose Hall.

Disembarkation

This was the easiest I have ever experienced. We were off the ship and in our car home by 8 a.m.
