The Journey Continues

We had a good cruise on the 10 day Carnival Dream from San Juan to New Orleans.  We made stops in two new ports we had not visited previously.  They were St. Kitts and Dominica.  Enjoyed both ports and would be happy to visit them again.  The ship was wonderful and we really love that class.  It has so many deck areas for relaxing, as well as multiple hot tubs.  The outside promenade deck is great for walking.  An excellent ship design.  We did not think the food was up to past Carnival standards.  We also wish the captain would have provided a daily weather report.  There also seemed to be a reduction in the number of entertainment shows compared to past cruises. However, the shows presented were outstanding.  The crew was very welcoming and get high marks from us.  Musical groups were not up to past standards.  The exception was Lado, the violin duo who were great.

Our contact, K Larue, was great and we will use her again.  This is the first time we used and it was an excellent experience.

Cabin / Stateroom
Cabin was great. Well designed with plenty of storage space. Stewards were terrific.
Embarkation and Disembarkation
Disembarkation not well managed at all. Took too long compared to past cruises.
Ship Quality
Destinations and Excursions
Onboard Activities
Entertainment
Fewer shows than past cruises, but the ones presented were superb.
Service and Staff
Food and Dining
Not up to past Carnival standards.
San Juan, Puerto Rico
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
Dominica
This was our first visit. It is a very lush and verdant island. We were there for their first Carnival day and it was quite a special treat. We did the Best of Dominica, but would recommend an excursion that was only to Trafalger Falls and Emerald Pool. The other time was just OK. Did not have time to get into Emerald Pool as was advertised. We would like to go back.
Basseterre, St. Kitts
We did Top Ten Things and wish we had just visited the Brimstone Hill Fort as we did not have time to visit the exhibitions. This was a great place, just spent too much time driving other places. We would like to go back.
Grand Turk Island
We like Grand Turk, although there is not much to do. However, the beach area and pool in the shadow of the ship was very nice and it is a relaxing day. Like having this port on the itinerary.
Montego Bay, Jamaica
We don't care for Jamaica. Too many people hustling you all the time. Very persistent. Our third trip, but we did not get off the ship.
New Orleans, Louisiana
Great city!

Tip

Lots of hot tubs!
