The ship was kept in good shape. This is a larger ship and had a large variety of gathering areas (aka dining, cafes, casino, bars, lounges, etc.), but they were all smaller. All of the excursions we went on were wonderful. 2 formal nights on a 7 day cruise is 1 too many.

A wonderful cruise by EmersonR

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The staff was well trained and polite. The layout of the ship made it diffucult to find our way around as the venues were not well sign posted. The food was very good with good service.

Caribbean Princess was first-class by AnnA2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

The ship was fine. My major complaint is that I thought the cafeteria was undersize and it was almost impossible to find a place to sit any time I went there and so relied on room service for breakfast most of the time. There are several options for dining, and sometimes there might be a short wait if you want to dine on your own schedule, but this was no big deal. There is less emphasis on wine selection than on other lines, such as Celebrity (my favorite line). There is no sommelier, and the list contains only very familiar wines (which may be just fine for most people). I liked the layout of our ocean-view stateroom--it seemed to have more storage room. The theater was beautiful and the entertainment was very good (but standard cruise ship stuff). Movies are shown on the sun deck, rain or shine, night and day. Interesting feature, but I can imagine how hard it would be to find a seat in the warm weather.

Disappointed by DanM10

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

The ship needs some major updating. It truly does not handle the volume of passengers that it holds. Very poor layout.

Wait for the Leaves by DonD3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

A large ship; largest in the Princess fleet. You'll have plenty of walking to do, but lots of options for entertainment and food. A hypnotist was awful; comedian was funny, dancing & singing troupe was fun, trivia games were uneven. Some venues were always crowded, so you had to arrive a half hour early to get a seat for many shows. Casino was small, but games were always available. Shops were adequate, but I don't use them much. Food in the dining room wasn't that good, but the food in the aft cafeteria style was wonderful everyday ... much better than other ship lines. The hard rolls on the ship were fabulous!, and I don't usually eat that much bread. Service staff was very courteous and helpful; they also seemed unusually happy with their duties. Stateroom was more than sufficient. Lots of pools and hot tubs. TV carried international version of ESPN, which irritated the USA passengers (more scores and highlights for soccer, rugby, cricket ... less for NCAA/NFL/MLB/PGA).

Not so good by EllenS7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

We were very disappointed in the comfort of the beds, asked what could be done, turned the mattress and 2 large kitchen trays were under the mattress, holding it up, I guess. The steward was very nice and said he would check with his supervisor about getting another mattress but this was denied. In Boston, had trouble with their shuttle transportation and had to walk to ship fron another terminal even though, in Boston, we were told it would make two stops, one at our trip, we were refunded the $30.00 however, it was a long.....walk with my new knee. Meals were only fair. The shows were not good. We like to play cards with our friends, however, there was NO card room and we were constantly looking for a table and 4 chairs to play cards except on deck 15 after dinner, we found out too late that you could use the dining table after clean up.

An O.K. cruise by RuthB2

Sail date: / Traveled as:
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

It was a pain having to go to the 7th floor in order to get to 6 or 5. However, the overall ship was lovely. I enjoyed the large balcony. The beds were rather hard and the bathroom sometimes had a urine smell. The food and our waiters was very good. The overall impression was good and I would recommend this ship.

Caribbean Princess & Hurricane Irene by MichaelD

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

The Caribbean Princess New England left NYC in a hurry to avoid confrontation with Irene. I received a text embarkation begins @ 10:00AM. no parking at the port due to storm. info came very late, had to scramble, beg for a rental car, All mass transit halted at noon. The casino payout % is way below standard casino %. The bedding, caved in mattresses, pillows are all flat & crushed & linen always looks gray, not fresh. The food was Excellent, only ice tea was free. Entertainment was reasonable, Excellent Itinerary, fair price. If gambling & having fun in the casino is your thing, this is NOT the ship for you.

Great cruise, by MikeD13

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

We left in a hurricane, and the television coverage of the hurricane in NY showed the ship leaving and amazement that we were doing so. Some people apparently chose not to sail. No problems for us. Some rocking and rolling, but she's a big ship and took the waves pretty well.I had dramamine, which I only needed the first two days.People we encountered were faring well.
