great cruise by alroweston30

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

It was more than we expected the ship was nice people very friendly and staff took excellent care of us we would do it again. We really enjoyed the private Island and all it had to offer but the food should have stayed open longer the lines were long and a lot of people did not get something to eat .  We loved all the shows it had to offer and the night life was great always something to do never a dull moment.

Basically I feel as though I was taken advantage of due to my age. I am 22 years old and ran into countless problems. To begin a full credit authorization was required on the first night of the cruise. I was not informed of that and the money not being the issue at hand the issue is that I was not made aware of this and did not contact my bank to authorize that size transaction. I then had my account locked both on board and by my bank causing me to the confines of my suite. After explaining myself to the crew they proceeded to try and bill my account causing my bank to lock it permanently for security measures. I was also told i could use cash aboard the ahip amd later found i could not. When i first encountered this billing issue i went and got them 1800 in cash and tried clearing it up. Due to the constant billing to my bank and the locl that was now in place i could not square the rest pf this balance and could not authorize via phone to open the bank account back up. The only complaint I truly have is that the crew were not willing to work with me and when I say that I mean I could have split the balance into two authorizations and gotten it cleared up. When I suggested this I was told it needs to be put in as one. I just walked away at that point. If you want to take this cruise I suggest you ask a lot of questions and make sure the terms are clear. Other than this incident I must give a fair review and compliment on the entertainment and upkeep of the ship. Always clean and like the first moment aboard. Anyway if you are looking for a getaway and a relaxing trip I suggest this one right here. I guess as I get older I will learn lessons such as these and despite the issue above this trip gave me an opportunity to travel and an opportunity to learn some things I have waited almost 5 years to figure out. Happy holidays.

What a great cruise.  The ship was not brand new, but well kept.  The food was fabulous,  the service was the best, and I've been on over thirty cruises.

good cruise by egindinm

My first cruise. Nassau is a little hole and a very dangerous place.  We bought i day trip (lunch included) for $ 69 a person to an island resort that was advertised as a luxury resort. It turned out to be a dirty place with absolutely most terrible food. Do not buy trips in advance! You can find a trip frpm local vendors who offer much better beals.

Costa Maya and Cozumel by turkeypb

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was a very relaxing cruise out of Port Everglades, Fl going to Costa Maya and Cozumel Mexico for the week of Thanksgiving.

The ship was very clean and the crew were fantastic. Extremely comfortable mini suite and the steward was wonderful.

Food was so so but I don't have high expectations cruising in the Caribbean.

I would recommend this cruise due to the ship and crew.

Our mini vacation for two. by woodssf

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We have moved to Florida.  Therefore, going on a cruise from here did not require flying or driving a great distance.  This was our first 4 day cruise and it was perfect for a short get away and be pampered.  The wait staff and cabin staff took good care of us.  There was a great variety of good food.  I enjoyed the Zumba classes, sudoku  competition, casino games and the top quality of the entertainment.

The ship was a bit out dated and not a great lay out.The mattress was hard but they added a soft pad on it for me.The shows were too short, the entertainment was ok.The food was very good, not a great selection though. The service was excellent. The ship was clean.Princess is very low keyed, lay back which was very nice.I would definitely go on Princess again. But there are a few other cruise lines I also like.

Princess 5 day by dkuhar

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Exactly what we were looking for. Rest relaxation great food and great weather. Cabin was spacious lots of hangers for clothing and loved the balcony .   Chose the anytime dining but that was always disorganized and chaotic so next time we will book a seating time. The service around the main pool was awful. Not enough servers around taking orders or cleaning up empties. Quicker to go to the bar and even then not enough bartenders or not enough attention paid to the guests ! Very different from carnival where it was opposite in that servers were trying to get you drinks every 5 minutes !

Disappointed and injured on my first " Princess" Cruise by mgwdunes

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean

I.Safety -

a. Communications: We were unable to hear annoucements from the Captain in our room ( A731). We had to run to the door and open it to listen. Only the call to practice putting on life preservers and the call the Captain made to his staff saying "Search" was loud really loud.

b. Medical:  I experienced a fall while going through the entrance of the lower level of the ferry to Cozemel. I was bruised and have since experienced pain. The Ship's doctor said it would take time to heal.   A Medical assistant spoke with me when I returned to the office for something else for the soreness. He asked me who did I blame for my accident. I told him I had to think about it.  I have thought about it and I believe that  safety is the responsibility of Risk Management Teams of Princess and of UltraMar-Volando El Mar.  Safety practices of contractors and sub-contrators should go hand in hand to preserve the safety of the customers.

II. Financial or what?

a. My husband, Marcus and I are both Vietnam Era veterans.  Marcus received a Veterans perk of $250.00 on billing expenses. Rithm the front desk clerk said my husband was not qualified initially that my husband could not have it . My husband showed him that he had submitted his documents. He went on line and said, "oh yes it's there " .

b. We received a copy of  our billing at the end of the cruise.  We were billed double for for our gratuities. Anything my husband ordered was charged to his credit card and also to mine. Again, we went to Rithm and showed him the problem. He said there was no problem.  He then screamed and left the counter and came back to ask if we wanted to take off all gratuities. I said yes if it would make things right and honest. I am still uncomfortable  with what happened.

III. Cutting corners.

a.The perk booklets we received  had nothing that would appeal to those in an "ebola" state of mine. Spas!!  No laundry perks, especially for those who were on a 14-day ride. To clean and dry clothes was a minimum of ($9.00) and you had to dry clothes twice

 b. What are your financial goals? Drinks, simple wine ($7.00) and ($6.00) and $11.50 gratuity per glass. Are you trying to downsize the service staff or create poor customer relations with the price of house drinks?

 THE CRUISE

a. Baggage: brand new piece of Large Coelman, from Walmart, for $89.00. One (1) wheel gone, when we received it at our room. When we got home the handle was torn, there was a slash, and the word Coleman was falling off.

b. We took the cruise to go to Turks and Caicos and Saint Marteen. I'd never been there. We are a well cruised couple. My mother passed in February of 2013 and my father passed in April of 2013. Marcus lost his uncle In February of 2013 as well. It's been a lot  trying to get everything settled. We  needed to to getaway  and we still do. We don't feel fullfiled or rested. I am writing all of this for you when I feel you did not fullfil your commitment to us. I am worn out. You took our money and I feel you broke a promise. The storm never came in our direction . But the lit up Carnival Ship stared us in the eye lit up in all it's glory.  The small ship out side of it EBOLA or Immigrants?? Whatever it was we have paid dearly

The Staff

a. Ariel, our stateroom steward, was wonderful. Always there, never said no.  He is extremely astute and should be consulted. He and the rest of the staff on the blue side of the Aloha deck were very friendly and attentive. They made us feel welcome, always greeted us with a smile and a pleasant, "Hello", "Welcome Back", "Good Morning" etc.

Sincerely,

Marcus and Joyce Wood

Caribbean Princess Reduxe by rrforster37

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We decided to return to the Caribbean Princess after our enjoyable cruise a few months ago. This time we chose to take advantage of the good value offered and booked a back-to-back itinerary which offered a visit to the Eastern and Western venues. Mother Nature took a hand in our schedule and sent a Hurricane up through the Eastern Islands, so our Captain returned to the Western Gulf area to avoid the potential bad weather. The result was 7 more days of great cruising conditions, but a repeat of ports we visited the previous week. As always, Princess' Chefs provided consistently outstanding fare for us to pamper our palates. The shows were well done, but again, for the most part they were repeats of the first weeks voyage. One of the nicest part of cruising aboard a Princess ship is the superb service. It is remarkable, and consistent in all departments.  All in all, we again enjoyed our time aboard and will return to Princess for future cruises. It is definitely among our top 3 favorite Lines.

terrible service by teresaghoffman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Princess is known for its customer service and it's world class food. On both counts we were highly disappointed. I pre-booked my excursions except for Grand Cayman which I booked on ship with Purser Elena. I requested to see vessel we would be on for our island cruise and snorkel trip. Elena showed me a image of a white catamaran. My fear was we would be on a dive boat for hours...I booked and went to lunch. When we docked we were taken to a public dock...down steps to the sand and stones into the wate to board a Dive Boat...not the Catamaran I was shown a picture of.we actually walked in the water to board this boat! The island cruise was a lie. We were taken to two snorkel sites within site of said public pier. At each site we were there 50 mins. It took us approx 5 min to boat from pier to site 1 then 2 mins to site 2. This excursion was not the description as stated in the Princess Catalog. When I brought this up to Elenas superior I was sent a dish of Princess Chocolates. Very sad. The food we expected to be off the charts! Unfortunately, we were disappointed. Very tasteless and raw. I gave up on meat because each time I ordered it was raw. The seafood was good until I ordered a crab quiche...I asked my waiter three times if it had Fake crab meat...each time he answered. .no .when served my hubby took a bite and told me NOT to eat mine..it has fake crab. I then called my waiter over...told him I'am highly allergic to fake crab meat...he grabbed my plate! I understand it Did have fake crab. After this I stayed with the vegetarian selection because I felt safe. My hubby and I cruise for the ports and the food...we are so very disappointed in Princess. We Went to the dining room for breakfast one morning...the selection was poor.Danish, Pancakes, Juice or cereal. This was the dining room!

From the time I made the reservation everything and everybody was really excellent. From the welcome from the captain before we set sail to the others we were made to feel welcome. It was our 17th cruise and it was by far the best we ever had. we look forward to cruising again.

Nice 5 day get-away by acretella

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was a nice 5 day get away and the Princess staff went out of their way to make it a wonderful escape.  The embarkation was one of the smoothest ever in Fort Lauderdale.   Our rooms were ready when we boarded at noon.  Many passengers were already in the pools and many at the buffet and dining room at boarding time.  The shows were great and the many activities through out the day were well planned.  The 2 port days were certainly long enough to book tours or go out on your own.  We chose to do all-inclusive beach days on our own because they were far less expensive than the ship tours.  The food was good but not exceptional at all stations and dining room.  The ship clean but showing some rusting on balconies.  I would recommend this cruise and would take it again.

Had a great time by MaryandKate

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The cruise, ship and private island were great.  The wait service in the Caribe and Horizon Café was inferior to experience in the past.  Also I literally laid out at the main pool for two and half hours and not one waiter or waitress went by that I could flag for a drink.
