A relaxing time by Linry

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our second Royal Caribbean cruise and we enjoyed it every bit as much as the first.

The reception and boarding process were both very quick and efficient and our stateroom was ready at 1 pm as promised.

Because we booked the cruise only a couple of days before sailing, we could only get an 8.30 pm dining time which was too late for us, therefore we ate in the Windjammer Cafe.  The food was quite good although some dishes, such as the pan fried fish, seemed to be repeated from day to day.  However, the evening that Indian food was featured was excellent!  The snack bar variety and selection was good.

The stateroom attendant kept our accommodation spotless and the creations he made with the towels were really good and amusing.

We spent a lot of time in the Solarium, which we really enjoyed.

We enjoyed the excursion to Stingray City in Grand Cayman and the catermaran trip to a reef for snorkelling in Cozumel.  Both were well worth while.

Beautiful Ship, service and food laking by KirkO

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This is a beautiful Ship, but the staff for the most part does not have a CLUE when it comes to the common areas.... Our cabin Stewart " Amit" was good and Anytime dinning Waitress " Luisa " was Fantastic " Anytine dinning on RC could take a lesson from CARNIVAL, RC seemed confused about the whole thing..... had to make a reservation daily and still waited for 20 minutes or more ...... We feel RC is so focused on building gigantic ships that they have forgot about service on their smaller ships..... CARNIVAL WINS HANDS DOWN... RC has problems and it shows.....

Great Family Vacation on Brilliance of the Seas by CruiseJD

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We highly recommend this cruise.  We cruised with a party of nine family members and everyone had a blast!  There was always something to do, and the weather was PERFECTION.  The meals were great (even though the Minstrel chef wasn't really playing his "A" game a couple nights), and service was excellent.  Our room attendant was helpful and informative, and the service crew in the Windjammer were friendly, attentive and unobtrusive.  Sailing with this ship and crew was a treat we'll never forget.

We took the Cozumel excursion to Playa Mia beach and we were amazed by the variety of activies and the SERVICE.  This day included food and beverages as well as a wide variety of water activities  Our niece pronounced it "the best day EVAH!", and everyone agreed.

My sister and I just returned from a 4 day cruise to Cozumel on the Brilliance of the Seas. Having sailed on a lot of cruise ships, I can honestly write that this trip has been over our expectations !  Nothing bad to say, just extremely good words !  It's been PERFECT all the way, the service, the dining, the statement, the onboard activities, and most of all, the kindness of ALL the employees... when they heard my sister and I speak French, they ALL tried to talk to us and most of them DID speak French also...  Thanks to the Brilliance of the Seas for making this firswt time cruise with my sister a most memorable good trip !

One of the BEST cruises I have ever taken! by RKP

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This cruise with Royal Caribbean Intntl. was AWESOME! We had the BEST foodl, BEST service and the ship was beautiful and classy. The shows fantastic and very entertaining. Such talent onboard! There really is nothing negative I could ever say about this cruise. I hope that the future cruises we take will be as good! Our Cabin Steward, Alex was a great guy, as were all of the Dining Room staff. And the Head Waiter, Tony, WOW!! I have never seen such a hard-working and personable Head Waiter on any prior cruise. Edin who greeted and seated guests in the DIning Room was also a great guy! Very nice and accomodating! This was by far the BEST CRUISE EVER! WE LOOVED IT!!!

R.C. Does it again! 11 cruises later Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!! by ships2go

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Another no brainer vacation compliments of Royal Caribeam. I work very hard and answer questions all day long. I have two elderly parents that keep me & doctors very busy. So when I go on vacation I dont want to worry about accomadations, resturants, entertanment, and so forth. Hence a R.C. Cruise. Fine dining every day in the dining room. Impecably clean state rooms, world class shows & a crew that caters to your needs. Keep up the standard.

    Thanks Again Bill P.

Beautiful ship, but not your old time cruise by oldtimecruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship has been renovated, with many amenities added. Several optional restaurants, outdoor movies on the deck, are amongst the additions.  However, many little touches are missing, which made cruising special are gone. Of course I didn't expect a chocolate on the pillow,  but I certainly DID expect my bed to be turned down at night, and some toiletries in the room besides soap.  Even the folded towel animals  were only done twice during the cruise.  Another point is that much of the musical entertainment,  the violinists, the band, guitarist all perform in the centrum,   and there is not much seating as is necessary.  The casino is split half smoking, half non-smoking, but there were people who smoked all over and nothing was done about it.  On the positive side, our waiters were wonderful, the food was great, especially the beef choices, the ship was clean, and we found the staff were very polite.  We enjoyed the singer, the comedian and the juggler at night,  but the musical review shows were just average.  I would take this cruise again,  as now I realize cruising is not like it used to be.

Good Service/great food/cruise by awaywego123

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My friend and I enjoyed our most recent cruise, despite the uncooperative weather.  The cabin steward was especially good to us.  He made sure we were comfortable within the confines of the extremely small cabin, and always had a smile and a greeting when we passed.  His towel art was so cute, the dog seemed to actually wag his tail.  Also, our dinner waitress Katia, and waiter Amat, were special--so accommodating and pleasant.  Basically we felt that next time we would reserve a larger balcony or suite, and go for the probability of sunny days more toward summer.  The food, by the way, was superb and creatively one-of-a-kind at each and every meal.  Hats off to the chef and all his helpers!!!

Very disappointed by Cruisntheseas

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I wasn't able to get a decent seat in the dining room for the first three nights. The first night they put us at a table for 10 in a high traffic area. The second night at a table by the service area where wait staff was working. The third night behind a huge pole with a curtain wrapped around it blocking the view of the whole dining room and waiters were always coming by bumping our table and spilling our wine. The last two nights they gave us a nice table. Only because the people sitting there paid to upgrade to the steakhouse on board. The service in balcony stateroom was slow. Took forever to get our luggage and we had to call and ask for everything. I have taken 5 cruises this year and this was the worst and the most expensive. It was supposed to be a holiday New Years cruise so the rates were higher than usual but quite honestly Carnival and Royal Princess do a much better job as far as all categories are concerned.  I was very disappointed!

Nice cruise out of Tampa by rkak

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We enjoyed our first Aft cabin even though it meant a lot of walking.  The ship was all decked out for Xmas and looked great.  I am a little trired of the same menus on every RCCL ship.  Wish they changed totally every couple of years.  The entertainment was nice but can't compare to Oasis.  Over all a nice relaxing trip.

This cruise was ok .

Having cruised many times before I feel that the Brilliance of the Seas needs more !

Call me crazy but it does not even compare to Princess.

The only reason we picked Royal Carribean is because it leaves from Tampa Fl.

5 day Western Caribbean cruise by Twodrifters

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My husband and I had never cruised on a ship of this size before, but were very pleasantly surprised. In general ALL the staff onboard were always happy to greet you wherever you were on the ship and our cabin was looked after by a very willing, helpful, polite Franky from Goa - nothing was too much trouble for him.  The food was very good served by very friendly waiters/waitresses and we were always accommodated wherever we wanted to sit in the dining room. Most people made an effort to dress smartly each evening which was a pleasure to see and because it was mid-December the ship was discretely but nicely decorated for Christmas. The organisation for embarking and dis-embarking was very well co-ordinated with little waiting time, so overall an experience that we would repeat again with the same cruiseline.

The entire cruise was excellent.  The balcony stateroom was clean and the appointments impeccable.  The room attendant could not do enough for us.  The food was delicious and plentiful.  Our waiter was top-notch and professional.  The entertainment was first class.  For the price, one could not go wrong.  A very pleasant experience overall and that opinion was shared by our friends on the voyage.  This was our our third cruise with Royal Carribean.  We will ceratainly do it again.

If this is cruising I'd rather not by elliespetals

Good: Cabin and cabin attendant were very nice.  Ship was beautiful.  Has self leveling pool tables.

Bad:  Food was not very good.  Pretty tastless with little or no seasonings.  Most food items you could tell had been under the heat lamps way too long and food was dried out.  Buffett was pretty good but just your run of the mill buffet lines.  If you want room service at a particular hour order it for at least an hour before because it will take that long to arrive.  Clo and Susan need to get reall jobs.  All they seem interested in doing in posing for the camera and telling you all whats going on which they have to keep repeating as there was very little going on.  A mediocre mother planning a childrens birthday party has more imagination than Susan the activities director.  The one show we did want to see was cancelled due to rought weather.  Huh??  We are at sea folks, if you can't perform in bad weather on a ship then go find a stage that doesn't shift a bit!!  So instead lets throw a talentless comedian up on the stage and call it a day.  Want to sing karaoke?  Me too, except after the first 4 singer the equipment failed.  Note:  check out your equipment before you leave port so that you can have anythig repaired while you are docked.  Oh that's right, your greed (Royal Caribbean) doesn't allow ships in port except to discharge and board passengers.  We left at 9"30 and there were people already qued up to board for the next departure on the same day.  The merciless hawking of items for sale is shamful!!  You have it at full price (LOL) the first day, then you miraculously manage to reduce the price by 75 % on day 3 and guess what??  You still probably made 100% profit!!  If this is cruising I'd rather rent a house by the sea and enjoy not being bothered by Clo and Susan!!
