This cruise line was a real positive surprise for us. The ports along the Dalmation coast are magnificent and Azamara had a lot to do with our amazing trip.

Definitely dont miss the white night. Great food, great atmosphere and you get to enjoy it together with the captian and the officers.

Ignore any phone advise re embarcation. Best to turn up late as they are not as well organised as other companies we have sailed with. This is our second cruise and threadbare first was even worse.

Go for the itinerary not on-board activities. Pay extra for specialty restaurants. They are worth it.

Don’t expect to be able to get helpful/useful information once onboard, just what the cruise line chooses to share. The ATM for euros did not work; euros had to be purchased at Guest Relations. For ports where pounds were needed, these could not be obtained on board. Nor was there specific information on ATMs in town, just that you could find them. Walking with a cane and limited in how far I can walk, it would have been nice to be directed to an ATM near the bus stop. Surely staff has (or could readily obtain) this kind of information. In Dublin, we asked about getting a taxi to our hotel near the port and were repeatedly assured that we would not be able to find a taxi but should instead hire what Azamara had for sale, a town car or some such for $250 or $175or something. Taxis were swarming when we reached the port and we paid 10 euros.

This seems to be a ship (and the Greece intensive itinerary in particular) oriented towards older passengers. Azamara highlights their ports of call and time in ports, but the excursion options are limited and mostly sedate. The guests who seemed to really enjoy the Azamara experience were older, liked the extra attention from the senior staff (especially for repeat customers), and the relaxed/sedate atmosphere on board and on most excursions.

We would say that going to the information sessions about the ports the day before is a great idea. May sure to read your daily newsletter as it lets you know everything happening on that day.

not to bother with premium liquor package, pay upgrade at time of ordering a specialty drink, Their normal free alcohol gives a lot of choices.

There were very windy days, no need of own veranda for this trip (in late Apr- early May). We didn’t feel any motions at night as ship was sailing, room is on the middle of deck 4.

Pay for laundry service and pressing instead of trying to use the self service laundry to save yourself time and headache, especially during a sea day when just about EVERYBODY ELSE wants to do their laundry at the same time! I found it far too stressful and wasted a lot of my time running back and forth to do another load, put wet clothes into the dryer and pick them up in time before someone else moved them into a pile on the floor. It wasn’t worth saving the money!

Do it if you care about food and staff. If you like cruising because of the onboard activities, Azamara is not for you.
