Nice adriatic itinerary, wonderful on-board service, below average food. by ajcarcoba

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Azamara Pursuit

Azamara is positioned similar to Regent or Oceania, however it does not execute as well as those. The ship is well appointed and even though it's 20+ yrs old, the last dry dock was 2018 and they did a good job in updating the ship. Regular cabins are tiny, the ocean club suites are very spacious and well appointed. Food is average at best; Specialty dining is 8/10 overall good but some execution flaws with seafood (crabcakes, lobster, scallops). General dining is not good; Powdered oily eggs, some frozen items. For lunch I stuck with salads and burgers which are easy to execute. Service was exceptional. Also itinerary is good as all days there's a port call and generous time to spend on each, however a couple of ports (Argostoli and Olympia) were filler ports. Embarkation was confusing; The customer service team couldn't confirm if we needed to show up to Venice Marittima or Chioggia. We showed up at Marittima and there was no signage of Azamara personnel. After 3 stops within the port we finally found them and the took us to the ship. Had I know that we could embark myself in Chioggia, we could have driven ourselves. Accounting/Guest relations/Bill settlement was very confusing; A day before disembarking I requested a balance of my total vacation charges, the staff provided a balance of $380 debit. I spent an additional $100 and expected $480 the last day I was charged $1,424. While I requested a balance for the total spend, guest relations only gave me the balance for the amount while on board and did not clarify of the extra $948 spent on prepaid tours before embarkation date, so beware that any charges prior to embarkation are not included in partial balances while on board. In Summary. Excellent itineraries and Service, Fair ship and amenities, Average to below average food and some process flaws keep Azamara a tad below its more established comparable peers.

An interestingly different cruise at the bottom of the world by cypaquin

Ship: Azamara Pursuit

This was our 24th cruise. Each one is different, but there are many similarities. The locations we visited in South Africa are so different from what we encountered elsewhere in the world. We were in a more primitive environment overall. The ship personnel took care of us well, the ship took us where we were going reliably, and the atmosphere on board was pleasant and made us feel safe. One special note: I play the piano and hoped to find a piano I could play on to retain my skills. I found one in the Drawing Room and had a chance to play a few Christmas tunes out there. I liked that, and the very few passengers who joined me in that room seemed to enjoy the music.

First time Cruisers to Norway by LNLNelson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Azamara Pursuit

No complaints - Azamara cruise staff was amazing and super to us. With no other cruise to compare it's hard to say anything but glowing comments. We were pleasantly surprised by the level of service and kindness from all the staff. We had a really poor experience with the website as they were in transition. Lack of response, inability to make any adjustments to our reservation etc. We were so happy that the issues with the website did not mean that we would have issues on the cruise.

First time cruise & Azamara experience by Yukie

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Azamara Pursuit

Excellent cruise as it was our first time cruise experience. I can’t wait for another cruise vacation with Azamara. The ship was just as I needed and expected. Smaller ship with great services, food and cleanliness. Excellent specialty restaurants! I don’t think I am interested in any larger cruise ship with thousands of passengers. Also gratuity and most drinks were included so it was easy, no surprise. Laundry facilities were nice bonus. For me, no comparison with any other cruises. Our itinerary had to change due to stormy windy weather, missed island of Amorgus and end up in 2days in Rhodes. The captain and crews executed our transition to the alternative plan smoothly with no confusions.

I would just like to compliment Diane and Dudley Bennett () for their professional, efficient, friendly, and the amazing job they did in putting together my cruise from Lisbon to Italy. They have been extremely responsive to assist with all my needs and concerns with regard to past, present, and future cruises as well.I already booked another cruise for 2024. Okay but not worth the price by tteshera

Ship: Azamara Pursuit / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

Azamara sells their itineraries and time in port, but we didn't see anything special along these lines on this itinerary. Everywhere we went there were other giant cruise ships i.e. no places that only Azamara goes. And, despite some of the ports being known for great dining and late-night experiences, there were no overnight stays. Also, the excursion options are limited, so that's another disappointment for a cruise line that highlights the in-port experience. Since on-board entertainment and activities are limited, this seems like the kind of cruise that caters to the retired set. We were hoping to get an intimate exposure to the Greek Isles, but most of the ports seem to be very touristy and commercial. Our best experiences were the third-party excursions we booked.

Spectacular Middle East Itinerary by agoldsleger

Ship: Azamara Pursuit / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

Azamara Pursuit is a very nice ship with excellent service for the most part. The itinerary was very good and it allowed us to see many sites at a leisurely pace. I would probably sail on the ship again for the right itinerary.

Breathtaking Bucket List Destination by Docntx

Ship: Azamara Pursuit / Destination: South America

Excellent ship, overall good value. Excursions seemed a bit steep, although run well. Ship seems to have minor problems surprising for being the youngest of the fleet. Captain and crew are exceptional. Minor questions: Why no outside temperature included in all the ship info? Why have HD TVs and only SD programming?

We really liked Azamara. The inclusions make it a good value. We had lived in South America so we did not do any tours but it is nice to have overnights. The service and people really are amazing.

Not as good as expected by EdFLondon

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Azamara Pursuit / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

All the pluses first Number of people in front of me at check-in at 11am: ZERO Boarding group number 4, and it looked like there were about 10 people (max) in each boarding group Had to wait for the Patio (and buffet) to open at noon. "Suffered" by lounging on the plush pool chairs. I really liked the Patio. Ate there twice. The cabin: Wonderful The sheets And those large plush pillows Plus, the mattress topper was so good that I could not feel the split between the two beds Also noticed that the curtains and drapes were much nicer, heavier than others. That quality feel The negative: the bathroom: smallest I’ve ever had and not the greatest water pressure in the sink or the shower Big towels, tho , almost too big, if that’s possible And those little sweets every night on the dish. Nice touch. The coffee table didn't match the decor and is in the way. Moved it Not a glaring colour in sight anywhere: no turquoise, no red battling with orange. The Den and The Living Room are amazing spaces, so was the Cabaret Discoveries: the food was amazing - both breakfast and dinner as an example: Sunday night dinner: over-baked salmon. Delicious (not a word I use often) and, when I lifted the salmon off the asparagus and potato under-parts, there were the two asparagus, perfectly crossed in an X, and I mean perfectly placed. Waiting: for anything: negligible…. Zero checking in, zipped through boarding, I think there were a max of three couples ahead of me getting into dinner. And especially disembarking: where I am used to long, long queues in large, large groups: nada. Walk off when I wanted Which leads me to the negatives: No served breakfast on the last day. That was a surprise. On NCL and on Celebrity, there is a full-service breakfast on the last day (as well as the buffet). I was really surprised that, on the last day, in Discoveries, it was a buffet. Granted, a nice enough one, including the carved ham station, but, still, buffet. Not the best in meeting my expectation. Also, surprised that there was no served lunch on embarkation day. Again, on all the other cruises I’ve been on, except Pullmantur, the MDR has been open for embarkation lunch. I did go to the buffet once: on the first day, for chocolate dessert which I took back to The Patio. It really was as much as a scrum as any other line – tho in a smaller space. Service: this is where Azamara did not meet my expectations. At that price, I expected near-flawless service. Three (negative) examples: I ate at the Patio on embarkation day. That went fine. I ordered chicken wings, then cold soup, then a burger. Came one at a time. But when I ate there on Saturday, I ordered chicken wings and a salmon burger and the wings and the burger arrived at the same time. Not a good move. It meant one wasn't was warm as it should've been by the time I got to it. Dinner on Sunday: the waiter plopped down a Caesar salad that belonged two tables to my left. And then gave me French onion soup when I had ordered clam chowder. The guy next to me ordered a steak medium rare, and it wasn’t. His wife was a bit disappointed too, and they’re frequent Azamara people. Twice, my sparkling water glass got topped up with still water. Granted, they were constantly asking to refill the wine, but they usually asked if I wanted more water AS they were pouring it in They were also not the most pleasant and engaging service staff in The Patio. Almost surly. Would I cruise AZ again: yes, with a couple of conditions -- it would need to be a more special itinerary and I would not pay a premium of more than a few hundred dollars
