Review summary

Excellent cruise as it was our first time cruise experience. I can’t wait for another cruise vacation with Azamara. The ship was just as I needed and expected. Smaller ship with great services, food and cleanliness. Excellent specialty restaurants! I don’t think I am interested in any larger cruise ship with thousands of passengers. Also gratuity and most drinks were included so it was easy, no surprise. Laundry facilities were nice bonus. For me, no comparison with any other cruises. Our itinerary had to change due to stormy windy weather, missed island of Amorgus and end up in 2days in Rhodes. The captain and crews executed our transition to the alternative plan smoothly with no confusions.

Embarkation

It was very difficult to find the pier where Azamara pursuit was. No signs, we’ve never been in Piraeus port. Nothing mentioned confirmation emails. Had to ask locals where it is.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Windows cafe was excellent in both food and services. One morning, we didn’t know opening times are different each morning (as itinerary of each day, opening varies +/-30mins), we went 30mins too early. Crew at the windows cafe let us have morning cups at the table with smile.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Too windy and col for enjoyment of the pool for us for first 5 days. Didn’t go to the fitness center but enjoy walking in top deck with great views. Also drawing room is a good room as it usually empty and have a good view. I read books I brought and wrote emails to friends etc., with great ocean views.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We enjoyed Martin’s sing & talk, wished he does it every night. Another excellent band was Jazz by pursuit band in Living room. It was only one night, again it would be nice to hear them every night. Great trumpet. Over all whatever it was offered on the ship were enjoyable. Violinist duo was not my cup of the tea. It would be nice to hear string quartet for classic music. Nice to have movie at small theater, day & night.

Service and Staff

Andrei who took care of our room was Excellent!! He was always there to open my door before I could do it with my card (coincidentally almost every time). Always with courtesy and smile. Services at Windows cafe and Prime C were excellent. Not sure about Cafe on the deck and mosaic cafe. One particular attendants at deck cafe was not so polite, when we asked him questions like what is the cut of meat (ex. Filet mignon) or when my husband couldn’t decide the wine to go with the meal right away. he was rushing us with no reasons, he was annoyed when there were only 2 tables occupied. We never went back there.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was Clean everywhere. A bit confusing in first 2 days about front and end of the ship. Everything was well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cleanliness and comfort were excellent. Enough storage space, comfy bed. Appreciated water bottles replenished whenever I returned to the room. Our Room Location was in the middle of the ship. Convenient for elevators, Mosaic cafe, getting on / off ship for a day and customer relation desk, but no traffic or noise near the door. Very easy to get everywhere on the ship.

Ship tip

There were very windy days, no need of own veranda for this trip (in late Apr- early May). We didn’t feel any motions at night as ship was sailing, room is on the middle of deck 4.

Ports of call

Piraeus (Athens), Greece

Confirmation email (nor any information from Azamara) doesn’t mention exact embarkation Pier location. As we arrived at the port, we were expected some signs or last minute update text, but nothing. We end up asking local people who work at the port to find where Azamara ship was and we took taxi in hurry as it is a huge port. We planed and had plenty of time but didn’t feel in ease. Luck of communication from Azamara for this. As we check in, we were asked room number instead of confirmation #. The most recent confirmation email from Azamara doesn’t say my room number, I had to dig in old emails to find it. Wish the last confirmation email from Azamara includes Room # instead of confirmation # that nobody asks.

Excellent. Cold Wet towel service after excursions was great.

Disembarkation

Everything was excellent on this day. A bus directly to airport from the port was organized very well. Clean and on time, as Istanbul’s port and air port was both new and excellent facilities with signs. As well as plenty of Azamara staff there to guide us to right ways.
