Review summary

Thoroughly enjoyed our 'maiden' cruise, and YES, we'll be back for another cruise ... when we've saved up. Great effort and service by everyone at P&O - happy to fully recommend them.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
The whole process was efficient, relaxed and very well organised. Staff very friendly and helpful ... even security !!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We used both the buffet and Freedom Dining. We had great service at our table from Shubert & Stevenson in the restaurant and made my sister in laws birthday very special.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Plenty to choose from and enjoy or not - as we did most of the time :-)

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The 'Headliners' were A-MAZE-ING !! So professional and really looked as if they were enjoying it. Connected extremely well with their audience.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Friendly, helpful, polite, easy to talk with, eager to go out of their way to help. Their best quality was making you feel as you were the most important guest (not passenger) on the ship.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was clean, attractive and well looked after. I'm not sure when she had her last 'makeover' but a few areas appeared a bit 'worm'. However, NOTHING to diminish the quality of our cruise.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
A lovely cabin although a bit cosey at times with three of us. Our steward, Poonam was excellent and as well as keeping our cabin spotless, we had many lovely conversations with her about her family and our destinations.

Ship tip

If you have freedom dining, get in early and enjoy a slow, leisurely meal.

Ports of call

Southampton (London), England

4 out of 5
Only embarked & disembarked so didn't see any of it. Looked OK

Stavanger, Norway

4 out of 5
Really enjoyed looking around even though it was dull, wet and misty. Very warm welcome from house we were able to visit. No excursion.

Alesund, Norway

5 out of 5
Again, a really interesting place to explore and the dry weather made it far more interesting. (We even had some sun.) Very picturesque and welcoming. Shop keepers were very friendly and helpful. No excursion. Instead we walked up the 418 steps to the amazing viewpoint at Aksla. Well worth the effort!

Flam

5 out of 5
We LOVED Flam (or Flom as its pronounced!). We didn't see much of it as we went on the 'Norway in a Nutshell' excursion. This was excellent mix of private & public railway, lunch and a return trip by coach with a commentary by a lady who really knew her stuff: very interesting & enjoyable. Lots of amazing scenery.

Bergen, Norway

5 out of 5
Loads to see in Bergen but we headed straight for the 'Ice Magic'. An ice bar with some wonderful sculptures and carvings. Lovely friendly staff and well worth a visit.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Quick, easy and efficient. From leaving ship to exiting car park = 15 mins !
