Review summary

Cruise overall was great. The itinerary for this was fabulous. Almost every port is superb. Still lots of coughing and sneezing on board and quite a few people isolated because of testing positive while on board after reporting symptoms. Sunbed hogging and placing towels on beds when not using them needs to be addressed. It was obvious people were doing it .

Embarkation

Absolutely easy and very fast.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Generally good. Main dining room very relaxed and amazing service. Windjammer hit and miss. Sometimes too busy and not a great selection. Seems smaller than other ships.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Pool areas were lovely. The adults only area was outstanding. Large and beautifully set out.North Star was definitely worthwhile.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Great entertainment. Especially the Music Hall. The band were amazing every night. They did a different set every night which catered for most tastes. Artist in the Pub was ok and on regularly throughout the cruise. Entertainment in the Two 70 was brilliant. Very professional and awesome lighting and sound.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
One of the best things on Anthem were the staff. It was just like the old days . Almost impossible to put your empty glass down without being offered another drink immediately. This was a lot different from our previous cruises on Independence in the last few years ,where there wasn't nearly enough staff in the bars. Anthem staff couldn't do enough for you at all times. Special praise goes to Vintages staff and Music Hall.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This ship is beautifully laid out and high spec. Beautifully decorated, artwork etc. Everything was immaculately clean .

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had a balcony on deck 8. It was a perfect size and quite spacious. Lovely sized bathroom and shower. Beds are huge and comfortable.

Ship tip

In all this is a fabulous ship. Sea days can be very busy but it's just a case of planning your day to avoid crowds if possible. Great entertainment, amazing staff, plenty of dining options, and well laid out. Probably the only thing that needs sorting is the fact many of the sunbeds on part of the ship were constantly covered in soot from the funnels. Seems to be a common occurrence on Anthem. Apart from that a fabulous Ship and can't wait to go on her again.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We did the early (self) disembarkation. Very easy to do and great if you want to get an early getaway while the motorways are still quiet.
