Don’t go. If you’re like us, you can only travel so many days per year. I would pay to go on Carnival verses going for free on Royal Carib again. Probably why so many people don’t like cruses, they want on Royal Caribbean first!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Paid extra for the “key” program. Very fast priority boarding. However, wasn’t attached to our onboard account. Therefore, problem with wifi, priority seating for show, embark and disembark meals, priority luggage on disembark. Twice through their 1/2 hour lines and still did not really fix our accounts, only the immediate problem. They had NO CLUE what they were doing.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
For the most part, food throughout the ship was the same in buffet or sit down. Can’t say for sure about dinner, but breakfast sit down was a scaled down version of the buffet. All food didn’t compare to the quality that we got on two previous Carnival ship. Maybe if you payed it would be better, but we never paid on Carnival and far better.

Entertainment

Shows that we were able to see were nice. Very hard to get into. Pay for the “priority key “ if you want any chance to see a show. Couldn’t get into the comedy club even once. On Carnival, went to shows every night. 5x the space with 1/2 the passengers. On this cruse, in bed before 10:00, previous Carnival cruises, probably not before 1:00-2:00am. Overall, boring!
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Our service was ver good. The biggest disappointment was not being able to dock at the private island, so we just slowly headed home. Our previous stop in San Juan was VERY short, like 4/6 hours. Thank hod our first (only) stop was for an entire day (normal). BTW, they did give us a credit of something like $80 for missing 1/3 of our stops. Like that is worth ANYTHING! If I could go for FREE on Roy Caribbean or pay $500 on Carnival, I’d pay the $500. I don’t get that ms chances to travel, so I’d rather make it count.

Nice cabin. Thank hod we upgraded to a balcony (interior) cabin, or I don’t know what we would have done - boring

Could not stop due to waves. Can you believe that their unprotected doctor sticks straight out into the Atlantic Ocean, no protection what so ever. We were told that they were no able to stop on 2 of the last 3 cruises as well! Im glad that we were not one of those families with kids that were looking so forward to their “Perfect Day”, I was disappointed enough!
Love cruising on this ship. My kid loved the activities and made some friends. Generally lonely as an only child. Not on this trip. Great fun for entire family
We prefer RCCL over Carnival and Princess.....99 percent of our cruises are on Royal. There have been occasions where service was less than exceptional but for the most part we rate RCCL very highly.
After a year and a half of no cruises, I must be a beggar because I’m definitely not a chooser right now. I’m ready to hop on whatever’s next. Every cruise I’ve been on has been amazing (except with brother in law and his wife) husbands idea.
Royal and carnival have both been great!!!
I guess that's why there are more than one cruise line. We personally hate carnival and won't cruise with them and love RC. But we certainly respect your opinion.
Interesting. I’m am just the opposite I wouldn’t go on Carnival for free. Royal in my opinion is amazing and Carnival, well NOT! We had an absolutely horrible experience on Carnival, not to mention we don’t want to contend with all the kids on Carnival because it is the cheapest.
