Great islands by jusnico

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We had a wonderful time off the ship. All the islands were beautiful ad we learned s lot about each. The ship lacked entertainment particularly at night. Too few shows. The ship itself was old and is in need of a renovation. The staff was great. All were very helpful.

Beautiful Islands and fun excursions by cindydamschrode

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The Adventure of the Seas ship definitely was tired and in need of updating. The service was excellent and the food was very good as well. However the evening entertainment was awful! They spent little to no money on entertainment and the onboard dancers/singers were terrible! The islands visited and excursions were great so that made up for what the ship lacked - but when we went to look at booking our next cruise we were shocked at how much the price had increased for the next year and how little onboard ship credit was being offered - no value perceived.

Exceptional cruise except for My Time Dining by sleinen

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Overall this cruise was absolutely exceptional. The ship was updated & clean with friendly staff. The food was great and the activities are endless. Don't choose My Time Dining, making reservations means nothing. Stick to the seated dining times to ensure you don't wait for a table for 30-45 minutes.

We're already making plans for our next trip.

Adventure of the Seas - Royal Caribbean by mar21995

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Sailed on the Adventure of the Seas from 1/30/16 - 2/6/16.  The boat is beautiful and well maintained.  It is showing its age in some areas but you have to be really picky to care.  Food:  Breakfast buffet - so, so at best.  They need to change up their selections from day to day.  Same food everyday and it wasn't great.  The lunch items at the buffet were quite good and offered a good variety.  Dinner in the "My Time Dining" dining room was excellent every night!  Johnny Rockets - the burgers are GREAT, a heart attach waiting to happen, but great none the less.  Shows/Activities: Very entertaining, a large variety of activities, if you can't find something you like then you aren't looking hard enough.  Shore excursions:  Did not book through the boat, booked on our own.  Overall experience:  Very Good to Great, even though there were 3,000 people on the ship it never felt like it was crowded, you could always find a quite spot if you wanted to.  The weather was PERFECT!  Couldn't have scripted the weather any better ourselves.

Really enjoyed cruise...the windjammer food was outstanding.  The staff was always helpful & friendly.  Would recommend this cruise to others & will take a cruise from San Juan again even though it is expensive to get to & the cost of cab's are expensive.

Great ports by jacki2677

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The experience overall was a lot of fun!  Would do it again, the ports were fantastic.  I would recommend doing an excursion in Dominica, as there is not much to do on the island and has very limited shopping, restaurants, etc. The ship is a bit outdated, but had great entertainment and activities.  Juan Pena (server) was amazing and went above and beyond his duties in the dining room.  I would NOT recommend doing the my time dining because although they take reservations, they want you to be sat in the same section every night so that you have the same servers.  Therefore, we ended up eating between 8:15-8:30pm every night.  Overall a good experience and good price for what you received.

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This was the best cruse we have ever taken. This was our first time on a Royal Caribbean ship. The food was great ,the shows were great. We had a nice room overlooking the promenade were we could see everything out of the bay window in our room. All of the ports we went to were great.

awesome by mamaduck

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We booked all of our excursions through other companies than royal Caribbean and it was an exellent decision. We got a lot of info on each place and had very small groups compared to the huge rc groups.  Great ship too and is getting upgraded next fall. I didn't think it needed updates

Great time was had by all by Cruiser755

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We had a great time and really enjoyed the cruise. It is a great way to relax, yet also away to let loose and party. The ship offered so many things that you could not do all of it.

Great Itinerary by Bobcatdad

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We have sailed with RC for many years.  The Adventure of the Seas is a nice ship, but is in need of refurbishment.  Rumor is that is happening this November. We have cruised the southern caribbean 3 times.  In the winter, if you want guaranteed warm weather, this is your best bet.  The only island stop we didn't care for was Martinique.  People not friendly and not much to do.  Shopping is not great.  Not known for it's beaches.  Loved the other islands.

It was not what I expected by Yuripola

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

There was no adventure in this ship she shouldn't be in water

She is old and need remodeling immediately

Water pressure is low

Bathroom get clogged

Bad odor

Food quality and selection very cheap and it is high in sodium

Entertainment is a joke

The only thing was good the service in dinning room

I have been cruising since 1986 and I know the difference

Great Vacation by adams5ms

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ship was very nice, lots to do, and my kids loved using the interactive boards by the elevators to see what there was to do at any given time. The food was average, nothing terrible, but nothing great.  The excursions are way overpriced, we did a couple of them, but we also ventured out on our own and saved a lot of money doing the same things the cruise line offered, but at a much better price.  The crew was terrific, all very nice, very friendly, and happy.  A joy to be there.

Disappointed by pblackmore

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We received a notice our boarding would be delayed due to gastrointestinal illness on the prior cruise. The text message said " In an abundance of caution we are conducting enhanced sanitizing onboard the ship and with in the terminal to help prevent any illness from affecting your vacation. Due to this extra cleaning and sanitizing we ask that guest not arrive to the terminal before 2pm"

Disappointing but at least the Ship would be clean and sanitized. We checked in at 630 pm and our bathroom was dirty. The phone I used to call to complain was also dirty. The supervisor for housekeeping came to check it out and just made excuse after excuse. The toilet had black dirt under the seat. Her excuse was when we sanitize we spray all over and it leaves a film. There was not a film in our room it was dirt and hair on the floor in the bathroom.  Also my sister and brother in law's room was clean and there was not a film in their room.

The loveseat that was in our room looked as if someone had an accident on it. Needless to say we did not feel comfortable to sit on it. Again the supervisor said oh its just wear and tear but we will have it cleaned tomorrow. The attended came back and cleaned the room that night. The loveseat did not get cleaned until our 3rd day on the cruise when we told the supervisor again. The stains that we were told was just wear and tear came out. We were offered dinner or wine for the inconvenience. We did not except anything because we did not complain for that reason.

We also were disappointed in the staff. We have been on 4 cruises and the staff has always gone over and above to be kind and smile. There were only a hand full of bartenders that were friendly. For the most part we felt like you were bothering them. I'm not sure if this behavior is due to gratuity being added to your room automatically. $12.95 per person per room.

My husband wanted a G&T with a lime and orange wedge and we were told they were out of limes. That was the 2nd day. On the 3rd day he saw there were limes so he asked a different bartender for the G&T with lime and orange and was told "we are not allowed to put lime or orange in the drinks for contamination reasons". On the 5th day I saw yet again a different bartender put an orange and cherry in a drink for someone else so I asked for the G&T with a lime and orange garnish and he did it.  Finally my husband got his G&T.

My husband and I were disappointed on this cruise. We also believe the supervisors set the pace so if they make excuses the help will make excuses. Maybe better training on customer service from the top down.

One more disappointment. My sister and I purchased the Access with the Captain for our husbands. They were so excited and looking so forward for that excursion on our last day at sea.  It was scheduled for 8 am on Friday. Thursday night about 8:30 I called to see where they should meet. I was told "oh that was canceled and you will get a credit on your bill. The girl should have called and told you." Well she did not. Then on Friday about 9:30 I get a call from the guest services saying the Captains excursion was canceled. I asked why you would call now when it was at 8 am. More excuses "We tried calling last night but there was no answer" there is a message board on your tv and a message can be left on the phone. Once again they just make up excuses. It was canceled due to sanitation and health reasons.

Big disappointment

Family Time with Kids by Outrage190

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ship was perfect for our teenagers (15 & 16) who wanted to spend time with us, but needed that freedom to explore safely, and be adventurous on their own.  The ship needs some updates and things are looking a bit worn.  However, I'm not spending time on that since the renovations are due later this year.  The staff was very friendly.  The R.C. singers for our entertainment were very much lacking.  The two nights they were in the spot light, hurt to watch.  But all the other entertainment was fantastic.  The visiting entertainment held all of our interest and was very enjoyable.  Thank you for another great cruise.

Jan. 9th 2016 sailing of Adventure of the Seas by SherryNickols

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We have been on over 30 cruises and mostly Royal Caribbean, but many other lines as well.  Adventure is a great ship; it is going into rehab later this spring to install a Flow Rider which will make this a GREAT ship!  The ship is well maintained and the crew is excellent! I would say the food was a lesser quality than other times we have cruised, but not enough to make a matter over.  The boarding process was long and arduous because the week before we sailed they had mass rotovirus outbreak and they took the time and care to do a deep sanitation of the ship, which we were grateful as there were NO signs of any illness on board.  But, after that boarding wait, as things as usual for Royal Carib!  Easy on and easy off when in ports.  The Ice show was FANTASTIC!!!! Do not miss this!  The other shows were lesser quality than we have had in the past; who knows why?  But, the casino was fine; except, they allow smokers so for us non smokers, it is blah! IF you are a smoker, you will like this ship; lots of places to smoke! Loved the big screen at the pool and the musicians on board were great!!!! So overall; this cruise gets a VERY GOOD!!!

Not a good experience by rnckr1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Customer service fell short in every way, except the main dining room.  The crowds were managed horribly.  This was my 8th cruise but first on Royal Caribbean.  It will likely be my last on the line.  The mad rush to get into the ice skating show was terrible.  The show was great but the experience tainted by the large crowd to get in.  Why not give tickets first come first serve?  Then there would be no mass of people.  The Promenade, while beautiful, was often so crowded with people as to be unusable.  There is virtually no place to eat after 9pm.  I find that unacceptable on a cruise.  The debarkation process was also not handled well.  People we talked to, except the dining staff did not seem to care about our experience at all.  The bed was terribly uncomfortable.  Your staff tried to help fix the problem but they did not have the tools.  Not being able to sleep properly for 7 days really poisons everything you do.  I also found the shore excursion options lacking compared to my prior cruises.
