Service on board was truly amazing, food and entertainment were very good. Great ports of call.

The only bad thing: whatever you had to or wanted to buy on board was very overpriced and you could not help feel like Royal Caribbean was taking advantage... it does take away from the experience.

Enjoyable week by sglaskey

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

Adventure of the Seas has been recently refurbished and it shows - nice kids pool area, waterslides, new carpet, etc. The crew - MDR, room attendants, bar waiters - were excellent as usual. The food in the MDR to good to very good (yes, we had lobster on the last night). The itinerary - St. Thomas, St. Kitts, Aruba, and Curacao is excellent. The ice shows are stronger than those seen on other ships. My disappointment was that Chops was not yet open, and the cruise director and her staff did not have the energy or apparent want to interact with passengers as I have experienced on other ships (which made events rather long and boring and actually made me avoid things I typically enjoy - the 70's show, Quest - as I didn't want to suffer through the lack of energy of the mistress of cerremonies). Overall a nice way to spend the Christmas holidays.

Great Cruise just hated the last day by lofrobell

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This was a fantastic week long adventure in the Southern Caribbean! The ports of call were all great and the service was stellar. Only reason I am giving 4 stars and not 5 is the disembarkation process. The morning we were to get off the ship we had to be out of our stateroom by 0900 and we were not allowed to leave the ship until 1100. This meant that for 3 hours we were forced to sit in a theater without our luggage and wait with nothing but cold coffee and stale pastries provided for us. Not the greatest ending on an otherwise amazing vacation.

good Itenerary, food not so much by phill87983590

This was our second time sailing on Adventure of the seas, the first time was in July 2003 when the ship was nearly new. I like the Adventures layout better than any of the other ships i have sailed upon, of which there are many. She is still in great shape, they have kept everything top notch. The service is very good. However the food quality has taken a dive, specifically with the sea food and deserts. I ordered several seafood dishes including shrimp cocktail, clams, fish of the day, etc. they all had an overly fishy flavor, the deserts nearly alll are a pan style pudding and the souffle I had was not fresh, it had a thick skin on top. The premium restaurant Giovanni's was super Fantastic, specifically the pasta, best i have ever had. The ports of call were good however, Saint Kits is quite lacking, a sea day would be preferable. Saint Martin, Saint Lucia, Antigua are my favorites.

worst company ever by robpalfrey

I had no favorite part because my son was born in Puerto Rico and they decided to replace there birth certificates. Well we were not aware of this so he was told even though he had his original certificate that he was not able to board. I spoke to my travel agent who was not aware of this. Royal Caribbean is the worst. There director told me its my fault I should have known. No where on their website does it say anything about this issue.

Go to carnival or one of the other cruise line that actually care about their guests.

Southern Caribbean from San Juan by EBfromPA

Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We were thoroughly pleased with all of the employees on the Adventure of the Seas ship.  They went above and beyond to make our trip enjoyable.  Although we liked the spaciousness of our junior suite, #1646, the location on Deck 10, closer to the aft than mid-ship proved to be a noisy location.  If you are a light sleeper I would think twice before booking a room on deck 10 toward the aft.

The staff onboard MAKES the EXPERIENCE by timong

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The best part of the cruise was the staff onboard. This goes from the room attendant, Owen to the dining room staff, Junior, Lena, Gerald, Dewa as well as the maitre'd Anthony and Devan, also included are the sport activity staff, i.e. Jade, Joao, Callum, Ali and Angeline.

The staff are always there to serve and will do anything to make the trip more enjoyable. This is particularly true for the dining staff, especially Gerald who was very helpful in recommending dinner items as well as  bringing an alternative meal. Anthony surprised us one night with a great chicken tikka masala because we mentioned that we enjoyed the Indian dinner at the windjammer  - incredible.

As for the sports staff that has to deal with the Flowrider. They were the best. Rain or shine they are there patiently coaching the passengers. The three that stood out the most for me were Joao, Angeline and Callum who took time to coach me through the stand up surf and also the boogie board. Had a great blast on that!!! Best entertainment so far.

The other entertainment was okay. However a few of the events that was hosted by Connie, were pretty good since she made most of the experience fun. This included Trivia to dances. I am surprised that the night club experience is lacking this time compared to when I was on the Mariner of the Sea a few years back where there were multiple dance area. This time, it seemed that only the Moon bar was the only place to dance.

Another experience that made is all worth while was the chef's table. There was some error in the handling of our dining for two and the ship crew accidentally booked us on the Chef's Table for the last night. It was a good experience but way too much alcohol which I could hardly even consume half of it. But the quality of the food and the pairing of the wine was just exquisite. Also the table attendant and the chef took time to explain what we were eating which made for a wonderful experience.

Generally great experience on the ship. General buffet (windjammer) food was slightly below par but for an everyday lunch meal it was okay. However it could be enhanced by better dessert selection since most of the desserts were mousse based.

Will definitely be coming back. Once again a shout out to all the staff members on the Adventure of the Seas - we will be back!

Wonderful Cruise with Rough Start by robertogan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The itinerary was great and the staff and service were excellent. The only problem was with the two interconnecting rooms. The guest before us purchased wheels of cheese in one of the ports and cooled it on the carpet with ice during the cruise which leaked into the carpet. The rooms smelled like old diapers. Our stateroom personnel agreed and we changed cabins while the carpets were replaced - problem solved. They were vvery apologetic and the rest of the cruise was outstanding! Happy

Happy Cruiser by JanineCos

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I already had in my mind this would be the last Royal Caribbean cruise I would do. I felt like RCC just wasn't worth the money. However, this cruise sucked me back in. The stops were great and the food was delicious. RCC doesn't have as many shows as they used to but we had stops everyday except one. I would definitely recommend doing this cruise. The only problem I had was when I disembarked and retrieved my luggage. Whoever RCC contracts for luggage does a horrible job My luggage had to be dropped from an extremely high point because the bottom wheels were gone and there was a huge crack. I had to go purchase a new bag to get my stuff home. The suitcase wasn't heavy because I just had snorkeling gear in there. Now I have to try and get reimbursed from RCC...which I heard is a huge headache but only time will tell.

Nicely refurbished ship, terrific itinerary by ChrisTaylor

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ship was refurbished just a couple of months ago. Very nicely done. Food was great, especially Giovanni's (sur-charge). Unfortunately, due to scheduling problems during the refurb (hurricane), the "Chops" sur-charge restaurant was "still to come"

The set of ports were very, very nice. We had a ship excursion in every port and they were all well done. Especially loved catamaran sail followed by snorkeling and cave tour in Barbados.

Excellent Service by DowntonCruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

Crew was extremely courteous and polite at every aspect of the cruise. Would have liked more options for wheelchair accessible excursions. Food was delicious. Hard to catch an elevator during main seating times. Spa was wonderful.

Excellent Cruise, staff & boat, bad room location. by daveoff2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Excellent Food! Staff is friendly & helpful! Great ports of call!

Do not book a room at very rear of boat , unless you want to smell cigarette smoke from employees who might be looking at you from their break area.

Also in this location , the propeller shaft will vibrate so hard you might have trouble sleeping!

Southern trip of RCI Adventure of the Sea by robwaller

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Best- at sea day.( Islands all seemed the same after a while. ) Room attendant was great. Great breakfasts.

Worst- bathroom odors. Poor balcony ( glass was frosted). Noisy ship.. seemed crowded. Buffet was always crowded and noisy. Getting through customs seemed unnecessarily slow. Perhaps it was because the porters wanted cruisers to use them to circumvent long lines( for a healthy "tip" of course).

Wonderful Trip by duckkeyharry

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ship was spotless and beautiful. The dining rooms were full of attentive and well trained staff. The food was well prepared and delicious. There was a theme for every night's dinner in the buffet area. The one and only specialty restaurant was the best. However, it was a shock to find out there was only one specialty restaurant after we had boarded the ship. The advertising for the ship wasn't correct. I would recomend this ship to everyone. Things that I would not recomend is buying the drinks packages. They are not financially practical.

Overall Nice Trip by cwerneke

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ship is aged, the food was a non-event, the staff and service were excellent. We really enjoyed being able to get off the ship everyday but one. The ports were very nice. RELAXING trip!  Royal Caribbean is really cutting back on the little things that you don't notice until they are gone. The entertainment was not up to what we have experienced in the past. We also talked to some employees that told us about the astronomical fees that they are charged for internet. Come on Royal Caribbean, do you really have to make SO much money off the backs of your workers???

Disappointed for the price we paid but still had a good time by fbe2228

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Embarkation was efficient. Room was clean and room steward was attentive and detail oriented. Windjammer buffet was great for a quick breakfast (enjoyed the waffles with strawberries and whipped cream, omellete/egg stations, etc.), and we liked the Mongolian Wok that was offered in Windjammer for dinner. Food in the main dining room was average but overall was bland for our liking and lacked variety (mashed potatoes or steamed rice were the sides almost every night). Desserts were not as tasty as we've had on other ships/cruise lines. (This dessert chef apparently really likes mousse since it was served every day.) Service and staff in both Windjammer and Sapphire Dining Room were excellent. Nightly entertainment options were lacking and really catered to the Puerto Rican passengers. The flowrider was very fun, entertaining to watch, and was definitely a great addition to the ship. We enjoyed the ports of call and arranged our own excursions on each island using taxis and /or local bus for transportation. Disembarkation was inefficient with only 4 customs agents for 3000+ passengers (give yourself plenty of time!). Given the increased cost for RCI cruises, we feel that other cruise lines provide a better value.
