It was challenging at first but in the end I had a great time

Review summary

I thoroughly enjoyed the cruise, it was unfortunate that Hurricane Maria hit ahead of the cruise. My only disappointment was the disorganization provided about locking on transportation prior to arriving in Puerto Rico. Communication need to be better between Operators answering phones and information going out to the cruisers. This miscommunication was horrible along with the "Beach Break" excursion on St. Lucia. I'm thankful for the hard work of the staff knowing that they were working to relocate victims of Hurricane Maria only a few days before. There was good and bad with this cruise but the bad didn't outweigh the positive of the cruise. I would sail again.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Embarkation was smooth; This cruise embarkation was out of Puerto Rico and we came in one day early to have a window in case anything went wrong. There was some confusion at the airport as far as travel from the airport to the ship. Once we spoke to the representative that was at the airport we were able to have are transportation locked on.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
I had no complaints about any of the dining rooms, restaurants, and buffets. There were a few days that the food wasn't as hot coming out of the kitchen than I would have liked. Our waiters Joel and Anecito were wonderful and very helpful. In the buffet area Nelcia Webb was very attentive along with Jessica Iborra.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
I used the fitness center a lot. I thought for a cruise ship there were too many pieces of equipment not operational. I was able to still get a great work out in but there were key pieces of equipment that I would have like to use.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
I fully enjoyed the Murder Mystery Dinner. All the performers were excellent, the show was very interactive.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The following members of your staff gave outstanding service: Nelcia Webb: Buffet Server Jessica Iborra: Buffet server; Joel and Anecito: Waiters from Sapphire Room; Vaughn Who wasn't my Stateroom attendant made himself available to answer any and all questions or needs that I may have had;

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
After a day or two the layout of the ship was very easy to maneuver.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
My bed was comfortable, I had more than enough space to unpack my items, the shower was always hot ( there was only one day that the drain was very slow in the shower) My stateroom attendant provided excellent service in ensuring the room was clean throughout the day.

Ship tip

The ship was very functional, there was always something to do. I loved the 24 hour café that was available for snacks and tea.

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Unable to enjoy no fault of the Cruise line but due to hurricane Maria.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

just walked around, wasn't thrilled with this port. Didn't like any of the excursions offered for this port.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

Went horseback riding; My desire was to do the ATV's but it was sold out. Enjoyed my day with our guides and the horses, along with the sights. Very easy going guides were attentive and there for all the riders needs.

St. John's, Antigua

Had the opportunity to zip line: Thoroughly enjoyed this excursion. It was physically demanding but very worth the trip and time spent.

Castries, St. Lucia

Went out excursion titled "Beach Break" it was anything but a Beach Break. The locals were soliciting every 5 minutes to purchase items or services. There was a $10.00 charge for beach umbrella that was not in the brochure of this tour. Learned there was very unprofessional behavior by some of the solicitors to members on our tour to the point they left the beach area. Was unable as a group to go into the water at the same time as we warned that the solicitors may go through out bags. Very disappointed. I believe the port was better than I experienced the excursion was horrible. Hate I didn't have enough time to see St. Lucia from another point of view.

Bridgetown, Barbados

Loved this port, I attended the Flavors of Barbados and Island Drive: Our tour guide Rose was Awesome!!!! Five starts for this woman and the driver Peter. Great Tour, can't say enough, I'm ready to go back to this Island. Loved this place!!!!

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Disembarkation was okay, slight struggle when trying to figure out the lines to go through customs. I'm thankful for the free transportation provided by the cruiseline and the workers of Puerto Rico in the mist of all that they have been through. organization could have been better but very thankful for the hardwork by both the cruiseline, police department, and airport staff.
