Nice cruise - but too old by eclavier

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Star Princess / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

The ship is lovely. There is lots to do, and it is in good nick. There is a lot of wasted space. The discoteque was entirely empty every time we went there. This space could have been better used. The library is not great, as it is partly the internet cafe and thus lacks atmosphere and is noisy. The food in the Horizon Court is average and repetitive. It might behoove Princess to add more healthy meat/fish options that do not drip of oil.

Celebrity Century Wine Cruise 9-26-10/7 by mrsnbh

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Century / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

The ship is old and small which we knew. But the cabin we got was the smallest we have ever had on any ship. Hotel manager promptly moved us to a more acceptable cabin. The ship was clean and neat but definitely a little shabby.

The ship was tired. Signs of wear and tear. Food was not up to Celebrity standards. Crew was excellent.

Sailing home cruise! by CarolynBull

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Sapphire Princess / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

We had a lot of fun, but because we know the area pretty well, I can't call it the trip of a lifetime. It was still a good cruise though. It was nice to "sail home" so to speak.

Excellent! by natl7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Westerdam / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

The staff/crew of the Westerdam Holland America Line is top notch first class! They are so friendly and helpful. We loved every moment on this ship. The rooms are spacious and clean. The food in the dining room was not the best but it was decent.

SHORTEST CRUISE--GREATEST EXPERIENCE! by colonystar

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Westerdam / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

I was very unsure of taking this cruise. We had neverbeen on a short cruise before. We have been on the Holland America Line 4X now and each time they get better and better--if that's possible! Their service is outstanding! of course, many of the other Cruise ships have good service, I have to admit--I have probably been on most of them, except Norwegian and Disney. But Holland has the best food and service. THick Lamb Chops that melt in your mouth, the best Lobster, even breakfast is the best! The soups are ALL a mouthful of heaven... But I loved the Dr. that gave you all the information about health, especially mental health! The Stress class was so informative and really does work! The ship was immaculate. it had just come from Tahiti and the passengers just raved about everything. The only thing that was on the downside was the very short stay in Victoria, and the late timing, from 5Pm to 10Pm...but what do you expect for the meager price we paid for the whole cruise! It would cost you more to go out to dinner for 4 nights at a local restaurant! I would recommend any cruise on Holland America--my husband and I have met so many happy people cruising on this line of cruise ships... The craziest thing that happened to us is when we took our daughter with us to Sydney to board the Statendam. When we got on, after checking in, one of the Stewrads who was there to greet the people, looked at my husband and I and said "Welcome aboard Mr. & Mrs...I remember you from the Maasdam in Europe". My daughter was shocked! He knew our name, which is a highly unusual name. These people are so well trained to give you the best service and make you feel as though you are the only ones on board. Thank you, Holland America for another great experience!

PRETTY DARN RELAZING by hbenje

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Westerdam / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

We found this cruise short but extremely relaxing. If you are interested in a quick getaway that will require little or nothing from you -- this is the cruise to go on.

Not impressed by Jaygee

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Sun / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

This was our first cruise on Norwegian. The balcony cabin was the smallest we've seen. The staff was okay. We ate in the specialty restaurants every night. Overall the food was great with one exception. The steaks in all but one restaruant were tough. (Filet Mignon) I mentioned this to the director of hotel and restaurant operations. The port calls were very good. Loved Victoria. The casino needs to be non smoking. It was real bad. Didn't gamble because of this.

Great Ship Poor Service by jim356

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

Embarcation took over 1 1/2 hrs; very slow processing even after we showed up at their recommended time; Did not see the cabin steward until the second day, had to call room service to get ice; Dinning room was extremly slow the first 3 times, finally found a good server; Hot tob was just warm bath water and they have it set that way to save money! Steam sauna is an extra $119, normally it is included in other cruise lines; Many of teh crew had no idea how to answer your question or gace you the wrong answer and you ended up on the wrong end of the ship; Cigeratte smoke came into the Stardust theater. choke! choke! Volumne was also too loud on the crooner and we had to get up and leave. Only good part was the food was some of the best we have had on any cruise line (4 cruise lines and 22 sailings). Room was very nice for a mini suite. Would not use them again due to hot tub/steam shower problems and for the poor service.

Wine Cruise from San Diego to Victoria, British Canada by 7junebug

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Century / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

Terrible, old worn ship, weird engine sounds, dining experience poor, don't order the beef at all. This was a transition cruise (going to Alaska) and is called a transition wine cruise. Tenders assisted the guests onto shore from the ship on two days. Sunday, Santa Barbara and Monday, Monterrey. Fumes bellowed from the many tenders going back and forth from ship to shore. The second day went to main dining room for another boring breakfast. My husband I returned to our room around 10:15. Trying to get ready to leave the ship I started choking from the fumes in my room on deck 5 where the door opens and let passengers on and off. Yes, I could not breath, choking, and throwing up my breakfast and lots of phlegm. Hubby takes me to courtesy desk and I'm holding a wet washcloth to my face to filter the fumes in this area too! Was told to go back to my room and see if another room was available. No, I said I want off this ship now. Oh! We need to send you to the Doctor. O.K.This is a shock and I say your paying for this visit. Yes, one lobe of my right lung was making a rattling sound according to the Very Nice Lady Doctor and was given 3 RX's free of charge. Was sent to a room on 9th floor where I spent the day trying to recover. Ship sent flowers and called to see how I was doing. My Husband got sick on ship the last day and then I got it too! Check out other trips, people came down with a virus and ship could not leave port because of a failed inspection. Lot's of chatter on ship from guests complaining about people getting sick, leaving the ship and dirty conditions where food served. Staff proved to be rude, pushy and uncaring at times. Entertainment was poor. Would rather not go on another Celebrity Cruise again! Been on 6 cruises and no one should go through this experience and pay for it!

Just ok cruise by judithfujita

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Sapphire Princess / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

This ship carried almost 3000 passengers and by doing so lost the personal concern that we all desire from our travel providers. I had a bad experience with the front desk, pre-booked independent reservation that we could not use due to arriving in SanFrancisco 4 hours behind schedule; the desk refused us any on board compensation for the $50 museum exhibition tickets we were out because of the late arrival. The day after arriving home we checked the bridge camera on the Princess website and found that this sailing too they were arriving SF as late as we did. This is false advertising it seems to me when the delay is consistent. We also had an experience with a rude hostess at breakfast in the main dining room, who told us our request for a table for two was not friendly. It is not a ship employee's job to judge the passengers' choices!

Great cruise! by kbpigott

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

Ship was clean and staff friendly. Activities were sufficient for a long cruise. We made good use of the gym facilities. The highlight was the music and entertainment -- best we have ever seen on a ship! The ports were interesting and loads of tours were available. The only negatives were the very disorderly disembarkation process -- needs significant improvement -- and the fact that we picked up a respiratory bug for the second time on Norwegian. Could it be the air filtration equipment? We certainly washed our hands frequently enough!

Outstanding Cruise by GaryH42321642

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Century / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

We sailed the Celebrity Century for the third time and inspite of it's age it is still a marvelous ship. We knew the ship had been refurbished and stretched to make it larger, but we had no idea what to expect. New restaurants, new pool area and a renewed Michael's Club made this cruise feel like we were on a brand new ship. We love Celebrity's upscale style, service, and innovative ships. The Captain and his crew were perhaps the best we have ever encountered. The service the dining room staff delivered was superb. We loved all the nightlife option plus the shows and special entertainment were great. The show featuring the crew was the absolute best we have ever seen. Truly some very talented performers to include a juggler that is worthy of a Las Vegas show. The Martini Bar remains a favorite and is unique to Celebrity. The renovated ship features are readily apparent throught out the ship. Our stateroom was quite cozy and had the largest outside window we have ever seen on a ship. Overall we have to say the ship was very impressive. The crew was wonderful, very attentive and went out of their way to make this a most memorable cruises.

very enjoyable by DianeM1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Statendam / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

We were very pleased with the service and the food was exceptional. Accommodations were acceptable for what we paid. We enjoyed the shows and meeting new people. We did feel however that day time activities were not that enticing for us. Overall, we were very impressed with our first cruise experience and thought the boat was beautiful.

Crazy experience by NicoleC5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Spirit / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

The loading experience was the worst ever. It took hours to even get onboard. We were stuck in a line. Then to get off the ship we had the same problem. We were supposed to arrive at 8AM and did not get off the ship until almost noon. We kept asking for assistance and were blown off. The ship itself was nice, but the help we recieved when we asked questions as we tried to get on and off the ship was horrible. We complained to numerous people, we got many different answers so feel we were lied to. It ruined the trip. Others at out table and who were in line with us all discussed how poorly run it was.
