Avalon delivers a consistent elegant experience with top notch service and food. Cruise directors need to be a bit more "gentle" to customers rather than try to control our experiences. Our previous cruise director a few years ago on our "Romantic Reine" trip was exactly the right person for the job. Accommodating and empathetic to our needs while being able to turn on a dime when ever there was a glitch in the itinerary.

We cannot say enough about our cruise director and the entire staff of the AmaVerde. By the end of our week we felt like we were leaving good friends.

Viking did an outstanding job to make this such a memorable trip. We did have an issue with some running water sounds and were moved to a different state room after our 2nd night. The food was outstanding from breakfast to dinner, along with the coffee and snack bar available all the time. The service was wonderful, attentive, and very proficient. Our room steward, Vesselin was great and Risty (in the main dining room) our server extraordinaire, who asked us our names the very first day and remembered for 2 weeks was superb. The ports along the Danube and Rhine, especially this time of year, with the Christmas Markets, food, gluwhein, souvenirs and decorations galore, made this trip even better. We also experienced some snow along the way, which only added to the ambiance of this lifetime memorable cruise.

It was a great trip! Beautiful views, food, service, and sights!! We will definitely schedule another river cruise with Avalon!!

I was so very disappointed that a excursion to what I have planned my whole trip around was canceled.we were to go to the Neushwanstien castle.Not sure why it was canceled but it was. Very disappointing!

Usually love the big ships, but really love this Viking cruise and will do it again. Very relaxing.

We were debating between the Lyon-Provence and Bordeaux Viking River Cruises. While there is probably more to do/sights to see in Provence we ended up choosing Bordeaux to see a new area of France (since I'd already been to Provence) and for our love of wine. Viking goes above and beyond in terms of service!

was a wonderful trip for the cost. we met some great people. the bar was fantastic. i was expecting more of the food. that was disappointing.

We had no water level issues and all excursions occurred. The cruise director was excellent and entertaining.

This was our first river cruise but I don't think it will be our last. Everything was super easy and relaxing, felt more like custom/boutique travel than what you get with a large ocean cruise.

It was a trip of a lifetime and highly recommend the Viking Modi. The cruise director Elena was marvelous and did a great job keeping us entertained.

Our Cruise Manager, Henry was outstanding! He was there every step of the way and available to assist in any way possible. Henry was perfect and, a great asset to AMA! We have been on large ship cruises in the past but enjoy river cruising much more because it is just more intimate and enjoyable with fewer people! You feel like you are getting greater attention from everyone (wait staff, front desk, Captain, etc.! Additionally, the small tour groups in each port is an excellent way to learn about the history. All of our tour guides were very informative and knowledgeable! Also, kudos to Captain Jack (not correct spelling) as he was very personable and visible! Receiving a post card thanking us for traveling on the AmaMora was a nice touch!

If someone wants to flavor the Swiss chocolate, the German strudel, the French escargot, the Pays Bass stroopwafels, enjoy the view of the castles from the ship, visit the marvelous medieval cathedrals, eat good food (drinks are a personal option), this is the cruise to enjoy.

If we were to do another River cruise, without a doubt we would go with Ama Waterways, we had a wonderful experience. Service, cleanliness, food....outstanding.

All was excellent except for dinner meals which were not a 5-star. Highlights of cruise should include excellent dinners. In no way was this so. Very disappointing…May or may not cruise w/Viking again.

it is the type over cursing that we love, meeting new people for breakfast, lunch and dinner, that is hard to do in an ocean cruise. It seems even on the tours we know someone that we had met at dinner. We will cruise again, but probably not for a few years.

Nothing could have made this trip any better. Viking has thought of everything!

I'm glad I did a river cruise, don't know I'd go again. If you are someone who likes to see and do a lot, like us, I would rather rent a car and stay in one place and be able to eat when I want, not be time pressured to get on the boat. Additional excursions were $$$. But if you want everything done for you and mot want to think about transportation, etc. the cruise is a good option.

I wanted to love this cruise but it was just fair. There was not enough to do and the food could have been better. The staff was great and that was a plus.
