Ship could use better food. by bonniecalderone

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Food was not that good, help was not trained on the ship. Our balcony cabin was small. Smoking section was too many steps to get to. Casino was small and could not smoke in there. Kind of disappointed in overall cruise ship. The ports we stopped at were good but almost could not walk into towns on most ports.

Good but needs some work especially with technology by csthomas4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Regal Princess / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

The cruise itself was good overall. However, the tech issues in registering and onboard were very disappointing. Princess needs to fine-tune and/or upgrade some aspects of their technology infrastructure in order to deliver on the customer experience. The following is a summary of the issues: 1) I previously cruised on Princess in 2002 and as a result was in the system under Christopher Thomas. The registration for the cruise I just completed was booked under Chris Thomas. As a result, the website and app would not allow me to link the account to the upcoming cruise using the booking number. And it would not allow me to create a new account under Chris Thomas since my contact information matched an existing account. 2) I called customer service a couple of weeks prior to the sailing and the tech department agent informed me that there were widespread issues with the app system and to try to register again in 24-48 hours. They recommended that I call back if it didn’t work in the next few days. 3) I called a week later, and the tech department agent identified the problem with different first names on the existing account and reservation (Christopher vs. Chris). She tried several times to fix the problem but with no luck. She then manually entered all of the information for my party. There seemed to be lots of issues with how the system was set up and designed and I had to provide the same information (names, ages, passport numbers, etc.) multiple times. This took an hour and a half to complete. The representative was excellent and did her best to help. She set up a ticket for someone else on the tech team to fix the name issue and said they would call. 4) The only call back I received was a message few days later informing me that I hadn’t registered my information and that this was mandatory before the sailing. I called in and was informed that everything had been entered and I was good to go. 5) When I spoke with the tech agent who registered the information manually, I asked about COVID testing and was told I needed to do this with two days of sailing and to try to do so just before we got on the plane. My family and I went out of our way to get tests on the day of our departure only to learn when we arrived at the port, that the tests had to be within 24 hours and as a result we had to take another test before boarding. It wasn’t so much the issue of having to take the test before boarding but the time and effort that was wasted on the day of departure. 6) When we completed check-in and boarded the boat, we found out our rooms had been moved. Because we have young children, we had booked rooms across the hall from each other. In fact, this was one of the main reasons we booked this particular cruise. Instead our rooms were five decks apart on different locations of the boat. We stood in line for more than an hour and then worked with a customer service agent who was rude and at one point when my wife was asking about how the WIFI worked told her to stop talking or she wasn’t going to be able to try to fix the issue. Despite the boat being less than half full, the best solution the customer service rep could find was rooms that were two decks apart but supposedly on the same side. When we went to the rooms, they weren’t on the same side of the boat. My wife waited in line again and a different agent was very helpful and was able to move one of the rooms next-door to the other one. 7) The only issue with changing rooms were the medallions, which the system struggled to change. We had to go to customer service and then the other three prior rooms multiple times to try/reset the medallions before they finally worked. Some of the medallions stopped working and we had to go to customer service and then to the other rooms yet again. Customer service was finally able to four of the medallions to work on both rooms but we finally gave up on getting the other two to work. We spent a lot of time during the first few days working with customer service to trouble shoot the issue. 8) When I asked the tech agent who registered us about fixing the Chris vs Christopher issue, so the app would work. She said someone should get back to me, but if they didn’t the ships have different networks and I shouldn’t have a problem once I was onboard. Unfortunately, onboard the app still didn’t allow me to link to the cruise. I went to customer service once and they were not able to address the issue. I ended up giving up after that and unfortunately wasn’t able to use the features of the app, including ordering drinks. We recognize that the cruise industry is fortunately coming back and in the process there are lots of bugs and issues. At the same time, it is imperative that steps are taken to address these, especially since technology is an integral part of a new flagship medallion program. Otherwise, the customer experience suffers and it’s difficult for us and others who experience these problems to recommend and/or justify cruising with Princess.

Southern European Cruise by molardocs

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

We loved every port and learned a lot, especially Kusadasi/Ephasus. While at sea, the entertainment and food was excellent. My only request was to have more trivia games at sea and not when at port as we missed a few while on an excursion.

Stinky Bathrooms, avoid the Jade by jjz109jaj

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

A loyal Norwegian customer, completely dis-satisfied with the sinky cabins, (same smell in other cabins we visited). No water (J-traps) under the bathroom sinks, thus a constant sewer smell. Norwegian has reduced the Lattitudes awards by taking away the perks, no more 60 minutes free internet (they want you to buy it) no wine or champagne in room, no Lattitudes party, and they have changed the method of computing your shore excursion discount which screws a couple out of $7.50 per shore excursion. Clearly Norwegian is being run by folk interested only in getting your money. By the way, when asking a question at the Guest Services desk, you have only a 20-30 percent chance of getting a correct answer. They lied and made up excuses about everything. If you sail with them, do your own math and check you bill daily. Some shore excursion staff don't know the difference between 15 cents and 15 percent. After 22 cruises on Norwegian, this was our last. Holland and Celebrity treat you a lot better and are trustworthy.

Fun time in Portugal, Spain, and France by tjcosta1230

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Riviera / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Overall, loved this cruise. Ports of call were fun - just never enough time to do everything. Very nice having the shuttle buses available to take us into town. A couple of minor points - the safe in the room was too high up and was difficult for short people and at one of the port stops the shuttle bus changed its pickup location but never told anyone - I thought we were going to be stuck in Marseille.

what a disappointment by Disillusioned

Never again, Virgin Voyages. Three weeks of my life I will never get back. 12 days on the cruise and another 10 days off work recovering from CV-19. I have never been so pleased to see the UK at the end of a holiday as I was on 01.04.2022

Wonderful Getaway from Cold Wet Germany by 2croozers

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Grandiosa / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Staff were so helpful with rebooking tours that got cancelled. The ship holds over 6,000 passengers and there were less than 1,000 passengers on board so there was no waiting for anything.

Don't do MSC by Bluesmom90

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Grandiosa / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The customer service just kills it. Beautiful ship, good specialty restaurants so nice. But then every single thing that you buy you have to double check and ask for and prove you bought it or fight with them to have it. Any person whose job is guest interaction is awful. Cruising on Carnival I never had questions I never had to beg for a tour of the spa when I booked a spa cabin. It's always been communicated to me right away all my benefits to make sure that I use them. I felt like any reception or services could care less about your experience because you already paid. I don't need heart to heart conversations just basic respect. MSC was quite frankly awful. You'll be standing right in front of spa reception trying to book appointments and they just don't acknowledge you. You can't have a bad time on a cruise ship but MSC really drove home the point that they do not care about you as a customer. Do another brand.

NEVER AGAIN WITH MSC by Freedom78

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Grandiosa / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Hi everyone, I just disembarked from the MSC Grandiosa and it was a real NIGHTMARE! There was a COVID emergency that was handled VERY BADLY by the staff. The passengers were left alone, the reception did not answer the phone for hours, the essential services were almost completely absent and the staff of a rudeness never seen in 20 years of cruises ! In addition, most of the shows and excursions were canceled and several onboard attractions were also inaccessible. Despite all this, the prices were tremendously high, I personally spent 3000 Euros for a cabin with a balcony, without considering that even the water is extra 3.30 Euros for a small bottle ! NEVER, EVER AGAIN WITH MSC !!!

upsetting, unexpected and enjoyable by jacannon66

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Fantasia / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Like I said the cruise line did not communicate the need for a pre-cruise COVID test; thank god we decided to go to the ship early. Also, they never sent any notice that the cruise would not allow you to leave the ship at any port without buying an excursion. Honestly I think they should have offered something in return for this lack of experience or let you know and allow for a cancellation even if it was a credit for a future trip.

Covid restrictions unpleasant by scottwentworth

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Grandiosa / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The boat and staff were lovely, we ended up taking 3 e bike tours with Raj. A first class guy who single handedly turned our experience better. It is completely unacceptable that MSC, which has every piece of our contact information, not to contact us not to let us know we were unable to disembark without a chaperone.
