NCL-Stands for No Customer Love by SandraB10

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Our problems were all related to customer service from NCL. They tell you your problems are handled and then when you get aboard you find out they are not. We paid for an outside cabin and were given one with an obstructed view which would have been much cheaper. They told us too bad they couldn't move us because the ship was full. We also did not get credit. They take the position that you have to go to your agent knowing that you are 6,000 miles away and can do nothing. We tried to get a written response from them before the cruise but they did not answer our letters or e-mail.

Less than expected by GeorgeC2

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Musica / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Food was dissapointing for an Italian Cruise Line. Maitre D. asked us about our chicken marsala meal and when we told him that there didn't seem to be any marsala in it his excuse was that it was difficult to make marsal for 3,000 people. If true then you shuld call it something else! Food overall was just average.

good cruise, but some issues by KarolF

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Concordia (RETIRED) 548 / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

we went on western mediterranean cruise, the best part is the value, my worst complaint is the bill, they round it up, if they charge another .47 cents for all guests, it is pretty good extra profit! another issue is the packed boat, crouded buffet, noisy hall, bathroom smell, and some rude (not all) staff, ex: I was quicked out of the spa garden, staff told me is for floor guests only, she reminded me: people pay for it!!!, yet through the door I came in it did not have any signs posted, I complained about loud doors (it shook my bed when I was laying) they never fixed it!

Trip of a lifetime! by ChrisM17

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Legend of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

My teen-age daughters & I went on our first cruise to the Mediterrean. Royal Caribbean was amazing. The entire staff were fantastic (we even cried when we had to say good-bye to our amazing waiter Amnut!). The food was excellent, such variety morning, noon & night. The excursions were well-worth taking...educational, fun & good value for your dollar. Over-all we were made to feel like ROYALTY!!! And isn't that what travelling is all about? Can't wait to go back. Wouldn't even consider any other cruise line. Thank-you Royal Caribbean.

rude front of the house staff by KarolF

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Concordia (RETIRED) 548 / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

overall cruise was a good value, but my neighbors would shut the door and my bed would shake, I called front desk to report noise, they cut me short and problem never got it fixed, bathroom smelled, requested more cleaning (also never got solved), costa cruise dining can be too much pizza, they call afternoon tea (pizza included), I visited the garden/zen room and they told me that it was reserved for guests on the 12nd floor, staff told me: they pay for it!!! yet from the door I entered there was no sign posted for "special guest" rude, rude staff!

Fabulous Mediterranean Cruise by MaureenW3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The Jewel is a newer ship (2005), well decorated and fun. The freestyle cruisng is not for eveyone, but it suited us well. We liked the idea of not having to rush back from an excursion to make it in time for dinner. They do have dressup days if you want to dress formal, but it is optional. Freestyle doesn't afford you that chance of getting to know your tablemates because you show up whenever and dine alone...however, we happened to get to know a few other passengers that happened to be on many of the same excursions with us, so we became acquainted, made dinner reservations a couple of nights together and ended up exchanging email addresses.

holland america by JudyB17

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Westerdam / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Been on several cruises before this. Expected an upscale cruise experience but was disappointed, mainly in the food, just basic "eats". Staff unfriendly and even rude at times. I was even told to "Get it myself" If you want to be catered to this is not the cruise for you. The one shining star was "Tony" who was very friendly and did a very good job as our cabin steward. Limited hours of operation of main dining room.

"Very organized, Friendly staff" by sheilaT48744400

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

This was my first cruise, it was more than I expected. The staff was very friendly and worked very hard to please us. The ship was very organized with getting your luggage to and from your room, delivering daily newsletters regarding activities, making announcements and answering questions. The ship was decorated beautifully with modern accomidations.

Learn Abour Italian Culture by JacquelineM1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Costa Concordia (RETIRED) 548 / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

My family and I have recently taken a cruise for 7-nights to the Med. My family had enjoyed it but because we were American on an Italian cruise it was difficult for my children to meet young teens. The entertainment shows sometimes had english translations, but were mainly in Italian. The cruise was amazing, the itinerary was wonderful although you had practically no time in Barcelona. There were also alot of people over 3,000 people onboard which made getting buffet breakfast and lunch time consuming. The ship was small compared to the amount of people on board. But the stateroom was clean and very open and confortable, but we did find that the ac sometimes provided no help to hot nights. The gym, which we used often was packed but a very impressive gym, and again it was hot, and ac provided little help to the heat. I would recommed the cruise if you would like to learn more about different cultures. But as an American and a English speaking guest onboard, and my 10th cruise. I was not pleased with it as much as much I was with for example Celebrity Cruises.

A horrible cruise! by FrancesM7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Orchestra / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Overall, the entertainment was great - however, the food was not the quality expected. There were no vegetarian selections- and the options when made were limited. The gym was limited and small - not easy to get to . There were not enough places to sit by the pool - waiting at best 30 minutes or more for a seat. Service in English was limited - and there was no English representative to help with concerns. Adult only areas were not respected as Adult only - and the small pools were filled with children. There was so many things wrong with this cruise to list. Needless to say - if this review helps save one person's vacation then all this heart ache was worth it!

MSC Musica- a huge disappointment!! by ScottG5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Orchestra / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The last thing we expected or wanted was stress and and aggravation along with our risotto, but that's what we received. The customer service on board with the tour desk and accounting departments in particular, is atrocious, as is the customer service back home when we tried to get refunds for tours MSC and I cancelled. I've taken six cruises and have never complained before, but MSC's arrogance and poor customer service has motivated me to say something.

The best and most relaxing week I've had by JosephineC

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Sinfonia / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

I might as well be honest here. Upon first seeing the ship, I was rather disappointed. Previously, I had sailed Royal Caribbean and everyone who has sailed with them knows the showiness of their line. However, the Sinfonia is simply elegant. While slightly understated, it's easy to find yourself marveling at the beauty of the ship. There truly is only one con about the ship: it's hard to navigate. 4 banks of elevators all go to different floors, so it's easy to get on the wrong one and end up getting lost. There's no way to lie either: MSC embodies their "Beautiful, Passionate, Italian" tagline. Never before have I seen such a beautiful crew....

Cruising the Western Med by ChrisH17

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

This was my fifth cruise (four on Carnival and one on Holland America for a Baltic cruise). This was the best cruise so far for our family. The ship is brand new and the staff was excellent. I enjoyed the shows which is not the norm for me on cruises. I also found that in past cruises that the food was just okay with a few really good meals. On this cruise however, we had great food . The extra effort put in by the crew was truly noticeable. I did not hear any passengers complaining. I did hear several of them giving compliments about the food and crew, which is very different from what I heard passengers say on my past cruises.

the honeymoon from hell by LindsayB3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Sea Princess / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The ship from the outside looked magnificent. The staff on board was not helpful or knowledgeable about majority of things. the rooms were small ( on the interior) if you make a queen size bed don't expect any moving room. there was little places to sit outside. The ship stunk of smoke ( by both the passengers and the crew) The ship was clearly outdated. The ship broke and they cancelled the cruise so we didn't get a honeymoon and our response from Princess was well you get $400 off another one and they just waned us off the ship. No consern for the passengers ruined holiday

CRUISE DISAPPOINTMENT by GeraldA1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

We sailed on Carnival Freedom on May 25, 2007. This was our35th cruise and it was one of the worst. The drawing in the ship's shops were always when we were at dinner & you had to be present to win. We had the first seating. The tours were as usual, overpriced. The tours that we took were not very co-ordinated. Everybody should keep their same seat in the bus at all times. Also the first row on each side of the bus should be reserved for people with walking difficulties. The worst tour was the motor launch in Venice. It was overbooked with people standing all over the place. That made very difficult to see let alone take pictures. There should have been seats reserved for people with walking difficulties. If anybody wants to talk to mee about this cruise my email address is FLYINGSAILOR5473@YAHOO.COM
