Just okay by garygleck

Ship: Koningsdam

The cruise was overall just okay. Ensenada was not of any interest, Catalina was quite boring. San Francisco and it's environs, save for Sausalito, was a delight. Ship was clean and easy to get around. Not very crowded. Room stewards were excellent. Cabin was plagued by inexplicable creaking that required our moving to another cabin in less desirable location. It took over 12 hours for the problem to be addressed. Also, our Pinnacle reservation was messed up despite being prepaid. Took an hour to rectify.

Okay in every way by trish9048848

We have been on about 25 cruises on various cruise lines. We would rank Princess in the middle of the pack. Unfortunately, the food on this trip was very disappointing. We signed up for Premium Plus with unlimited specialty restaurants and we were very unimpressed in general. The Catch and the Alfredos were the exceptions. We had consistent good food there and the service was good as well. The Crowne's food was very mediocre, and Harmony tasted like fast food Chinese to us. Honestly, if we would have tried the restaurants before buying the package we wouldn't have bought the package. The ship is very pretty and clean. The layout is very compartmentalized, and many spaces are small (e.g. public bathrooms, hallways, staircases, etc.). We would have liked the buffet to be more of an open floor plan, so you could see all the choices at once, instead of walking up and down different hallways.

Calming with pros and cons by trianglerainbow

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Majestic Princess

Getting on the boat was fast. The food was good. The evening entertainment was mostly good. The daily entertainment was lack luster. The daily things to do was lack luster. The balcony room was good. The internet was fast but pricey. We only signed up for the last three at sea days since the three us ports allowed cell tower use. Some live television in the room and free on demand movies. Noticeable lack of children on the boat. Noticeable large numbers of seniors on board. Leaving the boat was great. Bags taken directly to the airport from our room and plane boarding passes in our hand in the room.

West Coast Cruise by suztucker

We enjoyed the cruise but prefer the 7- day west coast trip. For us, 11 days with 7 days at sea was too many days on the ship, especially with not finding many activities we were interested in.

West Coast Cruise by fr8god1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Discovery Princess

I had high expectations after my last Princess Cruise from L.A. to Sydney and an identical ship. I've outlined the differences above. It also seems as if Princess is looking for petty pricing increases onboard. Receiving a menu with surcharges is inappropriate for the regular dining or the specialty dining. You purchase a package to prepay the experience. I can only assume the plan is to sell the Premier vs. Plus, by making show seating difficult if the cruise is full. Charges for The Sanctuary that you can't access? Last year it was free and first-come-first serve.

Wonderful West Coast Cruise by ohstolen

As usual Thomas Hauser steered us in the right direction with our room selection and packages we purchased. It’s nice to be able to deal with someone as knowledgeable as Thomas to get things lined up right. It was a great cruise on a great ship.

Never taking a Celebrity Cruise again by doux

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Celebrity Summit

Dining: Although we had early dining and had confirmed table (card was in our stateroom) we were booted within 2 hours of dinner and placed on anytime dining. With 2 small children in tow, this absolutely reprehensible. On top of that our waiter wasn’t friendly at all, we tried to greet him cheerily and he would just hand the menu and walk away. He had the capacity, he greeted his fellow ethnic breather quite courteously. Friendliness: Majority of cruise staff was not friendly and unhelpful, when asking where an food item was at the buffet or where a café was, we were informed “somewhere over there maybe” is it not their job to at least try and guide you in the right direction? Rarely anyone greeted us or anyone for that matter Le Petit Chef: we made extra for the specialty dining at Qsine, from the description we were beyond excited, when I tell you that menu was indescribably lackluster, we were utterly disappointed. We start of with a burrata that was served during lunch earlier in the day. Next we get a seafood stew that was lukewarm at best with overcooked shellfish that was rubbery. The lobster was passible but not filling, then we ended the night with a scoop of ice cream. We paid extra for specialty dining but ended up with buffet food that wasn’t even executed well. When discussing this with the maître d Mr. B, his response was, well that’s what you signed up for! What kind of attitude is that? You all keep asking for feedback and to give you a 10, but with that service? Absolutely not! Sharps container: this is absolutely laughable; our group member was provided a container for her fertility injections and no further instructions. They wait until 9AM of the last day of the cruise to inform they needed to collect said container. Port time was 7AM, we literally all left with our luggage. Inform someone when right when you provide them the container, don’t reprimand someone for not being fully informed of the protocol. Kid friendly: your ship is absolutely not kid friendly, the lack of activities with proper supervision and instruction is appalling. I went on Royal Caribbean last year and it was like night and day. Missed port: bad weather happens and there’s nothing we can do about it but find a way to entertain your paid guests. Alternatively, try to find another port to settle in or, if that is not an option, set up additional activities for us. The cavalier attitude was so unnerving. I never want to go on a Celebrity cruise ever again.

Most Amazing Princess Experience/Upgraded to Mini Suite by waherron2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Discovery Princess

We had the most amazing trip. Discovery Princess is a beautiful vessel. Princess has amazing customer service. So good with keeping everyone informed. Love the convenience of using the Medallion RFID's for everything. Their app is very convenient and useful while on board. We upgraded to a Mini Suite. Highly recommend. Exceptional value. Cruise was about 70% Canadians. Very fun group, and polite. Everyone kept saying "sorry." I cannot stress how great the staff was. We had the best cabin steward ever on a cruise. His name is Darwin. The Cruise Director and Associate Cruise Directors were everywhere. High energy. Helping people. On stage and every corner on the ship. They were amazing. I have never been on virtually a brand new boat before. It was great. First time on Princess. We will be back. Maybe next time on the new Sun Princess? :fingerscrossed:

Mediocre cruise by jpoqal

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess

For the cost of execursions offered, the should have better tours. It was not our first time to visit the Pacific Northwest so we knew what we should be doing and expecting on the tours offered. It was a shame that the tours were cut short even though the princess staff kept announcing this would not happen as it was under princess contract to let us have the whole time. We also did spa treatments of acupuncture which was paid for in advance, then they charged us and said it was different from the cruise ship. They also charged $45 to flip on a red light which they did not tell us about and put a gratuity on that charge of 8.00! Outrageous! Always check your bill as mistakes happen with everyone having medallions that read everywhere you go.

Would have been nice if… by gtwalker448

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas

It would have been nice to have been able to visit the ports we were suppose to go to. We spent 4 days at sea due to engine troubles on the ship so they had to bypass all, ports and go very slowly to Vancouver. We had a relative driving 5 hours to meet us at Astoria. By the time we found out we weren’t going to make any port stops they had already driven over 3 hours when we were able to get a hold of them. The y did refund 50% of our cruise fare which was good however I do feel that since spent 4 days at sea and not getting off once from embarkation to disembarkation a better solution would have been to give us either a full refund or 100% credit towards a future cruise. This is the first time in all my sailings I have been somewhat disappointed with ROYAL CARIBBEAN.

Disappointing from Start to Finish by msebg

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas

We have cruised with RC more than 20 times and this was the worst cruise experience we ever had. Due to mechanical problems on the first night of sailing, we missed all of our ports and sailed very slowly up the coast to Vancouver for four days. Luckily, the seas were calm, but that was the only calm thing about this cruise. There was alot of misinformation, little sympathy given by the crew, and just a major disappointment all the way around. With over 150 Back to Back Cruisers expecting to go on the next cruise to Alaska, RC could have been more upfront with their communication. They chose to let us all reboard for the next cruise and then sent an email 2 hours later stating we would not be allowed off the ship for 4 more days even though we would just be floating in the harbor of Vancouver. That's 9 sea days total before getting to a port! Ridiculous.
