Review summary

We had the most amazing trip. Discovery Princess is a beautiful vessel. Princess has amazing customer service. So good with keeping everyone informed. Love the convenience of using the Medallion RFID's for everything. Their app is very convenient and useful while on board. We upgraded to a Mini Suite. Highly recommend. Exceptional value. Cruise was about 70% Canadians. Very fun group, and polite. Everyone kept saying "sorry." I cannot stress how great the staff was. We had the best cabin steward ever on a cruise. His name is Darwin. The Cruise Director and Associate Cruise Directors were everywhere. High energy. Helping people. On stage and every corner on the ship. They were amazing. I have never been on virtually a brand new boat before. It was great. First time on Princess. We will be back. Maybe next time on the new Sun Princess? :fingerscrossed:

Princess is very well organized, and it was such an easy boarding with our pre-check in online and medallions. Used the porter for luggage. So easy.

Food and Dining

Food quality was great! Buffet quite good, dining rooms were excellent. Their creative and specialty dining venues were a great treat and worth their upgrade costs. Drink quality was top notch. Good wines and liquor selections. Reasonable pours.

Onboard Activities

High spirited staff leading fun activities. Princess is an older crowd. Lots of empty nesters and retirees. So things are more geared to the over 40 crowd. Not a young party cruise.

Entertainment

Very high quality entertainment. Everything was exceptional and enjoyable. Their venues are beautiful and clean. Just wished they offered rink service in their big theater.

It's a new ship and they have their A+ crews working it. Everyone wanted to be there and make you feel welcome.

Was the newest Princess hip when I booked. Now one newer. It's a beautiful ship in great condition. Pristine clean. Very pleased.

Cabin / Stateroom

We upgraded to a Mini Suite when we won our Upgrade Bid. Absolutely loved it. So amazing. Loved the balcony, larger living area and bathroom/closet areas. Highly recommend a mini suite on the Discovery.

Ship tip

The Fitness Center is fantastic. Better than my gym at home. New Precor equipment. Was able to sign right into my profile from home. Ketchikan Dining Room is in an odd location. Cannot access it from the deck it's on. You have to go to the very last elevator bank or stairs and go down to it.

Princess has one of the most organized and well run disembarkations. Also, the cruise port in Vancouver was well set up for getting your bags and leaving the terminal. The customs in Canada was super easy for a Yank. The City is right there at your doorstep. Wish it always worked so well!
