Decent Alaskan Cruise by Romm

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Bliss

I am a little torn of the whole cruise. The food was "okay" and not really, really great like people talk about. This was probably because I was really looking forward to the Q and it was a bad experience of food. The Teppinaki (sp) was VERY fun and the best food on the entire cruise!!

Baking in Alaska by BobFROMaustin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Bliss

My cruise met expectations. The port times were too short unfortunately. Entertainment was great but food could have been slightly better. Had a great time.

Great cruise! It's what we expected as far as how Norwegian runs their program. The trip was awesome and definitely a bucket list item!

I have enjoyed this cruise, my first exposure to Alaska and while the ship is a bit older and the activities subdue and sometimes feels non-existent still it can be fun and you can make the best of it.The staff in the ship were really nice

Great trip - mediocre food by yomaryjo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Sun

Great time but need to add more standard restaurants - Chinese with no charge and Pub type with fish and chips. Buffet food was flavorless.

Alaska is STUNNING by RobynFry

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Sun

Alaska is not to be missed. I highly recommend finding some way to get there. However, I will not travel on such an old NCL ship again. The smells, the tight room, the inadequate bathroom, the lack of entertainment options, the sad buffet - not again. Thanks.

A beautiful cruise by jsantangelo0217

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Solstice

The cruise was nice. We enjoyed all aspects of the cruise. The food was a little bland. Desserts were dry. The crew & guests were all nice. My husband and I did end up contracting covid towards the end of our trip.

Terrible Cruise by steve44griffin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Radiance of the Seas

So I thought things went pretty well until we hit a terrible storm with heavy seas the last night. Everyone got seasick including myself. Terrible banging noises during the night. I got no sleep. Disembarkation was two to three hours late and was very disorganized. Every man for himself as most passengers were missing flights, etc. I have cruised twice. Both experiences were horrendous. I will never cruise again nor would I suggest anyone else do likewise. I think some form of reimbursement might be a good idea. The staff was great.

Great Alaska Cruise by debra1257

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas

We did the ship/ land tour. Our ship experience was good. Room location was perfect for us. Elevator waits were not long but took stairs when we only changed by a few floors. Food was good, being able to adjust sides and get extra when we wanted it in dining room worked great.

Had a great time. by lostlegacy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium

Before leaving, put trackers in all your suitcases. Both the airline and cruise will be handling your bags. While your bags might not get lost, there's a good chance they could go missing. The cruise couldn't find my bag. Luckily, a tracker made things easy. It was dropped off at the wrong room. Having trackers can save you from a headache. It is best to arrive the day before the cruise date. Take the train to Seward. The bus is cheaper but you will be missing the experience of the scenic train. The train can go places the bus cannot. There is also a tour guide, food, drinks, bar on the train. In Juneau, whale watching is recommended. You are guaranteed to see whales.. swimming, jumping, etc.. Get the combo with glacier tour included. Also, eat at Tracy's Crabs if you like crab legs. This is the best place to eat red Alaskan Crabs on the whole cruise. The cruise bus will drop you off right in front. Unfortunately, doing excursions leaves little time for the seeing the town. Eat fast, but enjoy! When booking excursions, you can usually find the excursion companies begging for your business when you get off the ship. These are likely cheaper than going through the cruise company ahead of time. Tip: If you are pressed for time, it might be best to book through the cruise to ensure you make it back in time. In most cases, you should be fine, but there's always a chance. The cruise ship itself is nice. It's smaller than other ships but great for this type of cruise. There are plenty of activities on board to keep you occupied. Most of the passengers seemed retirement age. I wish they had more dancing music for that age group. Most of the music was Motown or newer. I do recommend evening dining in the main dining hall. You will get the best service and also gourmet meals. Save the buffets for breakfast, lunch, or snacking. Drinks on board can cost $5 soda, $10 mix drink, $17 martini. Im not sure you need the drink packages. You won't be on the ship much. Plus the free buffet has free juices, teas, hot chocolate, etc.. Additionally, it's a bit cooler on this cruise than the Caribbean for example. You will not be as thirsty. Pay as you go might be worth it. On this cruise, I recommend also getting reservations for an 8:30 dining slot. Late dining will allow you to go to the 7pm show beforehand. It is less crowded. Also, it will allow you to enjoy your shore excursions without rushing to get back for the early dining. It's stress free. On this ship, there are many raffles and activities. Take advantage of them. The cruise likes to give away prizes. Some are really good, including a free cruise (the game deal or no deal). They also gave away almost $1,000 between 3 games of bingo. There is a casino on board. However, don't expect the odds to be in your favor. The casino rules are different and favor the house more than other casinos. There are very few kids on board so you don't have to worry about them running around. You will have a great time. I hope these recommendations help.

Cruise was great because Alaska is so beautiful. Love the ship and the crowds were minimal. Food was good but not great on the ship, staff was lovely and room was fabulous because of the deck!
