The port city is not good, but we took a taxi to Puerto Varas (15 km) and spent our time there, The town is very nice, it has beautiful view of the mountains and the lake. We had excellent weather and enjoyed the food and shopping.

We did the excursion to the Alerce forest and the German museum which were both interesting but we were a bit rushed visiting the museum and had a very short time in Puerto Varas. Our guide was terrific but the tour should be a bit longer to cover all we did. We had enough time in the port - the tour left 4 hours after we arrived- so I think it should start earlier and be a 5 hour tour, not 4. Also since everyone got back just in time for the last tender, we waited nearly an hour in an excruciatingly long line!

We were on the OCeania Osorno Volcano Petrohue falls excursion. Great sightseeing along the way. Volcano and falls were very picturesque and beautiful.

Scenery was beautiful. Stagger return times of tours or coordinate better with local authorities to avoid re-boarding mess.

We took the bus trip to the Portahue falls. It was lovely. We wanted to see the lakes and get close to the mountains. Then we had lunch in a small town (cannot remember the name.) Very nice day.

Almost didnʻt go ashore, but decided at the last minute to join an excursion to Petrohue Falls and volcano district. Excellent decision. Our guide was an American who has been living in Puerto Varas for over two decades, and he was an excellent storyteller.
