We visited a few shops near the port, were advised the city itself had a high crime rate, especially theft.

Very run down port. Pushy vendors. Don't bother getting off the ship unless you need a tshirt or magnet or other souvenirs. Unless you have an excursion.

We took an excursion (boat tour on Gatun Lake)... the bus tour was interesting - long... but, the boat tour good. The guides need to be more attentive to those that need help getting in & out of the boats.

Tour we took was too long and kind of boring. At the museum in Old Town our guides told us to go on our own, while other tour guides were explains and giving history of the exhibits.

We did the Indian/Eco/canal tour. It was the most expensive excursion. It was an absolute waste of money. The Indian village we saw seemed like a set up. The expectation was to see a real village and there was no way this was a real village. The whole thing was a waste of money. The description said we would go down a river and see lots of fauna and animals. We went on a lake and saw a couple of monkeys and sloth so far away you couldn't really be sure what you were seeing. The whole thing was so bad. It should be taken off the excursion list. The port itself was disappointing. The shopping was bad. It was so disappointing! I would never recommend this port to anyone.

If you have never been to the Canal, take the Ferry tour of the Locks. We were bussed to Gamboa where we boarded the Ferry and cruised thru 2 of the 3 locks to the Pacific side. We had a guide who was very informative and explained the history and the workings of the locks.
