The guide talked down to us like we were 4 year olds. He basically said about 10 different things about Tunis, over and over again. Each time we passed a mosque, he told us that 95% of the nation was Muslim. (We passed at least a dozen mosques.) The guide told us not to buy souveniers from anyone except 3 shops he would point out to us, which he did, then he promptly disappeared until the bus was ready to go. The shop keepers were rather creepy, and the shops were very dark and uninviting.

3 wheeling was fun. Too much pressure from locals to buy their very over priced itemes. Very pretty sights and clean.

We booked the culteral and historial highlights of Tunis, which covered the ruins of Carthage, Sidi Bou Said house, and the Bardo museum, which I think are the three main attractions everyone should see while in this port. Do not attempt to do this on your own. The port is far from the city and we heard of a couple that turned around and went back to the ship after being harassed by taxi drivers offering to take them around.

While there is not much time in Tunis, there is time to check out a few things. The bus will take you to Sidi Bou Siad, which is an interesting place to pick up some souveniers. Don't forget to get a tiny boquet of Jasmine or two. They are only one euro, and are a nice touch in the cabin back on board.

The tour guide's english was not good. He was not pleasant and was even rude when asked a question of concern because the bus was having engine problems. It wasn't his fault the bus brke down but he didn't handle it well. I reall would not go back even to see Carthage.

What a surprise, They may not like Americans but they like when we shop It was a cool place to see and much more up-scale than I thought it would be.

This was the one time I wish that I had stayed on board. We did not have any children with us but this is certainly not a place to take them. The city is dirty and overrun with people in the market. People are smoking hookah pipes in the market ,stoned out of their mind and this smell is mixed with other offensive odors as well as the intense heat.. The vendors badger you and overall I don't think it is a very safe enviornment to be in. I would never visit Tunisia again.

I thought the ruins in Tunisia were beautiful and it was great to see a completely different country but I was really bored on the tour. I also think that the tour guide was not very nice. I would not try to venture there by yourself because I am sure that there are customs and things over there that you may not be aware of. The market area was very dirty and everyone was in your face forcing you to buy something. There was not a single woman in sight in the market area and I felt like bait and quite unsafe. I also felt that the tour guide took so long in talking and feeding us with useless information that when we finally got to the market, we had 30 min to shop but it did not end there. He took us to a specific shop to help people sell rugs to us. He was in it to make a quick buck.
